Synopsis

Five years ago, something horrifying happened on Kamioki Island. Something so nightmarish that it stripped all memory from Mari Wakatake's mind even as it left every other human on the island dead in its wake! Now enrolled against her will at an isolated girl's academy, Mari is unaware that hidden eyes are watching her, waiting for her memory to return.

Buried in her psyche is the most terrifying secret of all: while Mari was the only human who lived, she may not have been the only survivor! As something in a female skin invades Kaihou Academy, Mari's only hope may lie in a strange girl to whom she is inexplicably drawn yet cannot trust.

The following review would never be written if it weren't for the ending...it was very touching...it brought the show to a whole different level...anyway...

Blue Drop (BD) is a combination of slice of life school drama and sci-fi water action anime. In a nutshell, BD is not meant for those who only seeks action (slice of life HINT HINT). I would say about 70% of the show is slice of life-ish and 30% action.

Story:
The story itself is pretty easy to follow. Nothing too complicated, though I didn't expect the ending to be like that... It was a bit lacking at the end though due to read more

Blue Drop ~Tenshi-tachi no Gikoyku~ (The Angels Play) is the adaption to the manga Blue Drop (which I haven't read). One of my friends sent me a link to it, and I decided to check it out which I'm grateful for.

The greatest assets in this anime is the art. The art is superbly smooth and well done, details couldn't have been more and everything just looks so realistic. Already from the beginning you can see it, the beauty in the art. It is sparkling and dazzling and leaves a taste of wanting more.

The storyline can be a bit hard to understand first, it's more read more

Simoun and Blue Drop offer a mix of shoujo-ai and giant flying ships, a combination that does not occur all that often. In both cases there is a mostly female cast and a war backdrop that fuels the plot is balanced by the interaction between the several characters. Simoun is set in a somewhat fantastical world and follows the clash between religion and military accomplishments while Blue Drop takes place in a world that is more or less realistic
Figure 17 and Blue Drop have the same basic setting in which a young and lonely female protagonist forms a strong bond with a non human girl. Both have a strong sci-fi element without discounting slice of life moments that introduce character developments as the story progresses. Blue Drop has yuri undertones that are absent in Figure 17 but they both offer a balanced take on daily life drama spiced with aliens and adventure.
