Ame-iro Cocoa: Rainy Color e Youkoso!

Same as the first season , the episodes are roughly 2 minutes of content and 20 minutes of interviews with the voice actors . the characters get much more depth and development compared to the first season , which i found pleasing . it seems there might actually even be a story line with this season, which i really didnt feel from the first season. the comedy is also very light hearted and placed wonderfully throughout each episode . as with the first season the music fits the series perfectly , upbeat and cheerful. if youre looking for something easy going and quick to watch ... and are into very basic slice of life types , this is a good series to watch.

I have no idea why they bothered with a second season. I watched it thinking maybe they'd develop some of the characters that they'd introduced in the first season. Instead, they sidelined three of them for most of the season and introduced four more characters. Two of those characters are Shion's younger twin siblings who were composed of obnoxious tropes that they tried to play off as "cute". Spoiled younger siblings? Check. Brother complex? Check. Careless of others? Check. Ultimately, I found their antics annoying and their characters dislikeable. That made their decision to have the sibling's voice actors host a fanclub segment after the ... actual episode odd to me. The fan club segments are longer than the episodes!

My biggest problem with this show is that it provides more subtext than actual text. There are all sorts of hints at relationships of various kinds, but not much more than that. It's almost a blank slate and I can see people hanging a lot of meta or fanfiction off of that, but that's really not enough to make the show completely enjoyable by itself. These short little snap shot type shows can succeed, but you need to put a little meat on the bones or else it turns into this watered down cocoa mess. Also, what started out as a cute peppy pop song opening turns into the most torturous 30 seconds of your life after 24 episodes!

The second season of Rainy Cocoa puts three of the previous season's characters on a bus and introduces four new ones.

This season had a segment at the end of each episode (which was 3x as long as the actual episode) with the voice actors having fun. I actually enjoyed these segments a lot more than the episodes themselves.

I have to say I found the twins really annoying, Haruka's character inconsistent/developmentally rushed (although that is more due to the constraints of the series itself), and Jun really flat (though he's not really supposed to do much).

The "story" is just a mishmash of snippets in an ... attempt to make some sort of sense.

The anime itself I would give 3/10. The special segments at the end were enjoyable and are more 7 or 8/10.
