Both in "Chrome Shelled Regios" and in "Densetsu no yuusha no densetsu", the hero is a boy, who, in the beginning, is trying to hide his past and exceptional abilities (tenken-user, alpha stigma) playing the dumb, pretending to be unintrested, slow and unskilled. Other similarities seem to be the fantastic setting, the presence of the fantastic itself (the mysterious regious and their spirits and monsters the student-soldiers are fighting against, magic), organizations of selected fighters (tenken-users, orphanage training soldier-magicians) and smaller groups of friends of the hero who are operating together, and finally (there might be more, but I will just leave it at that  read more

Both have light novel source materials and focus on a cool MC hiding his untold back story and past experience from the rest of the militaristic high school and slowly showing it off as he gets into more fights surrounding a mixture of hand to hand combat, specialized weapons, and magic / kai. Also both have an interesting support cast to make up for the withdrawn personality of the MC.

By far the better one if you like: Tournaments/ duels with magic swords A strong protagonist who leads a "strong team" Fighting bugs/ monsters in a post-apocalyptic world (One is a flying city, while in chrome shelled regios we have a moving capsulated city

Both starts with a similar futuristic-fantasy setting with a military academy training students with special combat abilities.

Both have ridiculously strong male protagonist

Ok so this is kind of a stretch because the settings in SAO and CSR are totally different: one being inside a MMORPG and the other a post apocalyptic world with moving cities. However they are very similar in the sense that the main characters between the two are both total badasses. Kirito being a solo player on the front lines who doesnt need any help and Layfon being one of the 7 heavenly blades or whatever in disguise at an ordinary school/city. So basically if you enjoy watching the main male lead go ham and wreck the opponents then both of these shows are  read more

watching Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon is like watching chrome shelled regios, why? they have the same action, student battle, many character or unexpected character that you dont know what they are allies or foe.

Both shows are in a distant future when land is ruined and humanity it's now trapped, living in mobile cities, students try to fight against monster outside of city.
report Recommended by aureliodantas
Reasons why they are similar: -Both happen in a post-apocalyptic world -Both the people live in walled city, because the outside is dangerous -Both have monsters that humans need to fight against -Both divide the characters in platoons to fight against the enemy

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, where humanity is under attack by these unidentified monsters that are attacking humans. The characters in here are mostly shielded in an area by these advance technology where the monsters won't get through. There are supernatural powers where they can eradicate these monsters when fighting them. Expect some dark moments, action, and fears around them.

Both have human race near extinction and depending on one hero with hidden ability

Yuuma is just like the main hero from Regios: come to inferior world and possess insanely strong abilities. Both charas also battles in groups.
report Recommended by coeus
Both have a main character that is extremely powerful and has seen many fights who joins a group of less experienced people. The main character also seems reluctant to display their powers because of the past and they are trying to change from fighting into existing more peacefully with others.

Blue Gender and Chrome Shelled Regios are set in an apocalyptic event in which the planet has been dominated and the humans are set as food. Also the main characters in both anime refuse to fight in the beginning but later find a resolve to fight for what they believe is worth protecting. Only difference is that Blue Gender has Mechs and tends to be more serious While Chrome Shelled Regios uses Kei enhanced weapons and has some light comedy to balance out the seriousness but both are still amazingly awesome shows

Ergo and Chrome are both post-apocalyptic environments in which civilization sustains within domes, away from the toxic exterior environments. Each story focuses on monsters, or in the case of Ergo, Proxies. Aside from that, mood and plot highly differ between the dark (goth), mysterious, and mechanized-society of Ergo with the light, comedic atmosphere of Chrome.

Both male lead are underastimated and are hiding their true streagth. They going to a magical/martial arts academy and are atracted to troubles. In both stories the magicians/martial artists are fighting magical beasts.

The Settings For CSR and ToD are very different but stories focusing a bit on the dynamics of group combat(and to an extent the fight scences themselves), weird monsters, and of course the fanservice are all strikingly similar. If you enjoyed either, give the other a few episodes and see if it doesn't have a similar feel.

