One girl snap at her best friend for absolutely no good reason. Then they fight. Relationship-wise, both can be implied as shoujo-ai.
I heard all the times that maiden heart work in mysterious ways. Positively looking this two shows just portray it to the extreme.
Ga-rei zero do include why the fight is unavoidable in an interesting non-chronological fashion. BRS however is written in the way that assume audience know everything, making the show sort of a fan fare.
Two similar pairs of girls become friends and end up fighting each other. Both have slice-of-life elements (far more so in BRS) and seem quite slow paced at the beginning.
In both, two girls start off as pretty close friends and end up fighing against each other. In both, the friends who turn evil share the same name, Yomi.
Both have dark music and nice fighting scenes.
Both contain supernatural & slice of life elements but Ga-Rei Zero is much more tragic and dramatic.
both protagonist are struggling with Yomi :D
Both about a strong bond between girls, but they should fight each other against their will. In both one girl is ready to do anything to save other.
But Ga-Rei is much more heartbreak.
quite similar in the style of the story.
In both shows we have two main heroins who become very close friends during the series and very fast but sadly in the end they become enemies who are forced to fight each other.
Also how ironically it wouldn't sound, one of the heroins is called Yomi in both series and in both of them she ends up falling into darkness.
The difference is that Ga-Rei Zero is much more dramatic and most importantly it gives a clear explanation of what is happening in comparison to Black★Rock Shooter. I definitely recommend to watch it.
Both shows are about two best friends end up fighting each other. Another thing is that one of the main girl in both shows share the same name Yomi.
The way the story flow is very similar. At first, it show two girls fighting scenes and then flash back to the point they first meet each other and how their relationship grow , how conflicts begin . After that it back to the fighting scenes to the end.
Both have a storyline where the 2 main characters become very close friends but later one of them turns evil and the other one has to kill her. And coincidently in both animes the one that turns evil is a girl called Yomi
Best friends who have to fight each other. In both shows those girls are very similar, one bright and full of life and always nice to others, not willing to hurt anyone, and the other serious and kind of noble, but because of this she doesn't have a lot of friends. They become very close, like sisters, but the second one eventually turns evil, and her friend has to make a very hard choice, not willing to fight her but being forced to.
Both anime involves the beginning friendship of two girls but eventually turns into violent involving action, drama, and conflicts. Even two of these main characters in the series have identical first names.
Friendship turns sour through unfortunate circumstances and their destinies intertwine in both series.

Just by watching the very first episode of Elfen Lied and Ga - Rei - Zero you will see why I said these seem similar. The graphic violence, female leads, ecchi scenes, supernatural powers, and special force teams. They share the same feel and seem to have good twists. Elfen Lied was a masterpiece so I expect a lot from this one.
Both fall under the horror/action genre and contain extreme violence with female lead characters who have supernatural powers. Elfen Lied is more ecchi (contains nudity) and comedic (in a good way) than Ga-Rei -Zero-, but did I mention that they both have a shocking first episode?
Both have similar themes and styles to them. Ga Rei Zero has less blatant fanservice but both are equally as interesting. Two of the best anti-hero's I've seen for a while.
First of all drama is the main factor in both series so they are very sad.
Both series have gore moments, but Elfen Lied has it to bigger extend. The main heroins have it hard and you just have to feel sorry for them.
Obviously we have action involvement as well.
And another thing is that both series are short.
Both involve a gory story that has heavy emotional content and very tragic events. If you enjoy a sad tale then both will make your day.
The themes of love and hate are huge in both of these shows. People battling their emotions and coming to understand each other. The idea of the power of hate vs the power of love is the core of both these shows. Both shows feel very similar and both are extremely moving. If you love action shows for more than just the violence, these shows are for you.

