SynopsisTransfer student, Aoba Shunsuke, arrived at Sunshine School only to find the premises empty. He was secretly gleeful to be the first to reach the school, oblivious to the fact that it was Foundation Day and a rest day for the institution. At that moment, a big-sized "L"(Eru) beauty by the name of Natsumi appeared before him and the two of them hit off together even though Shunsuke was so much smaller than her. Shunsuke's mother runs a women's apparel busines but the shop is in need of manpower.
Shunsuke offers to help out at the shop but fumbles a lot because he does not know how to interact with the ladies. Eru decides to step in and help out around the shop and this pleases Shunsuke's mother. This is a romance story that shares the joys and woes of the "SL" combi between Shunsuke and Eru.

Only watched the first 7+ episodes, RAW. but i watched enough subbed anime to know this is a slightly-above-average romantic comedy. Shusuke's your slightly shorter-than-average high school boy who meets up with a taller-than-average high school girl Eru. and sparks don't fly immediately with their first meeting. The story takes awhile to develope. The writing is above average, The animation is dated, but still good. the music is a bit generic and the OP reminds me a bit (too much) of the Steel Angel Kurumi OP, but maybe it's me. That's the only knock i have with this series. kinda' like this show, and being a guy, i usually stay away from this genre, but still, it's kinda. . .compelling. I'll probably come back and watch it again read more

You have a 'short' guy (shunsuke) in love with a 'tall' girl (Eru), and there is some hilarity due to the height discrepancies between these two. Shunsuke and Eru aren't Otani and Risa, but they have a good relationship.. Lovely Complex plays it for laughs more than Kabocha, but there is a good romance story going on here, and the longer span of Kabocha draws it out more than Love Com, but there is still a lot to like about this show.It won't be for everyone's liking
This was most likely the inspiration behind Lovely Complex as it feels like a "modern" version of Kabocha Wine. Very similar story premise. Short guy and a tall girl
