If you like animes where the main focus is love and relationships between characters, and all the emotions that come from it, then you will like these two shows. Both deal with a lot of powerful dramatic themes, such as sorrow and nostalgia. They deal mostly with being separated from the person you love/care about, and how that can affect your life. During the course of the show you might get attached to the characters and really experience their struggle and their pain. Plus, you can really relate to the characters if you have been through something similar (and perhaps even if you have not).  read more

They are side stories to their respective shows, and they both have a slightly more melancholic and emotional feel to them. Both of these shows share the painful truth that many people face early in their love life that loving someone can hold the other person back even when it's not entirely either person's fault. I just wish that they both had full series devoted to their stories.

The Clannad OVA is an alternate timeline love. Amagami has a new alternate timeline every 4 episodes. Both involve school aged romance. Amagami is not as dramatic and has no supernatural elements, but it reminds me of this alternate timeline.

Both have female characters that are boyish on the outside but are really sweet on the inside. Both are class presidents and really care about the students at the school. Both are really strong. Misaki is kind of a combination of Kyou and Tomoyo from Clannad though is more similar to Tomoyo. Tomoyo and Misaki both have a love interest who would do anything for them. Clannad is a lot more serious while Maid-sama tends to be more light-hearted but still has its serious and romantic moments.

First of all it tells how the main protagonist's life would be different if he wound up with a different girl. In Clannad Tomoya ends up with Nagisa but this tells how it would be like if he was with Tomoyo like how Da Capo If tells how it would be if Jun'ichi wound up with Kotori.

Although Tomoyo is superior... it's essentially the same story. The main character goes with the school idol and everyone around her trying to tear them apart.