Both are full of action, and have a great story.
There's a strong relationship between the 2 main characters, you can almost say they really love each other. Yuri-like, but it's not yuri at all. The character development in both these anime will make you cry.
They both have a strong first and second episode, followed by one of the most sad endings.
If you liked the one, you'll definitely like the other.
♫both anime have a strong bond between two female characters (Yomi Isayama/Kagura Tsuchimiya and Canaan/Maria Oosawa) that grow stronger and stronger as the story unfolds♫
♫both anime are action packed and have very interesting plots that will make you question and wonder what is going on♫
♫both anime will also leave you wanting more at the end so check out one if you liked the other♫
Both about Friendship and Both got awesome action
Both series have implied yuri undertones as well as violence and a dark atmosphere. Both also, however, have a LOT of light-hearted moments and great character development.
Both series are styled like an action-packed movie, and follows a linear plot with a closure ending. They're both dark, and both contain lots of violence and fighting (both combat and military), though the settings in Canaan are less futuristic than Ga-Rei's.
Both stories also concentrates on the bonds between the two main female characters, and the hardships they have to bare with the positions they happen to be in.

Both share a similar plot, where two girls build up a very close relationship, and then one of them becomes a bit naughty.
Yuri fans should love both of these series.
If you like Kannazuki no Miko but would like more action in your yuri love story, you're going to like Ga-Rei Zero.
Similar plotline but better soundtrack, better production quality, more action.
Both have girls who are very close and are fighting together. There's tragedy and betrayal as well.
Both series contains a strange atmosphere from the very first pilot episode.
Furthermore, there is the essence of yuri in the air that mixes in elements of comedy, drama, action, and later on emotions.
There is also the destiny theme in which the two main female protagonists must undertaker in the series in a climatic battle.

Girl with a Sword fighting off evil monster that attack humankind, struggling with the truth and loved ones around her. In my eyes its almost exactly like Ga-Rei: Zero. You could almost call them sisters.
Both series consists of fighting the supernatural (among them demons) with the art of swordsmanship.
The main female protagonist in both series are strong and possesses extraordinary abilities but also harbors a dark past.
Both series contain themes of tragedy, drama, action, and emotions later on.
From the sword fighting, monster killing to the theme of family and the bond between sisters. If you thought Ga-Rei:Zero wasn't enough I would recommend you check Blood + out

the teresa arc in Claymores is very similar to Ga-rei the whole older sister thing and the action is good as well.
the sisterhood of course!!!! theresa and claire..kagura and yomi....UHUHUHUHUHUHUH....

Both series focus around a couple of people who have a strong friendship bond and would do anything to help each other until something or someone else interferes, with the resulting actions causing an immediate shift from best friends to enemies. Not to mention both series also start with the end and then show the events leading up to what happened at the start.

Both series start off in such a way that the viewer doesn't really have an idea of what exactly is going on; after which a flashback starts that lasts for a large part of the series and details the events leading up to the situation shown to the viewer in the first episode (first two episodes in Ga-Rei-Zero's case). Both series also happen to revolve around a deep friendship between two people that somehow took a turn for the worse, the how and why also being revealed over the course of the story.
Two best friends start off supporting each other and then grow into enemies because of terrible circumstances they can't control.

Supernatural dark-themed catfight with casualties. The timing of event is so well done you will be surprised and can't wait-until-next-week. Kickass combat keep you glued to your seat when the next-week finally comes. Entire lesbian casts keep you sealed to your seat once more when the next next episode come. And finally when the next next next week come once again, here come explicit confession of lesbianship on air, which once more stick you to your seat.
Short summary? Explicit Yuri (lesbian) attitudes, beautiful combat sequences, girls politic presented unlike your average Sex and the City catfight, great screenplay, and well timed stories will keep you glued to your seat throughout the season. I'm out of synonyms for glued already.
Concept of stones is somewhat, only somewhat similar, the making and breaking of friendships, the hardships of one's fate. Concept overall is similar. Both are anime that show that happy times then take it all away.
If you like one, you'd definitely like the other. Both are really good anime
Both anime contain action as well as drama, are about fighting 'evil things' and have a slight yuri touch to it. Basically, they both have the same 'shounen-meets-shoujo' feel.

