Synopsis

The legend of the Divine Gate is a story told to young children that depicts the merging of the living world, the heavens, and the underworld. "Adapters"—people born with unique elemental abilities gifted to them from the union of these worlds—formed the World Council, an organization which controls the chaos of the Gate by portraying its legend as nothing more than a myth. These Adapters train in a special academy owned by the World Council that allows the students to hone their skills.

Aoto, a teenage boy with exceptional water powers and a tragic past, rejects the offer to join the academy numerous times—until he is successfully pressured by the energetic wind user Midori and stubborn fire user Akane. Together, with the World Council and their mysterious leader Arthur, they seek out the Gate in the hopes of uncovering the truth. But in order to reach their goals, they must unite and overcome their own despair while dealing with behind the scene mischief.

In my opinion the real problem with this anime is the lack of plot, the lack of storyline. The explanation of how their things work and what the characters are doing is also not portraited well. Simply put the storyline is not interesting. The usage of CGI in some of the battle scenes also gave me bad impressions. Although the characters, the animation and the theme songs gave me very good impressions. There ware only a few characters i actually disliked. This anime has such potential of becoming soo good but the problem is the lack of events happening. Like literally there ware just ...

Mixed Feelings
Divine Gate was an average sci-fi fantasy watch, until the ending rendered it unsatisfying. The characters clearly had an objective, but they never solved anything in the end. All the build up was wasted and essentially the story went back to square one.

The characters were fine, but not groundbreaking and the premise seemed fun at first until it reach generic territory. The trio were typical: we got energetic boy, slightly serious boy with a traumatic past, and happy girl with friendship issues. Together they fight to fulfill the goals they will fail to accomplish anyway.

The villain was also typical and the adult characters were typically ...

Now this shows promised a lot but failed to deliver. The main problem with this anime is how it tries to be phylosophical and deep although being just a typical shounen anime. The first annoying thing you will notice is lot of narration describing what characters feel instead of showing this to way in other ways. The other big problem is the last episodes. They fight to the end to change their fate and break free from destiny and then give up and accept being controlled by the Council. This looks like NWO propaganda. They could have changed the world so that there is ...
