Premise of plot is similar, as well as character roles and art.
Xam'd gives of a very strong Nausicaa feel. If you've seen the movie, then i'm almost certain you'll know what i'm on about when watching the first episode of Xam'd. Check it out.
Last Exile and Bonen no Xamdo share a similar sort of flying-ship style, as well as the broad sky travel theme in general. There are also a few scenes that bear some similarity to Last Exile's universe, such as the group of white-haired children.
Its from the same creators...
As i watch this serious i can't help but feel the same sense of anticipation i felt thought tengen toppa. What i mean is, they have the same feel to them, they have strong characters who grow on you, they have a guy who falls for a girl who's in love with their friend, even the xam'd and the machines look similar. The sound tracks could be interchangeable as well, they even have a similar vividness in colour. All in all if you loved Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann i believe you'll louve this too.
The art styles are similar, and the stories also have a lot in common. Drama, mystery, action, philosophy, both are great!
Similar Kind of story with romance, adventure and action.

Though the similarities aren't so obvious, if you observe closely you 'll find them.
Both series are based on the character development and the relations between them, having a melancholic atmosphere.
In one hand we have "Contractors" in the other "Xamdous". Both are treated like "monsters". Finally there is a controversy about justice and humanity in both shows.
awesome fighting scenes and same anime style
Stylistically, both animation and story are similar. Both center around a youth who discovers that there is much more to the world than he thinks there is, and is thrust into the midst of a battle for the world, his friends, and himself.

Both main characters have genetic transformation powers.
both are adventure stories with lots of reflection on what it means to be human
This is more WTF than Elfen Lied, Cuz so far I do not know yet what the hell is happening, of course this do not means it is bad!! the suspense man, the suspense.
fantasy world, flying ships and weird meccha.. that what they both share..they have the same feeling to each other in some way or another..
Both series revolve around a woman taking a boy under her wing and training him for the difficult task ahead of him which could threaten his life. Together, with the help of friends, they evade the capture of their enemies and make their way to ancient villages, leading them on a journey to save the world by depositing an "egg" of sorts at a promised place, as tradition calls for it.
Each world bears a resemblance to Japan, but is sort of an alternate dimension, and the female warrior who cares for the boy is from a foreign land.
Both series have excellent plots, moving dialogue, and exquisite animation and artwork, as well as surreal concept design, ranging from environments to costumes to creatures, and even customs, and various clues are weaved into the series which play critical roles to the final outcome.
Xam'd and Moribito are both top-notch and deserve more attention than they are getting.
Wacky, Wild, Biopunk, futuristic, and mecha. Definitely similar.
The mystery within ourselves...
have the power to change the world against all odds
I think they are both really similar due to the fact that both involve a war between aliens and mankind and the use of immensly advanced technology.
in linebarrels the main char gets hit by a giant mech which gives him powers n the ability to control it, while in xam'd the main char is involved in a explosion where a light goes into his arm n he transforms into a xam'd...both of them have some similarities as you get deeper into each...both of them are considered no longer human
