SynopsisAeon Flux is a mysterious and amoral secret agent from the country of Monica. Her motives or background are left unexplained, as are those of her antagonist/love, Trevor Goodchild. On her missions, she deals swift, bloody "justice" to all that oppose her.
Peter Chung's subsequent show, Reign: The Conqueror (Alexander Senki), was animated by Madhouse and this is therefore arguably Anime.

What a show! That was my first thought after completing Æon Flux for the first time. Some would probably argue that this show should not even be here (although it is created by a Korean-American animator) but I've never bothered myself with such thoughts - the series would not allow you such mediocre reflection.
The whole story is weird and confusing but it basically revolves around two main characters. Æon Flux is a Monican agent-terrorist in a futuristic world who's main mission is to infiltrate and disrupt the operations of a neighboring city Bregna which is governed by a neurotic but intellectual leader Trevor Goodchild. Sounds familiar? Believe me, it is nothing (nothing!) you've ever witnessed.
The characters are the strongest part of the series. Trevor Goodchild is supposed to be the villain but it is so easy to sympathize with him that we often forget that and get involved in his endless experiments with human nature. Æon Flux meanwhile - an extremely skilled assassin - is who always interferes with Goodchild's plans and this relationship is a continuous flirt/love/hate between the two people who even involve the fate of the universe in their little game.
The art and sound are two dimensions which suffered the test of time and may leave you unpleasant. However, the dystopian, grotesque future that this show presents is so captivating and somehow realistic that you stop seeing the details and start understanding the meaning. Throughout this short show, Æon meets a variety of characters who in someway were affected by her lover Goodchild and the atmosphere that follows these weird encounters is fantastic.
This show will surprise you, anger you, leave you speechless and astonished and dare I say may even disappoint you? But if you are a patient spectator - I guarantee - it will reward you and elevate your mindset at surprising heights. Follow this show until the very end and by looking at the future, you may encounter something bizarre about our contemporary existence. read more

The artstyle of Trava instantly made me think of Aeon Flux. While the storytelling and the plots differ greatly, if you enjoyed the art in Trava, you might also like Aeon Flux.

Both of these have similar animation because they were made by the same person, so both stories are nice and bloody and have people wearing scandalous clothing...
