SynopsisKintarou Oe doesn't look like it, but he is a genius who completed all his university courses and then quit before graduating. He becomes a wandering student, going from place to place on his bicycle, seeking to learn what he can about life, the world, and women. He is willing and able to do any job he has to prove himself. His travels take him to a variety of locations and a variety of women, each who learns to love the hardworking guy, but not before he can run off.

Golden Boy is about a twenty five year old guy, named Kintaro, who had completed all credits for college but dropped out right before graduation. He has decided to study all he can learn about life. He now specializes himself in day-dreaming, temporary part time jobs dealing with different areas of interest, and lets not forget, beautiful girls. Kintaro travels on his trusty pink bicycle, keeping notes about what he learns about life in his notebook, and living his life in the happiest of ways. Kintaro is a very caring guy, always trying to help out and learn new things from different people. Even though people try underestimate him during the series, they can only to be proved how great and determined Kintaro can be, aside of his naughty little toilet fetish. Each episode he gets a new job, finding himself in the difficult situations, and always managing to have a gorgeous woman involved in the story.
Golden Boy is an anime with really no plot what so ever, but for some reason, it just made me love it even more. The whole time it just focuses on Kintaro going from temporary job to temporary job always finding these beautiful women, with different stories to each episode. I laughed so hard on this anime, I cried. The animation was good for the most part; it would go from extreme detail to kindergarten drawing, which just made it even more ridiculously funny. The one and only main character, being Kintaro, had great development; he was very expressive, emotional, determinative, crazily kind person with high value. You just couldn’t help but love him, even with his toilet fetish and perverted ways.
I loved the different aspects they show during the series about life and people always in the funniest of ways. The music was good, I loved the opening theme. I also loved how they show him traveling on his bicycle in the opening, I don’t know why, and I can’t really tell you why, but I just loved it. The English dub version was pretty good, so I would say you could watch it subbed or dubbed. I think in the English dub, his voice talent expressed him better, and just matched his personality better.
The sense of humor is very sexual and perverted, which can be offensive to the people who don’t find that sense of humor appropriate. I personally find implication of this type of comical humor hilarious.
I think if you have a perverted sense of humor, you will really love this anime. It has brief nudity, not really that it has a lot of sex, or nudity, but the strong sexual humor taints this anime!!! Golden Boy is for the mature audience, eighteen and older. Even though this is a mature anime, it will bring tears to your eyes it is so comical. I would say, if you like Golden Boy, I would also recommend you to take the time and watch GTO, Great Teacher Onizuka, which is some what on the same level of humor, and reminded me a lot of each other.

Golden Boy anime review by realanimefan.
First of all, you have to be a little open minded if you want to fully enjoy this story. Second be prepared for some perverted moments. Third, if you've overcome the first two get ready to laugh your butt OFF!!!!
Guys might enjoy this series a lot more than women would, and i being a guy of course enjoyed, no loved this anime series. I found it hilarous and entertaining. The main character Kintaro Oe is one of my favorite anime guys of all time, he seems to be able to say or do the things that all guys think or do and like most guys that live, he's clueless, but some how everything works out for him in the end no matter what he does which is what all guys really would like to screw up fix it and make your self look good, while all the girls fall madly in love with him! The old time theroy of Japenes is much better than English is almost always correct accept for this anime me having seen both japenese and english have to say the english is way better and even funnier, they were able to capture Kintaro's personality so much better in Englsh than in Japenese so I suggest watching thsi in English you won't be disapointed I promise! I only wished they made more anime series like this. The one thing that really peterbed me beyond madness was the fact that they only have 6 episodes and trust me you want more, this series leaves at a wanting state. Overall I would suggest this series to anyone even girls who can deal with some perverted moments! read more

