Kamen no Maid Guy

Ah Yes, Kamen no Maid Guy: The series that follows the straightfoward style of your average butler anime, but makes twists and turns along the way to make a very original and unique anime.

Story: The story was very thin, but in a way that was for the better. A basic premise; Two siblings living alone are inheriting a ridiculously large sum of money when the elder sister, one Fujiwara Naeka, comes of age inherit. However the twist to the usual setting; Due to assassins for the inheritance coming after their lives, Two maids are sent to live with them; One, a powerful, almost superhuman maid guy, and the other a calm, beautiful and powerful force of nature who acts as the maid guy's "Tamer" of sorts.

There was minimal in terms of progress, but as I said, it is for the better. This series focuses not on it's background but on giving you the biggest, dirtiest ROFL it can dish out of you. The only time it mentions the story would be the last episode, where you see why they don't mention it. :(

Art: Very basic, however, as this series focus for its comedy was from boob jokes and the maid guy, the main focus of the art were all of the breasts and the maid guy. Strangely enough, it turned out well, and flowed perfectly with the situations made throughout.

Sound: Probably the best part of this anime outside of the jokes is the BGM. All of the music flows perfectly with the situations and the gags, and helps leave the comedic footprint in your brain much better. As for the Theme songs, The Opening was a funny song that opened up the anime pretty well (Hence why it's called an Opening :) )As for the ending, The song in itself was a little serious sounding, but the animation and the lyrics were funny enough to make up for i.t :)

Character: Very similar to the story in the sense that they Don't develop the characters, but because they don't, it's a better anime. The characters, instead of learning about themselves, spend the entire time of each episode trying to get themselves out the hilarious (and usually erotic) situations that they themselves or The maid guy makes.

Enjoyment: Save the last episode, I enjoyed the series very thoroughly. The series was light-hearted and fun, it was a pleasure and relaxing to watch each episode. And in the last episode, there is a slight hint at a another season being a possiblity, so there's a chance that there could be more to enjoy. :)

Overall: I enjoyed this anime wonderfully. I would recommend watching at the first opportunity you get. However, if don't like boob jokes or maid comedy, I would avoid this series, considering that those two concepts make up about 80% of the series. AH! Spring Anime! Nothing short of expecting what is good and what is not. Kamen no Maid Guy fell short of mine even if it is still at the middle of airing but I'm pushing through with my review for the heck of it. ^_^

Story:
Story?! What story? This series got the common "heiress/heir" plot with more ecchi moments at the start and starting to get lackluster nearing the end. Random moments are also imminent as the heroine tries to cope up to the cheesy but "fun" high school life as most anime series would use these days but with the addition of maid servants hired as "bodyguards" until the heroine would come of age to inherit the fortune much akin to Hanaukyo Maid Tai.

Art:
MADhouse animated this one and for me, the animation is pretty average to earlier works recently like Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. No fancy artwork much used and pretty much consistent until now.

Sound:
Honestly, the OP/ED gave this one plus points for me. Kotoko did the OP and the song was upbeat and catchy while the ending is funny and heavy-metal influenced. Voice acting is average with the exception of Kogarashi. His voice is perfect for being the "Maid Guy" like being sinisterly evil but funny when caught in hilarious ecchi moments or jokes.

Character:
Boing! That much pretty sums it up for characters. Big-busted and not your above-average high school student, the main character (Naeka) kind of bores me with her attitude and traits. Same goes with other characters like her brother (NEET and likes to play eroges), a mysterious transfer student slash loli with her maids too. Particularly, only Kogarashi and Fubuki (the other maid) made good impressions for me.

Enjoyment:
Well, to be honest, I did enjoy this series at the start but it has begun to bore me approaching the end (slated for 12-episodes only as of this writing). One may enjoy the normal ecchi scenes and moments early on but it drags the storyline even more due to just an everyday episode in the life of the heroine.

Overall:
Give this anime a shot IF YOU ARE BORED or TO PAST TIME WITH but stay away from it if you are fed up with linear stories of ecchi/inheritance/maids/high school life type of anime series. The series looks promising if the story decides to take a turn for the good at this point in the middle but I'm keeping my hopes up for this series to end good...*crosses fingers*. :D read more

Think crazy+maid guy+ maid fetish side character. This show is unique beyond belief, the character design of Kogarashi is very hard to get use untill you understand where the inspiration for the design came from, he is meant to look like a samurai or war lord to suit Fujiwara Naeka (the main female characters) fetish for strong men, all the while this is being described by Fujiwara Naeka grandfather who is planning to hand over his fortune to his granddaughter Fujiwara Naeka when she turns 18 in half a year (yet she doesn't know this). Fujiwara Naeka and Kogarashi relationship isn't exactly harmonious he is best described as a large wild beast who is impervious to all conventional attacks, common sense and moral decency. Tho Fujiwara Naeka has a secret weapon a whistle that works just like Goku's golden headband.

