Summary: An above-average hentai with some semblance of a plot. There is no actual incest; not even of the stepsister variety.

Story: 7/10

Kudos to the animation studio for not deviating from the plot of the game. The story is about a high student student named Takumi whose father suddenly declares to him that he now has two sisters. They are not officially adopted by his father, and he shares no distant blood relation to them, hence the no actual incest. In a nutshell, the story deals with his getting to know his "sisters", and his two neighbors, who also have the hots for him.

Art: 10/10

No complaints here; the girls are very attractive, and are realistically proportioned. In certain scenes, the background art creates the proper atmosphere for what is going on between the characters.

Sound: 9/10

The BGM creates the right mood for certain scenes, so it serves its purpose. It's nothing amazing, but BGM shouldn't be, else it deviates your attention from what's going on. So, it accomplishes everything it needs to. The voice actresses do their job well. They accomplish what Hentai tries to. Let's leave it at that.

Characters: 8/10

It's hentai. The show runs for roughly 60 minutes, credits included. Of those 60 minutes, Takumi is having sex for about 30 of them. This does not leave much time for character development. That said, Aneimo does a better job with character development than most other hentai. There is significant dialogue between the characters. Saori, the main girl, is actually quite developed as a character, and by the show's end, you can get a good idea of who she is. Mizuki is developed to a lesser extent, and Satsuki and Yui are all but forgotten after Takumi "enjoys their company."

Enjoyment: 8/10

The story of Aneimo was quite enjoyable to watch; I wasn't fast forwarding to the sex scenes like I do in just about every other hentai that I've watched. What also was enjoyable were the feelings the characters had for each other. The characters weren't mindlessly screwing with each other; they all had a realistic reason for copulating, and oh, EVERY sexual scene was consensual. Rape seems to be all too common a theme in hentai as of late, and it was infinitely more enjoyable to hear the voice actresses moan in pleasure than scream in pain.

Overall: 8/10

A top of the line hentai which is very softcore relative to the other titles of the hentai genre. If you are a newcomer to hentai, and are curious about it, this is one of the top shows to start off with. Even veteran watchers of hentai, who have seen the more hardcore titles out there would enjoy this show, as the girls are depicted as people with feelings than mindless sex toys. To conclude, a solid hentai-themed show.

PROLOGUE
Well, what can I say. After all those hundreds of hentai I watched, I now strive for something more than just brainless sex. What makes a good hentai is NOT just the amount of sex it has in it. Neither the different poses, nor the variety in fetishes. It’s the artistic approach to whatever the animators show. Really, plan something right and even a simple missionary style can look fantastic.

ART SECTION: 9/10
Optical wonder! If you look at it just for the sex, well, you won’t be amazed much. If you look at the finer details, you will love it. For the animators went to all the trouble of adding slice-of-life scenes that have absolutely nothing to do with… well… sex. They are there just for building up the mood and they do a fine job at it. So, this is not a series with intervals between sex scenes. It’s an eroge adaptation, where every scene is made to excite you with normal stuff; not necessarily erotic. Sure, there is plenty of habba-habba too, and it’s generally very good. But by the end of the day, it is not as important as the teasing that got you there. So, here you are watching horny teenagers doing it in various places. Yet, you do care about how they cook (there is even blur from the steam!), go to school (a pretty hilltop scenery) and a date in a plaza, making the whole fuss not just storyless porn. It is all wonderfully drawn and full of extra optical details most wouldn’t expect in hentai. So, yeah, animation-wise it was wonderful despite being just the usual high-schoolers-in-heat premise. The only reason I give it a 9 is because it has it’s share of partially repeated and still frames and it just ain’t Miyazaki level.

SOUND SECTION: 7/10
The sound department is not as imposing as it is mostly uniteresting music tunes and sensetional dialogues of girls teasing the guy. It does increase your fondness of the habba-habba-to-come and does provide info about the lives of the characters and their goals. Don’t think it’s something philosophical. It’s just explanatory of what they feel and want of one another.

STORY & CHARACTER SECTION: 5/10
Ok, I’d be lying if I said there is much of a story or character depth in here. The premise is quite typical and straightforward. A dork is living in a house where all his sisters-in-law and the neighbor girl love him and want to have sex with him for no given reason. There is no character development, nor a solid ending (although the guy does choose one particular girl, that doesn’t leave out orgies; does it now?). All I can say is that the characters were nice to look, without being interesting as personalities or imposing in presence. They are just pretty gals in a semi-romantic, semi-erotic situations, without any real clash of who is going to get screwed by the idiotic male lead. In fact, I love hentai stories where the bimbos don’t antagonize one another in orgies with the lucky guy. This was always a one-to-one situation and there is even a subtle logical continuation from one scene to another. So, it’s a simple story where the guy gets to choose all the different paths of the eroge-fashion-like story and does it with all the girls in a rather explainable way.

VALUE & ENJOYMENT SECTION: 7/10
Generally quite enjoyable and rewatchable, as long as you don’t watch hentai solely for the sex part. It is not as extreme as most in sex and neither that awesome when you describe it in your mind. Yet, it packs that silly eroge feeling that makes you yern for a world full of chicks who love you and want to have sex with you. So, its purpose was met and is generally successful.

VERDICT: 6.5 / 10
Just like the Transformers, it is more than meets the eye. Give it a try. It sure feels better than most rape/tentacle/orgy contests crap out there.
