Synopsis

Humanity is under attack by demonic creatures called Oni. Unable to fight back by any other means, the scientist Dr. Saotome creates a series of giant robots that harness the mysterious power of Getter Rays, giving them the strength necessary to fight the Oni. The strongest of these is Getter Robo, and Saotome must enlist three very different men to pilot it - martial artist Ryoma Nagare, criminal leader Hayato Jin, and monk Benkei Musashibou. Together, the Getter Team fights to end the Oni menace forever. (Source: ANN)

Recommendations

Both are remakes of classic old school series. Both very nostalgic and contain badass over the top action.
They both have a very sketchy yet clean artstyle.
Shin Getter is about a group of manly men doing manly things while Casshern is about a lone badass doing manly things.
They both have a very similar feel and presentation. If you like old school anime and want something nostalgic then this perfect.

The story of New Getter Robo is definitely not its forte. Rather than focusing on actual storytelling, the plot mostly just seems like an excuse to pit the three violent and near-psychotic m... read more
