capeta and hajime no ippo is both about a beginner who fell in love with a sport. both the main characters start from the bottom and move their way up
While Major revolves around Baseball, Capeta's about racing. Despite being sports, the essence of both stories are about a boy who struggles through all hardships chasing their dreams. Its another heart warming, motivating series worth watching.

Capeta, left with a widowed father had forced himself to be self reliant from young. Surviving poverty, Capeta has given up on indulgence in every way he could. What he just couldn't give up, was his desire to race. Even when he knew that racing was not a sport for the impoverished.

With no money, no sponsor, Capeta fought the odds supported by his friends and fueled by the desire to carry on- no matter how.

Both are sports animes and talk about a young boy who wants to be a great sportsman (Capeta in racing, Tsubasa in Soccer), but have great difficulties to achieve his dream. Also, character design are much alike.
Both plots revolve around racing competitions, although in IGPX is futuristic while Capeta is more in the present. In Capeta, there is more of a Hikaru No Go type rivalry going on with the main character than with IGPX, which was to me more a struggle with sudden popularity.
If you like sports anime capeta is very similar to major as it focus on one guy ( Capeta) and his will to become the best driver in the world.

Both shows start out with bright eyed youths and show how they become masters of their chosen sport. Both shows have a progression through years (and years!) of work instead of seasons and cover a large chunk of a character's lifespan.
Capeta has a younger feel to it than Initial D, but both are your competitive/sports animes about racing. Capeta drives a go cart and Takumi is a street racer, but they have similar themes about skill vs equipment and the meld of man and machine. The main difference is probably attitude: Capeta has a blue collar, constant struggle feel to it (like Hajime no Ippo) and Initial D is much more of a diamond waiting to be polished (like Major).
