The 2nd Season of the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series, A series made by the same people that are behind Apple Seed. The two share a similar setting and if you like one you'll love the other no doubt. The 2nd season did what i personally thought was impossible, to not only match but better the 1st season of the series.

A similar series made by the people that are behind Apple Seed. Masamune Shirow is a class act, both Ghost in the Shell and Apple Seed are his creations. The two series share a similar setting and liking one series will mean that you'll love the other as well, thats a fact. Even the protagonists of the two series (Deunan from Apple Seed and Motoko from Ghost in the Shell) share some traits. My personal favourite anime series of all time.