They all have different powers that they use to battle the enemy. And just like Allen belongs to the Exorcists, Lafon belongs to the 17th platoon.
report Recommended by Amarante
There is a main guy who is a total badass in both who doesnt need to depend on anyone else because theyre CRAZY strong and theres romance in both of them

Both CSR and Blacksmith have male leads [ Layfon Alseif in CSR, Luke Ainsworth in Blacksmith ] that are almost otherworldy in their combat skill. Both of them are at their best with Katana, which is a weapon in both series that is held on another level to others when used properly. Overall the series are different in alot of ways, but the simple relation in characters makes the viewer feel some nostalgia when watching one and then the other.
report Recommended by Sourunji
Both series have a battle-scarred male protagonist who pretends to be mellow and weak in front of others.
report Recommended by NoIceCreamForYou
both have a main male main character with strong abilities. both are set in a academy with students in a team (CSR) or pair (Freezing). both also hide there abilities by not realizing (Freezing) or on purpose (CSR)

Both main leads were from orphanages, they were the older-brother figures in their respective orphanages. Both are set in a post-apocalypse world, both feature floating cities and its inhabitants fighting against monsters left on the uninhabitable surface. Both feature main female leads [Nina Antalk in Chrome and Chtholly in Sukasuka] prominent in the first half or so, but at the end overtaken by another female lead [Felli in Chrome and Nephiren in Sukasuka]

Both involve a high school setting. Both are fairly action packed. In both the student council president holds a high position of authority and influence in the lives of the students.

I'm surprised this wasn't already recommended. Both characters get introduced as "Former" wielders of a specific blade. Romance aspects are involved, however Chrome Shelled Regios has a more Darling in the Franxx Lore.

Strong protagonist in a combat school environment. The protagonists in both anime are in an underrated platoon.

both have extremelly strong character who hide their power until someone discovers them so they begin using that power to help their friends. both are set on a post apocaliptic wolrd where basically everything is just dust and deserts..only difference is that in trigun they live on that enviroment in middle west type towns, and in chrome they made special cities inside domes so they could live. there is romance in both of the series.

both mc are really strong. In chrome shelled regios Layfon is ultimate bad ass. If like one u will definately enjoy the other one
report Recommended by xRed
Both are fighting large bug/ monsters (but they are kind of bugs anyways) .Both include ecchi. They both have a girl who is short, have grey long hair, and is motionless. I don't know if they are the same, but then both mc are strong. In this case, in mushibugyo, the mc has a hidden self meanwhile CSR the mc is already strong.. but then their potential is kind of hidden.
report Recommended by Kosourbites
Both have humans with superpowers brought about by advanced/ancient technology. Main characters must put in there greatest efforts to fend off the forces of evil that would try to destroy their town/country. Main characters face off against their best friend/rival who aid those evil forces.

Main Similarities: •Bad guys come, the main character deals with them. •Both main characters in the anime are very strong. •Similar plot/setting. •Similar-ish genres.

"Chrome Shelled Regios" and "Zero no Tsukaima" have several similar elements. Both have a male lead with several female co-leads. Both are set in a fantastical world combined with a school setting. Both have jokes about violence being dealt to the baka male lead by a romantically frustrated female (although Felli is a far more complex Tsundere than the typical modern version- very interesting character development). Both anime suffer from serious flaws mixed with strengths, and are poor adaptations of light novels that have a superior story. The major difference is that while "Zero no Tsukaima" degrades by sliding  read more

NGE and Chrome both have their theme as fighting monsters in a futuristic setting. NGE sets in post modern-post apocalyptic japan and Chrome also sets in a post modern-post apocalyptic but in moving cities. NGE focuses mecha vs. angels while Chrome focuses human with kei (chi-internal superhuman powers) vs. filth monsters. Angel and filth monsters, tell u the truth look a lot alike. The main character in both anime have the hidden potential of being great as well.

They both have a lot of action and similar types of magic, and they both are drawn in very similar styles. There's a lot of other little details that make them similar, and it was the first show I thought of while watching it.
report Recommended by TsuruyaSonozaki
Both of the main characters in it, Kai and Layfon, are both very much alike and are forced to become *spoilers for both of them, in a way*; they both have special powers, always seeming to be wanted by people for their power, have lots of action filled with supernatural stuff, ect... To put it blankly, they're like exact copies of eachother.
report Recommended by AuroraStar
Massive action against creatures far from human. Weapons that are activated with the use of items, a hint of love mixed in and of course a dash of comedy and drama.

The feeling that both of these series are quite similar. In fact, they both have a setting in an apocalyptic future. The main protagonist in both series are also similar in that they are strong, independent, and proud of who they are. The series focuses on a group of characters that also involves action, drama, and some comedy. However, later on, secrets are revealed and the story gets deeper. Both series also introduces science fiction themes.

Although both series sets the mood of different atmospheres, Chrome Shelled Regios and Suisei no Gargantia takes place in a futuristic world that has technology beyond ours. In that world, there is a dangerous enemy that mankind is forced to deal with. The main male protagonist is a soldier with military experience in both series. With his skills, he takes on adversaries that threatens the existence of mankind. At the same time, he tries to adjust to the world with his friends.
