In the second season of Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, Shirayuki continues her adventures, this time returning to her home country of Tanbarun. What adventures and misfortunes will befall her and her crew? Life is dangerous for those with rare red hair!
I really recommend it but you have to have seen the first season or else... IT WON'T MAKE SENSE!
It's just one episode away to finish but I'm pretty sure how it will end, GOOD! it's an enjoyable romantic story and the best part (from my perspective) is that it's not only based on romance but comedy, mystery, slice of life and other categories as well. So don't go judging a book by it's cover since it could possibly be your new favourite ship! (yes, SHIP).
The art is beautiful, sound, and the character development takes place throughout the story. You get to see all the characters - new ones as well, develop and grow from who they used to be. The dense ones become... well, you can watch it and tell me yourself.
As for myself, I enjoyed it since the story is so beautiful. Although it has nothing to do with snow white so I've been confused from a while e__e (it was only explained somewhat on the first season).
The only reason I'm giving it a 9/10 is because for me a 10 is something I could watch all over again until I throw up and my eyeballs bleed (sorry for the disturbing images) but it doesn't mean it's not a masterpiece.
Hopefully there will be a third season ;-; only reason why Mondays were gooood. hope you enjoy it and remember to watch first season! read more
“The amount of happiness that you have depends on the amount of freedom you have in your heart.” A quote fitting for this anime on all levels, but what can you do when u are forced to move out of your own home? When you are forced to run cause you are weak and all alone? This is a question Shirayuki probably asked herself when she had nowhere to go, but she had a strong will and goal so she pressed forward and I think ha cause of fate met a person which changed her life, Zen.
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2nd season is another great work of the director Masahiro Ando. Well first I would advice you to watch the first season since the second season follows youup the first one. Masahiro Ando is known for his important roles in some of the major anime out there from Fullmetal Alchemist to Canaan and Cowboy Bepop ...
Well what were my first impressions of the two seasons?
The most strange part is that the she is called "snow white" even though she has beautiful RED hair, but it is kinda explained in he first season. It is good mix of romance and action when not a single episode is boring or lacking progress. In he begging of he series i thought "oh look another short 12 - episode anime which is probably a copy of everything before". But that wasn't the case here, everything that the first season lacked the second once improved and I hope for a season 3.
Well I think that mostly people thought that the series will be just a plain love story - fantasy, but that wasn't the case. The story and character development were something else for me. I watched a lot of romance genre anime and I never really liked them because of the poor character development or it just had a bad/boring story. Well that changed when I discovered Akagami no Shirayuki-hime. What I loved the most in the whole Akagami series are the characters (main and support included). What irritates me the most is the slow progression of the relationship between Zen and Shirayuki, sure we all cue, holding hands scenes, but if you show that for 24 episodes it becomes dull and boring. Overall the quality is very good, but it has a lot of minor mistakes so that I cannot give it a 10 grade. The development of he rosy is good, but as I said slow and on some moments dull, well what can you expect on a anime that has only 12 episodes per season so that is the biggest downfall of the series.
The anime places in the medieval time in the Kingdom of Clarines, a rich powerfull kingdom on the border of Tanbarun (the home country of Shirayuki) where also a part of the anime takes place. The story mostly revolves around the second prince Zen Wistalia Clarines and Shirayuki, a girl which moved in to the castle with Zen and his followers in the first season. She has a dream/goal to become a count herbalist - she was a local herbalist in her hometown before she ran away because of the prince Raji Shenazard which wanted her to become his wife because of her special red hair.
Following the first season the feelings between the prince and Shirayuki grow even stronger and emotional, but there are not many love scenes where that is shown. Most of the time when they are alone together they just smile and laugh together, but Zen always says something that makes Shirayuki blush or feel so uncomfortable that she couldn't even look him in the eyes. Without the help of the supporting characters the anime would lack that special 'something' and the series wouldn't be complete. Well enough talk about the story of the anime because you need to watch the anime to feel this good experience. If you compare the both season the second one has definitely more action and it has improved in expressing feelings of every character.