The opening song is performed by Kotoko who have done sond for other shows such as onegai teacher/twins, Hayate the Combat Butler, Kannazuki no Miko, Starship Operators and Shakugan no Shana, the music it's self is upbeat and lively which help with the atmosphere of this show.

The voice acting is superbly done especially by Koyama Rikiya who quiet literately breaths life into the role of Kogarashi and makes the character not only an extension of himself but an entirely new entity.

The art style looks simplistic at first but this is due to what should be call the "no poor scenes" style there are no badly animated parts or dead animation it is above average all the time and when Kogarashi is in frame the quality only seams to get better.

Overall this show can not be recomended highly enough it is a unique comedy with a few eechi joke but not overly used to the point of it might as well be hentai, this is a must watch show. read more

Hey folks, this will be a review for Kamen no Maid Guy. This anime is rather dated, but this doesn't make it bad. However overall this anime actually had a point or two more in terms of potential that was needlessly squandered. Lets get into why.

The story is sort of interesting at the surface level. We have two children who will receive their grandfathers inheritance once they turn 18. Doesn't seem to matter if hes dead or alive. These two children however are supposedly being targeted by various others in the family because they want the inheritance instead. This causes the grandfather to assign two maids to the kids to do for them and to protect them. Not a bad plot line, it had me interested at least.

Unfortunately they decide to say "Screw the plot we have designed. Lets revolve this anime around our Maid Guy and his antics.". Now that again wouldn't be bad but the show was very wishy washy with all of it elements. "So we will focus on the struggle of these maids to keep these kids safe so they inherent everything?". "Yes but only for about 3 episodes, and make 2 of those episodes rather shallow and pointless". "Alright, if we are going for a less serious anime then we should focus on the antics of our wacky combat maids.". "Yea they should be the focus but lets change their characters around a few times and also lets force them into shallow roles so they are an icon but not given much screen time.". "Hmm ok, so what will our show be about?". " I would say lets make jokes based off of one characters boobs the entire time and not progress anything else until the last episode."

That's how I imagine the thought process behind the show. Someone took the time to come up with a decent plot, interesting characters, and interesting ways to add in humor and other elements. The other guy decided that the show would be better by making rather terrible jokes about how big the main characters boobs are. Now that sounds pretty bad when I say it like this but I didn't mind the change of reality very much, it just would have been more interesting if they kept the good ideas rather than poorly executed boob jokes. After all there are tons of anime based around boobs and they also tend to have better art and humor.

Art was dated. Overall it wasn't terrible, but I did notice that sometimes the characters would have huge chins and all the parts of the face were way high on the face. Soundtrack wasn't bad, and voice acting was pretty good.

The characters were set to be interesting. Our two main characters are Fujiwara, Naeka and Fujiwara, Kousuke. Naeka is great at kendo, but terrible at just about everything else. She is a tsundere of sorts, and is dumb(because her boobs took all of her brain nutrients). Kousuke is a chubby maid obsessed little brother. He doesn't play much of a role other than a supporting unit for the gags. Kogarashi is the maid guy who is interesting enough with his muscles bulging out of a maid costume. However to add to his interest he is mysterious and powerful and almost always has a solution to a situation. He also lacks delicacy and often gets in trouble because he doesn't see women as women. Fubuki is the female maid, and early on she is shown to be the balance of power and brains. She reigns in Kogarashi when he goes overboard and does some really interesting tricks and has a womanly personality.

Our main characters had promise. The kids don't matter much and they pretty much were there to bounce jokes and gags off of. Fubuki went from a strong elegant maid to a clumsy mediocre character. The show is called maid guy but her drop in power was pretty severe. Kogarashi goes from being indelicate and unstoppable to being somewhat stoppable and a backdrop so most of the story. This is even more interesting to me because the show is titled after him.

I had wanted to mention a few other characters but they are hardly worth mentioning. Strawberryfield, Elizabeth K. is a good representation of the side characters. I thought she was going to change up the slice of life pace of the show but I was wrong. Even though she receives an episode or two of development shes dropped and forgotten like every other side character. While your watching your constantly prepared for something to happen and when you reach the end you are left thinking. "Was that it. Is there more? What happened in this show.".

As much complaining as I have done I will admit I liked the show. It was funny and I enjoyed the way they presented it to me. I think this show drops the ball on important things, but it still is a fun watch. I think the manga would fix a lot of the issues, or what I think they were prepared for, a second season. Unfortunately there is no second season. This show just builds expectations and it just ends and makes you feel a little confused. That isn't as bad as spending more than half of the show being one thing then trying to be M. Night Shyamalan with the last portion.
