I like both of these in a way, and I believe they are both good insights into what Japanese animation was like for the non-famous anime, back when they were made.

I used to watch these together, Eightman first then Speed Racer as a kid because my mother loved to watch them when she was a kid. They were made around a similar time with similar ideas and goals in mind, just one was more successful at it. Both good quality time-capsules of what animation was like around the 60's, without being too boring or bland with some interesting angles and such.

Both are about humans who, through different means, become super-powered cyborgs. Both series have the characters fighting crime and evil. This was a big theme in the 60s with the advent of technology, especially of the robotic type.