GTO and Golden Boy are extremely similar in style and humor - both feature honest and hardworking leads who will go to great lengths to make a difference in another person's life. And both are prone to trouble, especially when women are involved.
The two shows have their differences though - they're similar enough that I'm absolutely sure anyone who enjoys one should watch the other, but not so similar that either feels like a ripoff.
Very similiar main lead, art style and humor.
Golden Boy and GTO have similar humor and style. When I watched GTO I kept thinking about how it reminded me of Golden Boy. Both of these animes deal with comical perverted guys who you just can't help but love.
The same humor and style. Main characters: Eikichi and Kintaro are very similar.
There both funny as hell!!!
Onizuka Eikichi from GTO and Oe Kintaro from Golden Boy are very similar characters. That goes for their personalities and even applies to things such as the facial expressions they make. They are both perverted guys who act goofy most of the time but when it comes down to it, they always deliver and save the day.
The art and animation style for the these series are also very similar and the same goes for the style of the voice actors.
Story-wise, Golden Boy is very episodic. Each episode is about a completely different scenario while in GTO the story is ongoing from beginning to end. Of course this makes sense seeing as how Golden Boy is a 6 episode OVA while GTO is a 43 episode series.
Overall, it is impossible to watch both titles and not see the similarities as they apply to the characters, the art and animation, and the style of humor.
Consider both titles under the category of "must watch".
Golden Boy and Great Teacher Onizuka has a similar style and humour and the main guys is just so similar in every way and yeah they make the same facial expressions lol...
Both of the protagonists are very similar, and both have their own ways of solving problems that they have. Golden Boy is very cerebral and plays dumb under the mask of a pervert, while actually solving problems and 'studying'. Onizuka uses a certain amount of wit, but also relies on his past experience as a biker and gang leader to gain respect from his students, who rebel against him. Both have great comedy moments, but also touch on serious topics, although more so in GTO.
Both Golden Boy and Great Teacher Onizuka have the same kind of warm animation style and they both feature humorous male leads who frequently have all sorts of escapades involving women. If you liked Golden Boy's sort of humour, you will find more of it from GTO.
Additionally, if you liked Golden Boy but wish to see something with a more solid plot, this is a good candidate.
Both of the series involve a pervy protagonist who happens to get himself in loads of trouble but always gets away learning something or teaching something to someone else. Both protagonist make the most ridiculous faces that add to the charm of the series. If you like the brand of humor that Onizuka has, then golden boy is a great companion to the type of humor. Both are very inspiring and have a great spirit that make them a great watch. Sadly the series is a bit short but very worthy of a try.

It's not like the series are similar in plot, but the sense of humour is analogous. Since Golden Boy is only an OVA, you won't waste much time if you happen to don't like it at all. While Onizuka Eikichi is actually a dumb ass (which is fine with me), Kintaro Oe is rather an intriguing character and one doesn't exactly know which on he is - a smart genius or a dumb ass as well. If you liked GTO, you might try to watch Golden Boy.
GTO and Golden Boy both are similar in humor. Both have an honest, hardworking main character who will go to great lengths to make a difference in another person's life. Mostly women.

Golden Boy is some of the most baller S**t i have ever seen, but it is incredibly short. I feel as if GTO captured Golden Boys message, but is a lot deeper and longer.
Both are some of the funniest anime you will ever find. I just couldn't stop laughing. When your done you'll feel sad because its all over.

Great Teacher Onizuka and Golden Boy are a like since they both have the same type of perverted humor. Both mains are extreme trouble makers and perverts.
The situations that the main characters go through may differ, but the way they act throughout the episodes and they way they solve other people's problems are nearly identical.

So far, in the all the time spent dementing myself with Japanese cartoons and comics, Junk Boy is the ONLY title similar to Golden Boy I've come across.
The basic gist of Junk Boy is this: an average, horny guy finds himself in a line of work that allows him to interact with/seduce babes. With his ability to get a boner at any time/lift tables with his boner, no woman can resist his idiotic, surprisingly seductive ways for long - not even an idol he once masturbated over being safe from his clutches.
Just like Golden Boy, it's sure to piss off those with vaginas with the way females are shown to be easy to spread. But it's the sort of thing most guys can chill and enjoy; getting a fair few chuckles out of the dialogue/maybe blowing a load over the detailed nipples.
Also, using the logic of other MAL members, both anime have 'Boy' in their titles and, because of that, are comparable.
It has the same feel to it, You will understand when you see it, It will remind you of golden boy right off the bat ! It's so damn funny you will need to control yourself at times lol
Both series center around a young perverted guy surrounded by beautiful women.
The same main pervert character, similar comedy, lots of ecchi even the name is similar.
