Synopsis

In Kobu-Tori, an old man with a lump growing on his face takes refuge in a hollow tree during a thunderstorm. When he awakens, he finds the forest populated by mythic creatures. He dances with the sprites and as a reward, the creatures remove his deformity. Back in the village, he tells another man who has a similar growth on his face. Will the creatures bestow the same boon upon this other man?

This animation is a difficult one to understand, however if you can understand that this animation is all about the first man and his 'gourd/Lump' then it becomes a whole lot better.

The actual animation of this is very impressive, though the techniques of anime has come in leaps and bounds, if you do prefer the older style of animation then this is a perfect example of it.

the sound is a difficult one, i watched this one you-tube, so i don't know whether this is the actual music.

Story
The current listed synopsis is wrong. While it is a story of two men that are opposites. The ___ removal was not a 'reward' but an act of insurance. Aside from that it delivers a kind message on hard work and honesty. Taking the short road in life like stealing can have some dastardly effects. Which made me laugh slightly and applause the ending.

This was quit fun to watch. Sure the music was quit repetative, but the story was easy to follow along. The animation was quit beatiful. Altough what I missed was that they would explain what the lump was, that was a bit confuding. Also not much action going on, but again it wasn't that bad. The characters are likable I guess, not that much character work, but still a fun and entertaining journy through time definatly didn't regreat watching it. And again for the music not saying that it was bad, just repetative, and definatly not that whimsical as other Yasuji Murata works, specially as ...