These shows look very different from an outside and at first you may wonder just what in the world makes them alike but once you go further and look at them from the inside you will see the connection.
For starters both shows start with a bit confusing begining but then we go into flashback mode and we see what had happened and led to such begining which is making more sence now.
Both series are about strong friendship which later got turned into hatred and fight between each other.
Both shows have monsters, lots of blood and deaths as well as some romance.
The main difference is that shows happen in different timelines and that in Berserk main heroes are males while in Ga-Re Zero those are females. Berserk also has more nudity.
They both start with a (future)event and later go into a flashback, introducing the main characters and their stories.
The ending of GRZ also reminded me alot of Berserk.

Similar storyline about the hunting of evil spirits and corpses that brings about death and decay to the land.
The female lead in Shikabane is very similar to Yomi in Ga-Rei Zero, both in personality and skill.
Both are tragic anime about slaying demons.
Both series are about exorcists fighting various demons and unnatural beings.
The story in both anime revolves around teenage girls who live their stereotypical highschool lives full of yuri tendencies and word jokes, all the while fighting evil monsters which seem to flood both worlds for no apparent reason. The most striking similarity between the two shows is the use of spiritual beasts in battle, known as Ga-Rei in Ga-Rei Zero, and Childs in Mai-HiME. The twist in both stories is that soon, things start to get serious - main characters start to die, friends battle to the death and angst ensues. On top of these similarities, Ga-Rei also seems to rip some characters completely from Mai-HiME, but frankly, Ga-Rei Zero offers the most convincing drama in my opinion.
Both are about a group of demon hunters who control powerful beasts in order to destroy monsters of all sorts. Of course this only apllies for the first half of My-HiME.
Both are action packed dramas with gore, deep plots twists, and lead characters fighting off demons with powerful hend held weapons.
They both share the concept of deamon slaying.
Surprised no one already recommended this anime. Similarities include gratuitous violence, strong overly attractive female leads, zombies and the like. A must see if you like HS of the dead.
Both are very campy action series with decent animation, and a considerable amount of fan service. Ga-Rei: Zero has a wider audience for it's service, so there's that.
I thought HoTD was a lot better, but Ga-Rei: Zero stood to be stupid fun.
it has the same feel to it...with organizations and fight scenes...not to mention the supernatural powers
Both series contain supernatural elements with dark atmosphere. The characters are interesting and the relationships they develop with others are important throughout the series.
Tragedy, violence, and action are expected in both of these series as result of dark stories.
There are some parts of comedy, occasionally.
Both begin with the ending, and the whole story afterward is a sort of flashback. Similar concept: a secret organization fighting against monsters, a team composed by two girls which have a friends-enemies relationship, lots of deaths and sad moments, due the troubled mind of the protagonists.
Idolmaster + Ga-Rei Zero = This anime.
Both anime are dark, tragic tales revolving around warriors who find themselves struggling to abandon compassion in order to become more efficient fighters while at the same time clutching onto the few people they still love. The protagonists in both anime also end up having to face a dilemma in which they have to choose between duty and love. Finally, both anime serve as preludes to series that end up being much more lighthearted in tone than what you saw in said preludes.
swords with action. to top it all, both have similar endings.
Both are about people, who fights ith evil spirits. Both have two main heroins who were close for a long time(you even could find some yuri allusions) but became rivals because of influance of some evil supernatural being. In both begining of the story are 3 series, while 1 and 2 includes later developments
Both are about a group hunting demons with 2 girls having deep feelings (bordering Yuri) towards each other. They both include betrayal and tragedy as well.
- Both are shounen with female leads.
- Both have girls wielding swords and killing monsters.
sick humor, crazy tastes unpredictible plot.
if you watched angel beats you like for garanty ga-rei:zero their is also a sad story in both action, supernatrual and comedy so their almost the same
Both are action oriented but also contain elements of drama and romance.
