Both anime are adaptations of a RPG game by Leaf and were animated by the same studio. The plot is a bit similar, since the main characters have to defend their country from any enemy that tries to conquer it.
same producers, same character design, same visual novel producer (leaf)
they both have to do with war and both are in a middle-aged/old age setting.
cute girls too =3
Similar style, characters, and story. Made by the same company, if you like one you will like the other.
They have the same game company and character designer. Both are set in a medieval world. Both have war as main theme. Some of the characters are similiar (Octavia-Touka,Riannon-Eruru etc)
They have the same Character designer, Both from the same game company Leaf/AQUAPLUS that made the game. Both have war as a theme. And both have a lot of Cute and beautiful girls.
They are quite similar in the ways of popular fanservice design and harem attributes. However plot in TtT is much more complex and though it still lacks darkness and seriousness to be perfect, some mistakes made in Utawarerumono are defenitely fixed. So, if you liked Utawarerumono you'll most likely like Tears to Tiara too. But if you didn't it doesn't mean you won't like TtT.
Utawarrerumono follows a similar story, with similar characters. Heck it even has similar characters motvations. They have the same producer, character designer, and Visual Novel Creator. If you have seen the first four episodes of one, then you have seen the first four episodes of the other.
Tears~to~Tiara= Utaware~Clone~Show!
same producers, style, characters, and story and both are in a middle-aged/old age setting. Both anime are adaptations of a RPG game by Leaf.
Mystical protagonist who simply attracts different characters on his quest to save the world. Same length on the anime even.

Both series are placed in a fantasy world and are centered around small groups of characters going on a quest with a war raging on in the background. Both anime are also based on games and characters represent variuos fighting styles (ranged, magical, melee).
The characters are kind of similar.
They have kind of the same art style.
Both animes are about war between kingdoms.
And I have the same kind of feeling while watching these animes.
well , the both of them have a lot of things in common . they are based on video games , a great fantasy world with great story line , the weapons are nearly the same (swords, arrow bows,etc...) , the main character has mysterious sort of power and they are similar to each other in visuals.
Two rpg-style fantasy animes and in both there is a group of people going on an adventure to save the world.

Premises are slightly different, execution and themes are quite similar. In both series, you have a relatively kind hearted demon lord getting their own male followers, and female warrior/magician harem, and falling into certain plots of possible enemies.
Both have a demon king and both a harem.

Both are about the legend of a lonely demon. In both there is a King who is kind and as a best friend who serves him and helps him. Both follow a group of friends and a huge war against enemies in order to protect the place they live as well the two best friends who have to face many things to be able to trust each other and remain together. The animation is quite similar too.
Deals with magic , heroes , demons and legends .

Both involve references to mythology and legend, especially Aruthurian legends.
The main theme is similar in both these anime: I have to get stronger to protect everyone I love and end this war. Both anime are in the fantasy genre. There are also lots of action and suspense, mysterious objects that contain power, etc. In my opinion, both anime are outstanding and unique.

Well both of them are similar in the sense that they were both developed from videogames (One being an MMORPG). This one was quite enjoyable throughout its expansive storyline and detailed characters... (Plus they have dragons and shiz, how's that for a cool story?) :'3

They are similar in the fact that the english dub version of each is a little irish (music for fairy tail-speech for tears to tiara). the settings are pretty different and the comedy side of things are more toned down in tears to tiara whereas fairy tail is more modern. the fighting side of things are great on both sides and an air of mystery hangs around a few episodes.but altogether if you watch them they will entertain you quite efficiently :D xx

General setting wise, both of these shows mix just a little bit of historical fiction into a largely fantasy setting. Gintama is set in Japan while Tears to Tiara is set in Medieval Europe. Beyond that, the most striking similarity are its main characters.
Both Gintoki and Arawn have silver hair and red eyes, and they are (or in Gintoki's case, was) known as a devil because of their fighting ability. Even some of their mannerisms are similar. Both of them are slightly lazy, Gintoki more so than Arawn. They are both slightly silly at times, but have their serious, profound moments too.

Both animes are about a war between Galia and a sort of Roman empire. Both deal with a lot of ancient myths and legends. Both of the main girls are the key to end the war.

Both are epic fantasy anime from spring season 09. Both are about siblings fighting a war they didn't start. Both pair of siblings have royal blood in their veins, and are aided by a magical creature (Guin/Lord Arawn). Both female leads are some kind of prophets and sorceresses.
Tears to Tiara contains a few fragments of comedy, which makes it slightly less dramatic than Guin Saga. But both anime are great entertainment and if you enjoy one of them, then you should be able to enjoy both.

Very similar theme; a group of soldiers who fought with melee weapons and magic. You'll see many similarities, if you liked one of these, you have to watch other one. Tears to Tiara is respectively longer and have many little chapters before it comes to main goal , but overall it's the same subject.

"Believe in yourself!"
"Who the hell do you think I am?"
Arawn (Tears to Tiara) just keep spewing out the quotes that Kamina (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) is famous for.