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime isn’t exactly a classical Disney tale where there’s just prince charming and a easy happy ending. Rather, this show is what I’d envision as a unique story taste of vibrant coloring. After some peaceful in Clarines the prince of Tanbarun prepared a ball (dance) and so that he could apologize for all the mistakes he did he invited Shirayuki. Zen filled with jealousy had allowed her to go, but with heavy heart, so that to keep her safe he appointed Obi as her personal bodyguard. On the morning she went Shirayuki asked Zen if he could give her a reminder of him so that she wouldn't miss him. Well to keep it simple there was an accident (who would guess), Shirayuki was kidnapped and then kidnapped by another group of bandits. When Zen received the bad news he rushed to Tanbarun with his companions where he has met Raji the prince of Tanbarun. Together with Lions of the Mountains they rush to her aid and finally the had works pays of when they rescue her. A big plot twist occurs when she founds out that the leader of the Lions of the Mountain leader is her father. During the after party En confesses his felling to her father during heirs conversation, butt he does no know that Shirayuki has overheard everything. After that they returned to Clarines to the castle when everyday problems and struggles progress on.
The studio Bones did another good job for this anime. I always liked Bones work because it is quality made, you can check other series made by them if you do not believe me! They are also responsible for the good outcome of the Noragami Series and as I said Fullmetal Alchemist, Kekkai Sensen, ...
Well I can say that Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2nd season is not something ordinary and by all means it stands out from the romance - shoujo. As I said a4 the beginning it is no a normal Disney story with a fast happy ending, but a story filled with many obstacles and enemies. The story is made impressive because it took out the best parts of every genre: nice - cute scenes from Zen and Shirayuki, the great bonds between friends and supporting characters with Zen and the action scenes with deep emotions that keep you dragging in.
The artwork and all of the visuals are really well made, all the animations are just very good (although it does sometimes dip a bit in quality). Overall the series is exciting to watch (simple, but yet very attractive)the shows animation features vibrant colors combining elements of resourceful landscapes, architecture, and character designs. The Kingdom of Clarines is also shown to have fantastic features that is fitting for a grand castle along with its neighboring town.
The best thing about the series are of course the characters. The first season focused on the main "couple" Zen and Shirayuki, but in the second there is also some focus on the side characters. The voice acting is of an excellent and consistent quality, and I think that pretty much all the characters have voice actors which suit their personalities. The OP/ED theme song are decorative and well connected to its atmospheric setting.
All I can say is that the story is magical and full of colors.
What do I expect?
Mitsuhide and Kikis relationship development cause from what I can ses he loves her as almost as much as he loves Zen.
I would really recommend you this anime and the first season too. Overall the anime is well made and I really enjoyed it so I give it 10/10.
This is my first review so don't be to harsh.read more
The second season of Akagami no Shirayuki-hime was considerably better than the first. The story is much more stable, although it seems to have compromised some of the characters' morality and stability for that. Although it was pleasant enough to watch, there was still something lacking. I don't think the creators of this anime did a good job combining action and romance, or at least not as well as some other anime.
Personally, I think the anime became a chore to watch and finish...
Overall, the anime in itself was pretty good, but I believe the first season took away a lot of the enjoyment and potential this anime had.read more
Akagami no Shirayukihime or Snow White with the Red Hair in English is a beautiful Romance/Slice of life anime based in a Fantasy setting.
The second season in my opinion didn't have as much of an impact on me as the first season however has it's beautiful and tear jerking moments, some surpassing season 1.
The art style is perfect for the anime and the animation quality is top notch. However the story lacks a bit in my opinion as not a whole lot happens in terms of events, but you do learn a lot more about the supporting casts and Shirakyuki herself.
The anime focuses on Shirayuki and Prince Zen and their struggles due to the difference in their social statuses. There is a wide range of supporting cast whom are all likeable from the female knight Kiki who is the cool headed badass to the loyal Mitsuhide whom worries over Zen 24/7.
Much to my surprise one of the supporting cast from season 1 becomes an integral part of season 2 and even potentially part of the main cast, he is favourite male in the anime and totally deserves it.
If you enjoyed season 1 or are looking for a romance anime then this is definitely one to watch!
This review is simply my own personal opinion so do not take it at complete face value.read more
What is it that makes some women better characters than others of their gender? Looking past the highly sexualised culture and industry of fanservice that is anime, this writer examines a sample of female characters who made a lasting impression on them.
The shoujo genre is filled to brimming with sparkling love stories and romantic drama where an everyday girl somehow ends up with an attractive guy. But what if there's one which does away with the genre's status quo?
