Birthday Boy

While Grave of the Fireflies is a feature length movie about the second World War's effect on two siblings, Birthday Boy is a short film about the Korean War's effect on a young boy.

Despite the differences in art style, characters, plot, and general atmosphere, both anime look at war and what it does to children. It's about how they cope, how they live, and all the tragedies that await them or that they are going to face.
