Aura, colours, cats, music. If you liked one, you'll like the other.
Sketchbook ~full color'S~ was animated by the same company (Hal Film Maker) and shares several of the major creative staff, although the original mangaka are different. There's even a blatant, very hard to miss President Aria reference in the first episode.
Aside from that, though, both shows are similar styles of slice-of-life (iyashi-kei, to be precice), with Sketchbook slightly more comedic than Aria, and Aria slightly more sentimental than Sketchbook.
Both anime are set in a slow moving life, and give a different perspective about the life from what are generally used too.
Aria and Sketchbook share the slice of life genre. The pace of these two is incredibly slow and they are both very good, especially after a tiring day at work. I also noticed that cats play quite a big role in both of these. Even the company who animated these two is the same. The only major difference between these two would be the sci-fi found in Aria.
Firstly, both have the same creator as can be seen on the last episode of sketchbook. Both have a slow moving paste and is relaxing too watch, not too mention the overdose of cats on boths shows. The main character also is a little dense in both sides and lastly, they are both excellent Slice of Lifes.
Both are slice of life anime with a very laid back and relaxing feeling and any Makino Yui fans should definitely check these out, she sings the OP in every Aria season and she sings the ED in Sketchbook.
The are both created by the same animation company and producers. ARIA is like Sketchbook in Venice, with gondolas and beautiful back-drops.
Awesome, slow-paced slice of life anime with a lot of nice jokes.
Needless to say they both are favourites of mine.

Colorful visuals, pleasant music, lovable characters, and interesting premises of fantasy and nostalgia. Both are relaxing slice of life stories about cute girls with unusual occupations. If you enjoyed either of these, watching the other series is a must.
Both are slice of life, and slow paced. Also, they both make atleast me smile. I guess you could say that they also give a similar "Aura".
Both fall into the "relaxing" slice of life genre rather than comedy. Watching either show just puts a smile on your face and helps to forget all your cares.
A peaceful slice of life, very organic and relaxing. The art is also similar in the sense of round and shiny character designs.

They're completely different genres, but they are both episodic anime which has a mysterious calming feel. mushishi is more supernatural and deep with more drama, and aria is much more relaxed, however they have the same kind of strange indescribable feeling to it.
Both animes are focused around people and their lives, with no emphasis on action or drama. This makes both series very relaxing to watch, and makes you feel something like an inner peace.
scenery candy, that's all haha.

Both series have tight sempai/kohai bonds between the main female characters. The three Rose families of Maria-sama ga Miteru are mirrored by the three rival Undine companies of Aria. Both series are light-hearted slice of life stories that never fail to make you smile and feel warm inside (but Marimite can get a little dramatic at times).
Also, funnily enough, both series follow the pattern of having a first TV season, a second TV season, and third OVA series, and then a fourth TV series! :D
The two are both great character-driven series about a close group of friends share the same slow pace, wonderful character interactions, and heartwarming moments. They even share several structures; a trio of senpai-kouhai bonds within its characters that are tested and proven throughout the series.
They both focus on girl groups and friendship and give the same relaxation effect when watching. Both portray a smooth, non-violent slice of life and pure relationships.

Both are pretty chill series with some nice stories. If you liked one, there's a good chance you'll like the other.
While Shinigami no Ballad focuses on death and the effects of the lives of those after loved ones perish, and Aria focuses on life as a gondola boatsperson, both have very similiar aspects. The laid back slice of life, moral-of-the-story type anime makes both likeable. Personally, I prefered Aria, but both are decently enjoyable if you are looking to ease a day's stress away.
Both are slow, relaxed, sleep-inducing short anime of the slice of life genre and with basically no character development at all.
Even though Akari & Momo have opposite personalities, both of them come into contact with many people because of their work, and always try to help them.

Both shows have that relaxed feel to them, and they're both about a place where small miracles happen.
Kokoro Toshokan is a bit more story oriented towards the end of the series, but generally each episode is a stand alone story.
For those of you who like the kind of laid-back light hearted stories and settings, Kokoro Library is an absolute must. Both anime proceed slowly, but nevertheless shne brilliantly when making their point.

both of them are very good anime and has a similar point in the plot ( if u never give up on your goals/dreams, u can always reach them)
It's strange to express this feeling, but I trully enjoyed both shows. Sora is just like Akari a very optimistic girl who wants to do everything to realise her dreams together with the help of her friends.
Both shows are also full of touching moments and will result in some moments where u will have tears in your eyes ^^.
Although the setting in both show are both totally different (circus in KS and becoming an undine in Aria), I still recommend everybody to check out the both shows. They are very underrated pearls and you won't regret watching either of the 2.

