SynopsisKirihara Aruto loves the stories of Alice, so much so that he begins to write one. One night while writing, he sees a girl out his window who he thinks is Alice. He follows her, and discovers that she is called a Seeker of Alice, and with the powers granted to her she fights other Seekers of Alice to take their eternal story, in order to find the part that belongs to the Eternal Alice.
Throughout Aruto's adventures with Arisugawa Arisu, his little sister Kirihara Kiraha and their various friends they discover more about the land of Alice, about the novels, the man who wrote them, and their own powers. |

Both are magical girl series. The characters appear to be quite similar in appearance and their relations with one another are comparable.

The plotline is really similiar. In Rozen Maiden, you have living dolls of the unique Rozen Maiden collection who compete/fight against each other to achieve the title of "Alice". In Kagihime Monogatari Eikyuu Alice Rinbukyoku (Key Princess Story: Eternal Alice Rondo), there are girls who are called the "Alice" have fragments of the unwritten Alice story (by Lewis Carroll). The Alice fight each other and collect the story pieces. Also, the protagonist is a male in both series. Each protagonist pairs up with a girl/doll who is part of the fight, and both shows deal somehow with "Alice".
Differences would include that Kagihime has more ecchi (you have been warned). Rozen Maiden has dolls and Kagihime deals with a mysterious 3rd book of the Alice series.
Well, enjoy~

Sep 5, 200813 of 13 episodes seen 7 of 7 people found this review helpful I see the fairly low popularity of Kagihime, but why is it so low, compared to others of it's own type.
Story: 7/10
Early on the story doesn't appear very impressive, collecting stories for the third book of the Alice stories hardly sounds like a great story and the first 9 or 10 episodes only really introduce the characters and show how they link up to form their little group, it doesn't really indicate what is to come in an interesting ending to the story, all be ...a little confusing while watching it as you wonder what parts are dreams and what is not.
A plus point for this anime over many other animes is the lack of a huge amount filler episodes, each episode has some point to it apart from perhaps the last one. A part to the story that may reduce popularity is the romantic parts to the story, two of the main ones are controversial, one a lot more so than the other.
Overall an interesting story executed fairly well but it did seem to be a bit of a rushed conclusion.
Art: 7/10
The art is good it looks well made, the characters bodies seem a bit out of proportion, I'm sure you'll understand what I mean if you watch, emotions are shown quite well. I noticed a couple of instances where there were small blips between shots, hair suddenly going flat again and things like that, not really noticable unless you're pernickety.
Sound: 8/10
The sound was in my opinion good, the opening and ending songs both suited the anime well and though they weren't overly memorable they were good. The characters were voiced well and fitted the characters very well. The background music was well used to give indications of the characters feelings using a different sense.
Character: 7/10
The characters were not bad at all they were well portrayed, the interactions between characters were a bit questionable at times. The characters were all well developed. The taking of stories for the 'Eternal Alice' were a good excuse to show important memories from the lesser but still important characters. There is clear character development but it's more of a reverse back to the start of the anime by the end.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I enjoyed the series in most parts a little bit too rushed at the end and a little slow at the start but I never got close to wanting to drop the series and it grew on me towards the end of the series. There was action in every episode but it didn't just turn into one giant fight at the end like many other similar anime series.
I feel it would have a reasonable re-watching value, plenty of meanings to things that may not have clicked the first time of watching.
Overall: 7/10 (37/5=7.4)
Kagihime never had a plot or character to set it out from the crowd, but despite this it was well made, was enjoyable and probably deserves a higher rating than it currently shows on it's main page. I would rather watch some of the other magical girl series but I'm glad I watched it.
If you do like magical girl series or are interested in Alice in Wonderland then I'd recommend you to watch Kagihime.
