both are different endings of evangelion

Both movies deal with love, parenthood and the reshaping of worlds The protagonists, Shinji and Ayato, become averse to piloting due to the devastating consequences of their actions and have parents that want them to use their ability for just that (Shinji's father Gendoh and Ayato's mother Maya). Both are are caught between allegiances (Shinji between NERV and Wille, Ayato between the Mulians and TERRA).

The central theme of both films is moving on. A lot of the characters are finally able to just have a normal* conversation with each other to voice out their feelings. and lastly, there is a lot of meta-commentary on each respective franchise.

Comparisons are less on the story level but very strong on the visual spectacle of both movies. Both leave you with the sense you "get the gist of what's happening" but never the full picture, even explanations for both get very complex and in-depth interpretations but in a sense, they're products that could be looked at very straightforward. It could be said that both have an SoL beginning while the development feels very distant from that, almost like it's trying to overwhelm the audience. Talking about the audience it seems as though they leave with an ethereal feeling after watching the films, meaning something that  read more

Both are finale movies to alternate versions of the TV anime they spun off from that completely set aside the themes presented in said series in favor of an ending that completely breaks the pre-stablished ideals.

Both of these are for me atleast similiar in execution even with Eva 3.0 because the main focus of both is really on the meta commentary of its own culture and affect the fandom of their each franchise. In otherwords i see both franchise are really commenting the culture surrounding its franchise with different conclusions which Gundam gives you conclusion of fantasy being in a space warfare of real robot Genre is rather childish not something to dream of, also shows the MC how cruel it can be living in that fantasy. And as Eva Rebuild goes it comments on how the obsession of Eva  read more

Season 2, Part 1 of Re:Zero- Subaru mulls over his mistakes and trauma throughout this arc. In the episode "Parent and Child", Subaru meets his parents and confronts his past during a fantastical trial offered by the Greed Witch. Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 - Shinji mulls over his mistakes and trauma throughout the movie.Shinji confronts his father, Gendo, in a surreal "Anti-Universe". In doing so, the movie explores Gendo's tragic past and his similarities to Shinji. Both show use fantastical frameworks to explore the psyches of their main characters. Both characters are kinda pathetic, lonely high school boys forced into dangerous circumstances due to the plot. There's also some weird  read more

Both were released in the same year as smash hit mecha series featuring a movie that is reminiscent to that of the previous conclusion of the main series taking place way back before the 2000s. Where Hathaway deals with the conclusion of CCA following the pollution of the galactic superpower, 3.0 + 1.0 takes on cues from End of Evangelion as a way to retell the story under a different revision. They are stellar in writing, music, and animation (Tomino and Anno, Hiroyuki and Sagisu, and Sunrise and Production I.G.) Protagonists (Hathaway and Shinji) suffer trauma that happened in the previous war that led them to developing psychological  read more

Stories about a burden, about growing as a person with the help of others.

Both are shaping up to end their respected shows that began long ago with lots of twists and turns that make the experience a must-watch. Also, Higurashi and Evangelion share a lot of similarities in terms of being emotionally impactful.

Both films are reconstructions to their tv series and the conclusions as well featuring a protagonist suffering psychological issues post tv series while others fight on the frontline to defend the entire world from interplanetary invaders. While 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer left to many of those salty, 3.0 + 1.0 left a satisfying taste to those who were not content with End of Evangelion.

Both are alternate take on their series as films meant to reconstruct the tropes deconstructed in the previous series focusing on other characters aside from the main protagonist who took up a lot in the main series. Fukkatsu No Lelouch leaves a new branch for more series to pave way while 3.0 + 1.0 ends on a note that all Evangelion fans desired for years since EoE.