Both have large secret government organisations as the protagonists trying to defend the world against strange beings. Both are tragic as many things go wrong and each look at the main characters inner flaws and subsequent conquering (Yomi’s inner resentment of Kagura and shinji’s cowerdice). Both of these are extremely well made stories with a great mix of action and plot.
Both about Exorcist
Both main characters have a katana as a weapon
Both side characters have different and unique weapons
Ga Rei is like F/SN drama, romans and they are both fantasy. I hope that they who watched Fate would like Ga Rei ^^
I love this two for the same reasons, the chbaracters and the story, are rough and sweet in the same time
I find the narrative structure similar to each-other, it's also interesting to note that both shows suffer from the same problems (being manga-adaptions, there are many unexplained things).
Both contain an amazingly well-written tragic story that will crush your heart by the end.
I have to be honest, both of these animes have some "yuri" stuff in it. But they're both great; storyline, characters, and I guess animation.
In a way, I feel that both series are a bit related to each other.
Both series has two prominent female characters as the main characters. In addition, they possesses supernatural abilities of their will.
Both series has a mystery like feeling to them along with drama, action, and some thriller like endings.
Both series also holds secrets regarding one of the main female characters as a prominent plot device.
Both of these animes have two female characters as the main characters. They are also relatively close.
Quite similar in theme actually, humans appointed by their government to fight against paranormals as if they're the only ones who could do it. Also the feel of both anime are the same.
Both series are really amazing and worth watching. For those who have seen or are familiar with Naruto, Ga-Rei has a similar character relationship as Naruto and Sasuke where these two kids develop a close bond like brothers (in Ga-Rei its sisters) and one turns against the other, forcing one to kill the other. Other than that, there is a lot of fighting and action.
The first two episodes and the last few of Ga-Rei are VERY similar to Straight Jacket. Both government sponsored and outlaw groups fighting demons that used to be human. Ga-Rei, however, has significantly more light-hearted-ness to it in the middle episodes.
They both have close-knit groups fighting to save the world as well as very tragic undertones, such as broken trust and betrayal. Both have a dark atmosphere and underground organizations of sorts.
Annd to add icing to the cake, Yomi bears a striking physical resembelance to Arashi, while Kagura seems very much like Yuzuriha both in personality and looks, as well as age and pocky-loving.
A bait-and-switch first episode (first two episodes in TE's case) and the fact that anyone can die in the gritty setting is in both series. Both have an alien (not in the extraterrestrial sense) force that humans fight against but MLA: TE obviously goes in a different direction with the mecha/mecha and mecha/alien combat while GR: Z is human/supernatural combat.
Ga-Rei and Zombie-Loan have similarities by hunting spiritual stuffs
Both are about paranormal activity in Japan.
They both share the concept of deamon slaying.
Shares the same director, and are both prequels that tells you about the tragedies that occurred to the main characters before the event of the original series. Great animation, story, and heart-wrenching moments.
Both are сonnected with evil spirits and hunting them
Arika and Nina have the same type of relationship with Kagura and Yomi respectively. First friends, then enemies. Both animes have the same amount of bad assery, comedy, and wonderful art. The fighting scenes are both commendable and gets you pumped up!
Both have great animation, good soundtrack (although Ga-Rei Zero's sounds more techno-ish, and Tokyo Majin's leans more toward Rob Zombie-esque metal) and overall same mystic vibe.
Ga-rei is more bloody and violent, while KNS is more romance, but the two share a plot of action/supernatural, where the main girl fights with a sword against evil spirits/demons.
Both series involve exorcists dealing with evil with a female as the main protagonist. However, Ghost Hunt takes a more traditional approach as opposed to fighting evil with swords, etc. But both are great series for supernatural suspense and action.
This is more WTF than Elfen Lied, Cuz so far I do not know yet what the hell is happening, of course this do not means it is bad!! the suspense man, the suspense.
They both screw with you right from the get-go. Where Ga-Rei becomes somewhat normal after the first two episodes, Higurashi just keeps it up all the way to the finish line without ever stopping.
If you are new to anime, a.k.a. "I watched Naruto and now I'm a big fan of anime" you won't see much similarity in this. But if you know certain term such as shoujo-ai or yuri you will know what i'm talking about. My guess is that 99% of people on this web know it. So if you don't, why are you even here? If you want to turn back now is the time.
