Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi is the same as Hajime no Ippo but the difference that Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi is about Martial Arts and not about Boxing as in Hajime no Ippo.

Both about sports. Main character goes through necessary personality changes to further their goals, in said sports. More Humor, than Hajime no Ippo.
Each series follows a story where the main character is struggling to be the best. Ippo and Hikaru both go through rough times in their conquest to get better. With great character development and comedy thrown in at just the right spots, you don't want to miss this!

Great boxing anime.
While the skills of the main characters are on opposite ends (one being pro quality and the other a beginner), both series follow the road to the top. Both series give great history on the designated sport so if you're unfamiliar with it, things will be explained throughout each episodes. Comedy is also thrown in every once in a while. Don't like sports? Don't worry, you don't have to!

Both are sports anime classics.

Although the stories are completely different, the style of comedy and animation are quite similar.
Both are sports anime that involves having 2 characters trying to accomplish to reach their goal to be one of the best and hard-working sports player. Trying to pursue a career for both takes a lot of patience for both main characters in each anime, so definitely both animes are very magnifying to see each characters trying to attain their goal.
BOTH AWESOME!!
Both classic sports animes about the same sport, yet different storywise.

capeta and hajime no ippo is both about a beginner who fell in love with a sport. both the main characters start from the bottom and move their way up
Enjoy watching people play a sport and get better and better at it? Hajime no Ippo and Major (all seasons) both give you exactly this.

While Goro (Major) is more on the "genius" side, and Ippo is more on the "hard working" side, they both strive toward their goals with extreme passion. If you enjoyed one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

Both have sports themes, with a character that has an extra special talent. Both involve strategy and a character that struggles to win competition. I just watched one outs and now am enjoying ippo immensely.
Both main characters have a big way from "crying boy" to "Man!" .
Now I know what you might be thinking, boxing and biking and not much alike, but the story i have seen so far in Ride Back seems to indicate these two animes have alot in commen. Rin Ogata and Ippo both find a new thing to do with their lives, they are both a bit lost when they are not doing the thing they love in the ring and on the race course and they work hard at their new dreams. The best art is saved for the main themes of the story, like the Bikes In ride Back and the boxing in Hajime no Ippo.
Similar art style, both about sports, although one is boxing the other is street racing. Follows the story of shy underachiever, with a unexpected talent for their sport. Both have romantic side plots and sprinkles of comedy.
Both star main characters, who come from poorer families, who want to be the best boxer. Joe Akamine, and Ippo Makunouchi, not only have timid personalities they have to overcome near the beginning, but they even somewhat look the same.
Tense as hell, adrenaline-pumping, and manly tears-inducing.
People pitted against each other. Same studio.

Everything else is pretty much different - Kaiji is psychological and Ippo is raw power - but you should give the other a try if you're looking for something addicting.
Same feeling while watching it.
Both about sport/friendship/rivalry.
These two shows have similar character designs and are both about boxing. One Pound Gospel is more of a comedy, but still has some fighting spirit.
Both have those hard training scenes that lead to improvemnts in there chosen sport.
Both involve tough bad asses! Both are very funny at times and have a nice amount of drama. Both have a sub romance theme and both are great easy watches (smooth rolling with nice art, excellnt story line, and matching music to really allow u to feel the anime.

if u like one then yes u should definetly watch the other
Different subjects but similar competition and inner dialogue, both are great.
Major is one of the best shounen sports show around, following the tracks of the classic hajime no ippo with an even better background story and characters.
Their all about sports.. they both reaching their goals through hard training... :D
Both Sports Anime

The two series are about the same. In Hajime no Ippo, Ippo wants to become stronger (so be the strongest boxer) and in Baki the Grappler, Baki wants to become the strongest and be stronger than his father.
Hajime no Ippo is so much better, why? Because its much more realistic. I didn't liked Baki the Grappler much as I liked Hajime no Ippo but it's still enjoyable. Baki the Grappler II is better than Baki the Grappler but you should watch first Baki the Grappler.
Ippo > ALL

Main character small, black hair, with a very familiar hard worker mentality. It's all about the love of the game and growing stronger a step at a time. Unlike boxing it's a team sport but the tournaments are still there and everyone's aiming for the top. it has many of the same sports morals, training, wins and losses.

When the main character Kimitsuri(I can't spell it without looking it up.) gets the ball it's a very similar feeling. The crowd tends to roar everyone gets pumped up and he scores goals any way he possibly can using sheer stubbornness and persistence to pull out wins. If he doesn't manage it then he simply gets up and tries again, and again until he manages it.

This is Very similar in style to ippo, the main characters of both these animes are of a similar Arch-type. Boxing is Boxing, but Soccer is Soccer. If you liked Hajime because it was Hajime and not just because it was boxing the odds are good you will like Whistle! as well. I know I do.
Both about two people who are working to be the best at their particular sport.
Both anime follow the journey of somebody who keeps fighting on to make their dream a reality. These journeys both include plenty of training, victories, and a few defeats. But what really makes them similar is the style of comedy they use on the side.
Both anime have preety simmilar "From zero to hero" feel, and bullied, hard-working type main character.
Furthermore they were both made by Madhouse Studios, however Hajime no Ippo is way better animated, but yet Beck has better soundtrack.
Well, check by yourself and hope you like them.

One of the best OVA's ever (imo) is the one and only (atm) OVA of the Hajime no Ippo series, dealing with one of the best animated fights and drama (for sports anime). And of course, it's a part of the original storyline of the series.
