Phantom ~ Requiem For the Phantom is fanciful than Golgo 13, but both delve into the world of elite assassins. If you liked one, you may well want to consider the other.

Violence, shooting, crime, professionals.

Both are about bounty hunters and incorporate lots of jazz music. Bebop is in a futuristic setting while Golgo 13 is more or less the present. They are both episodic being that pretty much every episode is about chasing a new bounty instead of having an overall storyline.

Both are exceptional gunmen in worlds filled with jazz music, ladies and death. Cobra is set in space while Golgo is set in the regular world

Anime protagonists with professional killers. Golgo 13 the protagonist is very smart and simply cold and the best sniper in the world, for those who like very op. Dark Than Black has very op protagonist as well. Recommend!

Both are episodic series featuring a competent, cool protagonist.

If you've enjoyed the revenge of Hell Girl, you will most likely enjoy the hits by Golgo 13. In a way you get to see both sides of the coin. In Hell Girl you will see the victim receive help, and in Golgo you will see the predator attacking the prey.

Although "Monster" and "Golgo 13" have vastly different settings and storylines, both anime share a similar sense of suspense and intrigue. Both stories feature protagonists that find themselves in morally difficult situations as they try to accomplish their goals. "Monster" follows the story of a surgeon who encounters a deadly criminal while "Golgo 13" follows an assassin as he embarks on dangerous missions. Both protagonists must use their own unique style of problem solving in order to succeed. The suspense and tension in both shows is similar and the characters in both shows find themselves in morally ambiguous scenarios. Ultimately, the similarities between these two  read more

Both main characters are very cold and almost seem emotionless. The plot differs in that Golgo is an assassin, and Akagi a gambler, but the animes have a similar vibe to it. It would suprise me if you cried for either anime. Akagi plays more mind games.

While Golgo 13 is episodic and Kaiji is not: Both are manly af. Both have badass protagonist. Both deal with dark stuff, assassination in Golgo 13 and gambling in Kaiji. Both are Seinen and are aimed at adults. Both have similar atmosphere and vibe. Both have similar art style (bold art lines, shadows). Both are kind of dramatic.

Both features a main character that is detached with unrealistic killing skills. And of course the sex.

Episode adventures of a master criminal and the way they carry out the illegal assigment. Both are oldschool anime.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Episodical shows about masters of their craft with great reputation being hired to to they work for ridiculously huge amount of money. While technically both of these protagonists do illegal work, one is saving lives while the other one is ending them.

Similarities - Both MCs are top assassins - Both MCs have no feelings and always succeed in killing their target - Both MC have crazy OP abilities - Both MC are similar ages - Both run away from law enforcement Differences - Sekai is a reincarnation story - MC in Sekai is sent into another VS. Golgo isn't - Golgo is a Japanese VS. MC in Sekai is an American - Golgo kills witnesses

Both share manliness at its finest. Both protagonists have a sheer overdose of masculinity (just look at their eyebrows, MANLY!) and defeat their opponents with epic feats (Kenshiro with Hokuto Shinken and Duke with his unrivaled sniping skills).

* It is about an hitman * The hitman is emotionless # The feeling is really different as Golgo 13 has sex scenes instead of romance focus # Glass Heart isn't separated in arcs like Golgo 13. Instead, it shows a development in the scenario.

Episodical stories of a protagonist on the bad side of law, as the plot follows him executing his plans to get the targed. Just in once case the deed is theft while in the other case it's murder.

MC goes in a mission. Both have adult undertones and the CIA is involved. Mild action happens with guns.

Similar mod James Bond vibe and mostly one-off plots with shoot-em-up action.

Both animes are about professional assasins, secret missions and stuff Both are pretty brutal and serious

Golgo 13 is realistic in its setting and Mellowlink that of a sci-fi future. Golgo 13 is a mysterious, high paid assassin and Mellowlink simply a soldier out for revenge. None the less, the characters share an intense determination, superior physical reflexes, weapon skills, and tactics. Gritty is a word used by other reviewers for both and I agree. Mellowlink dates from the late '80's and although Golgo 13 series from 2008, both offer crisp animation without a a bunch of CG glitz. If you liked one, do consider the other.

Golgo and Harimanada are both invincible, living by their own strong rules, dead serious but also self-assuredly relaxed. And they don't talk much. Their deeds do. This is especially true for Golgo while Harimanada is less emotionally detached and occasionally insults his opponents violently bashing their poor effort. Both characters are voiced by great actors with deep and memorable voices.

Golgo 13 has a very different pace than Tokyo Tribe 2 but it is still about one very GAR Mother F...... living on the wrong side of the law.

Both of them have a gun-shooting, badass main character, and they love women, a lot. The difference is their personalities, Golgo 13 (Duke Togo) is a stoic man with pretty much no human emotions, who is always serious, while Ryo Saeba is a fun, outgoing man who knows when to play and when to be serious.

Both series are made up of episodic stories instead of long drawn out plots. Even though Golgo kills people and Conan solves crimes, the formula is pretty much the same.
report Recommended by moush
Both are episodic adaptions of manga about manly men, doing manly things. Where Keaton is a master of all trades, Golgo only solves his problems one way: with a sniper rifle.
report Recommended by nicepants
Both have a dark mood, and both of the main characters are very strong, and use guns as their main weapons.
report Recommended by IntroverTurtle
These two anime give off a similar vibe to me because the MC always wins and there isn't really a huge overarching story line. The main difference is that Takumi wins through a mix of luck and skill while Duke Togo operates with pure skill alone.

Both are violent. Both have some sexual stuff in them. Another thing that's similar to High school of the dead is a manga called Kingdom of zombie. Kingdom of zombie and Highscool of the dead both have zombies.

Although Golgo lacks the bonding aspect that Rainbow has they are still both extremely Gar or manly with extremely badass main characters.

Both series features a MANLY protagonist who are placed in various scenarios from assassination, adventure & espionage. Cobra is set in Star Wars-like world while Golgo 13 is placed in a realistic urban setting. Cobra features aliens, robots & nude women while Golgo 13 features assassins, mobsters, & passionate sex scenes. These animes are made by men for men as they're full of action, guns, fights, women & overall MANLY!

Both retain a classic feeling art styles with inspiration from 60's and 70's manga and anime Both have relatively simple stories but are fun

In both of these, the protagonist is a professional for hire, so good at his job he's pretty much the best in his field, yet maintains cool-headed approach without getting over-confident. Both are hired to get rid problems, but while one is assasin, the other one is a hunter of mythical creatures.