Although the style and story are completely different, both are very Zen animes.
Both feature sweet, caring females in the lead. They are laid-back, with occasional moments of sxcitement, but generally are relaxing (sorta) slice-of-life animes.

The same peaceful sensation will invade you as you watch these two series. While missing a plot, each episodic story is touching, original and has an unique sense of humor attached to it. While Aria deals with the link between Neo-Venecia and its citizens. tourists and Undine, Natsume definitely present a similar relationship between Natsume, the ayakashi and the humans....

Aria the Animation has a feel in which relaxes the viewer. Both Aria and Clannad both give away that impression. Even though Clannad and Aria have different ideas, the given feeling of calm is the same, if you liked aria, and its sequels, you will probably like clannad

Both series leave you with a cheerful and positive feeling.
Akari and Nadja have very similar personalities. They both like to help others and both can't seem to help charming everyone they meet. Both also have an optimistic view of life. If you enjoyed one I definitely think you would enjoy the other.

Both shows use detailed visuals and evocative music to create a European atmosphere (GsG is set in Italy while Aria's setting is based on Venice).
The two stories also feature female protagonists who are very much dedicated to their professions, and each one is accompanied by an authority figure. For some reason never given, their jobs seem to be open only to girls.

Airheads enjoying little wonders of life at the same time changing moods of everyone they meet.Cute characters that are hard to not to love them. Also you can hear from time to time "ara ara" in the background

Both depicts stories of sea maidens, both have a slow development and a serene ambient mood.
Both anime are set in a futuristic version of an Italian city: RxJ is set in Neo Verona, and Aria is set in Neo Venezia.
Both of these shows depict a day to day routine that contains the spice of mysterious supernatural happenings. In both, those mysteries are never totally resolved, leaving the viewer the freedom to imagine.
Both are episodic slice of life tales, and whilst Aria may the more popular, Binchou-tan has a charm all of it's own - a worthy rival to the series.
Well, if you like the kind of anime that combines comedy with a slice of life, then the Aria series is for you, though the themes are completely different, I found that it appealed to much of the same things... An extremely prevalent and light sense of humor, but is serious when it should be.

Both give a quiet, peaceful vision of the future, and both are relaxingly entertaining.
Both shows are epsiodic in nature, and both have a nice relaxed feel to them.
Oh, and both shows have a female lead called Akari :)
Both are slice-of-life and have a similar, unique, calming atmosphere. Both are also relaxing and episodic series.
Both have a girl who left Earth to space trying to make her dream come true, along the way she meets alot of freinds and learn new things in life. they both feel like they are taken from real life Exp.
Breezy, light-hearted slice-of-lifes in a sci-fi setting.
Both shows are slice of life and give a similar relaxing vibe and tend to encourage you and make you feel better.
Both have a slow pace and focus on the daily lives of regular people in a semi-realistic sci-fi world.
Akari = Yuno w/ pigtails. Slice-of-life goodness.
relaxing anime. windy tales is less so, bit more drama and action, but same atmospheres.
well, Lamune is a romantic anime while aria the animation has noting to do romanic, but there both .... well.... have the same relaxing theme to them, there is no complicated or twisted plots, they're both simple, easy to watch.
Although they seem like completely different genres etc, they both have the same relaxed and calming quality to it. natsume yuujinchou is more supernatural, and though aria has its supernatural moments (the mysterious cats), it is more relaxing slice-of-life. however, after watching an episode, they both give you a nice warm feeling.
similar as far as characters having a "overall" goal and "training" or. both have fun characters though aria IS SLICE OF LIFE.
Mainly, the atmosphere of both 'Haibane Renmei' and the 'Aria' series is extremely similar for their overwhelming calmness. Also, the plot of both are somewhat similar in that both characters are in a certain type of organization and are striving to become a 'useful' member of that organization.
If you liked Haibane Renmei, then there is a 90% chance that you'll love the Aria series
(In my case, it was so ^_^)