The two shows are similar because they are imagination-enhancing to men and leses. The dependent girl and her best friend is another common scenario suitable for yuri relationship to take place. Both show offer shoujo-ai material which can be upgrade to yuri with your handy imagination.
I find that Yomi and Ai have alot in common in their personalities, how they feel about their companions, and also having their destiny taken over by something incredibly evil but yet having some power in stopping it in a way. Hate leads to no good.
Both involves hunting supernatural beings in an ultramodern city. Both GA-rei and Karas has outstanding animation. If you enjoy non-stop gun and blade-wielding action, you will probably like the two series. Warning that both series have a rather twisted plot that is hard to grasp at first.
It involves evil spirits and summons as well. The down side is, the plot may not be as fantastic as Ga Rei Zero
Both have supernatural themes, an organization to deal with monsters/ghosts/etc.
They just have the same feel, however, ga-rei-zero looks a lot better than blassreiter
In both series the protagonists have a deep bond with each other, there are no humorous or funny scenes, the art is alike and both of them are telling the struggle against the inevitable fate (cast by family quarrel). [Unlike RxJ, it has some gore like Blood+].
Hehehe...well it's between Hime and Yomi-san..They're like twins. They are look alike. Nothing much..hehe
Art and atmosphere looks similar.
At first, both these animes have a similar drama component: in order to do their duty main characters have to kill their loved ones, however in Ga-Rei Zero drama is payed more atention to and is more deep than in DTB. Both these series deal with organisations exterminating threats to the mankind (ghosts in GRZ case and contractors in DTB case). Sure thing there are mystical powers and supernatural abilities included. Also, you will feel painfully sorry for main characters whichever you watch.
In case you watched DTB only because of action and fights, it's unlikely you will like GRZ. There is action (actually, half of the series is swordsfighting), but it is drenched with main character's emotions and incertitude . But if you have nothing against adversaries trying to resolve an agonizing dilemma of fighting against their ex-friends, you will definetely enjoy it.
The tension between yomi and kagura really reminds me of Naruto and Sasuke, especially the fight at the end, which in both animes the characters fight because of their love and care towards each other. The storyline isn't similar at all though, so you won't feel too bored watching one after the other.
♫in both Asura Cryin' 2 and Ga-Rei Zero, the protagonists (Tomoharu and Kagura, respectively) find their family members too busy with their own lives, and end up forming arguably stronger bonds with a few close friends♫
♫both Tomoharu and Kagura possess great power and use it to fight evil, although Kagura is more aware of her situation compared to Tomoharu, who is ofen baffled by whatever fiasco in which he finds himself♫
♫Ga-Rei is darker by far, but the protagonists in both series must struggle with difficult choices involving whether to fight and whether their friends are worth sacrificing for the greater good♫
While Shakugan no Shana is less serious than Ga-rei Zero, they both deal with the concept of keeping balance to the world by eliminating the beings that throw it off. In both, there are instances where personal feelings get in the way of duty and responsibility.
Both of these anime are similar that to them there is a theme of fighting arts. Accordingly similar technics (liberation of mythical essences, etc.). The main characters in them - girls. At all not having thoroughbred relationship the main characters all equally become the friend for the friend as sisters. And in desire to protect the favourite and dear person, heroines will go on everything even if it will cost it of a life...
Both contain two strong female protagonists with a strong bond, are highly skilled for combat fighting (high action), end up fighting against one another, and they're both pretty gory animes. Kagura also closely resembles one of the main female characters in Noir Certain tracks/songs are also similar with the siren-like voices.
This anime is also about the organization, which fights with evil spirits and kills daemons.
They both include interesting supernatural elements and beings, also there's a lot of fantasy.
Both involve exorcists fighting against akuma/demons. Also the main antagonists in the two series are similar, both causing the disturbance of peace by producing/exciting akuma/demons.
♫Ga-Rei -Zero- and Dance in the Vampire Bund are very similar in terms of the characters and situations♫
♫both series are also packed full of ecchi to the point of making themselves seem almost ridiculous♫
♫i assure you; if you loved one of these, you'll love the other♫
