Synopsis

Nello Daas is a gifted artist residing in a village on the outskirts of Antwerp, Belgium. He earns a living by selling milk in a market in the middle of the city alongside his ailing grandfather. His best friend, Alois Cogez, is the daughter of his callous landlord, who believes that Nello is corrupting his daughter and unbefitting her class. Angered by Alois' closeness to a peasant, her father sends her away to a school in Antwerp to prevent them from meeting again.

While continuing his daily market runs, Nello stumbles upon an art contest surrounding the famous Peter Paul Rubens—a Flemish artist he holds in high regard. Not only does the contest offer a monetary prize, but it also comes with the opportunity to study art at a school in the same city Alois is studying. Now with a goal in mind, Nello begins to brainstorm the perfect piece, but a series of adversities threatens to end his dreams prematurely.

Yet, through thick and thin, is his loyal dog, Patrasche, whom he saved from the brink of death at the hands of a cruel owner. As Nello endures through various hardships, Patrasche supports him throughout them. Flanders no Inu is a reimagined film that captures the classic story between an innocent boy and his faithful canine best friend as they traverse together until the bitter end.

As a kid i grew up watching random cartoon series on tv shows like spongebob etc
I watched this anime some days before and i have to say that this movie was emotional and it had a very nice plot

First of all i want to say that i absolutely loved the characters & dubs .
The Story was actually sad if you understand what's happening during the movie, (i don't want to spoil) but you should give it a try .
Many people charactirize it as kid movie but i think it's for all the ages.

When the movie ended i had mixed feelings, i would propably rewatch ...

Spoiler Free

Good old days is coming back by watching this movie. I remember that my childhood hearttouching movies was like this. That's why it didn't surprised me, but it clearly make me cried for the first time since i watch anime.

Story :
Eventhough the above synopsis said that Flanders no Inu is about the friendship between a boy and a dog, actually it tells more than just that. Story about a poor young boy who lives with his grandfather in a countryside as a milk seller. You might have known what will happen next, but trust me keep watching it, you won't regret it.

Art :
I can't ...

Flanders no Inu: Catharsis in Two Hours

After this film, I have been forced to side with the argument that a story alone can make a(n) anime/movie great. And story is at the forefront of this movie's accomplishments. At least in this regard, Flanders no Inu is transcendant, subverting the genre and common tropes. I wasn't expecting the film to be as powerful as it was in it's presentation of love and loss. Also, character development was very true-to-form; as the narrative is extremely humanistic, granting the viewer some escape from the weary and lackluster stuff in the medium, often being force-fed ...
