Synopsis

Published on SEGA's website in November of 2008, Sonic: Night of the Werehog is an ONA made to promote the release of Sonic World Adventure, also known as Sonic Unleashed in North America and Europe.

Sonic and Chip venture to an abandoned haunted house on a rainy night, soon to be caught up in the antics of two mischievous ghosts, who scare any of the house's visitors in order to take their picture and impress the ghost girl who lives there with them. Though they succeed in scaring Chip out of his wits, the two can't seem to make Sonic bat an eye at them. Furious, the two band together in order to get the best of Sonic; will he be able to put a stop to the duo with a little help from the full moon?

Slipping under the radar of a lot of fans out their, "Sonic: Night of the WereHog" is basically a promotional video made for the newest video game, where Sonic changes into a werewolf at night by one glimpse of a full moon. And you know what? This thing has potential at being a great series someday!

Story: 6/10
Sadly this was the weakest part of the show. Basically we have two kids wandering into a haunted house, after which they are scared by two ghost who are taking pictures of any passers by who happen to come a callin. All the while making sure they get to read more

Edit: I got several PMs, that I gave this ONA a TOO GOOD rating because I'm a Sega/Sonic fanboy. But let me say this: I. AM. NOT. A. FANBOY. I despise Sega and I don't like Sonic, so the good rating it actually... cause it's good.

the story isn't that much, everything else actually impressed me.

The story starts off with two kids going into a haunted mansion, when out of nowhere, two ghosts scare the shit out of them and take a photograph of their scared expressions, this to please a fellow female ghost who likes photographs of scared people/things. Quickly followed by Sonic and his read more

Recommendations

Two of the highest caliber experimental visual extravaganza, similar in story telling capability and overall quality.
Although Sonic's CGI and animation level are ALOT higher then Fireball's, but both are highly enjoyable CGI short, Sonic is an 11-minute ONA, while Fireball's a 13-episode series (somewhere around 25 minutes total). Both quick fixes which you will certainly enjoy.
