SynopsisThe undying Sakura Trees return. Based on a PS2 sequel of the original DaCapo game, the story once again takes place on Hatsunejima, but is set 53 years after the events of D.C. and D.C.S.S.. Although some charas will probably look a bit familiar to the initiated eye, the cast is a new one. The two new main protagonists are the Asakura sisters Yume and Otome, who are the granddaughters of Junichi and Nemu from the first season.

If I were to choose just one word to describe this anime, it would be "pleasant." The episodes literally fly by, they're very easy to watch and easily enjoyable. As someone who's new to the Da Capo franchise, I still enjoyed it very much, so if you've never seen any of the previous installments, do not let this discourage you. The series can be enjoyed as a stand-alone experience, at least I did. This review will be spoiler-free.
The Story: 6
To be fair, the story is not the strongest point of the series, but it's certainly nothing to frown at. The plot progresses at a comfortable pace, and it is a heartwarming tale for the most part. Some events are a bit predictable, but it's never boring, and it doesn't drag on. If you're looking for an epic tale, look elsewhere, but for a harem, it's quite good.
Art: 8
The art and visual are very beautiful. The whole team of sakuras and the lively colors used throughout the series really do enhance the mood. The character designs are fantastic, which is what first drew me to the series. Aesthetically, it is a very pleasant experience. It is a harem, after all, and seeing beautiful women is always a plus.
Sound: 7
The opening theme is very good, I think they chose a very fitting song for the series. The background music mostly good as well, some of it memorable, and some it just blending into the background. I personally thought the ending could have been better, though.
Characters: 8
The characters often make or break a show, and Da Capo was no exception. I already mentioned the wonderful character designs, and this extends to their personality as well as their appearance. The male lead isn't perfect, but he is quite likable for a harem lead. Almost all of the female "contestants" are just lovable and cute, but each of them have their own special charm. Amakase was especially entertaining to watch, a great character.
Enjoyment: 7
It was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. It kept me entertained, and I grew attached to the characters. It is a high school harem, and it's pretty hard to stand out in this genre, but I think Da Capo did a good job of making a show that's both enjoyable and memorable. It wasn't out of this world, but it was good, and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a strong bias against harems.
Overall I gave the series 7: Good and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to enjoying the second season, and I hope you will too. Thanks for taking the time to read my review and happy watching. read more

If you watch the show for development between Koko and Sakurai you will of course be disappointed, they are NOT the main focus for the majority of the series.
Story: It starts out slow, but from episode 8 and on really picks up for the rest of the series. The first 7 episodes were pretty 'meh' and lacked much in the story department other than a typical romance comedy/drama, but the latter half of the series finally got a story going that was interesting enough to get it back up to a '7' or good rating.
Art: The art throughout the show was alright, but a LOT of scenes were done very poorly. What I mean is that there were a lot of frames that made it look like the characters were 2D - while yes, they are 2d drawings - i mean the artists didnt even give the illusion of 3D that is supposed to be there. The characters would sometimes look completely flat, though the backgrounds were overall pretty well done.
Sound: The seiyuu all did a really good job, and its got some big names like Chihara Minori involved so its no surprise. The same goes for the music, the OP and ED were done by Yozuca and Coorie, and there were a few insert songs as well that were pretty good, as well as the background music.
Characters: I thought Koko and Nanaka were pretty bland characters and didnt like them much at all, nor their roles in the show for the most part. On the other hand, the friends (both male and female) were fun and enjoyable while on-screen and not completely typical to series based on bishoujo games, though not all that original either. Minatsu and Sakurai were good characters though. Sakurai is pretty clueless usually but for the most part is fairly realistic of a character. Minatsu's banana thing is, just like the other characters, related to the original Da Capo in which there was a girl who LOVED bananas. In this case she hates them but has to eat them.
Minatsu takes center stage for a majority of the show in the latter half, and she probably gets the most character development as well. Overall she was a fun and interesting character to watch as she learns new things or goes through hardships.
Overall, it was pretty good. I liked watching it more than 'good' so i gave enjoyment that - but thats basically because im bias due to Minatsu's cuteness. The show isnt anything special, but its not bad either and it has a good flow and feeling to it. Its worth watching if you have the time or are slightly interested, but i woudlnt say its worth going out of your way to watch either.
A side note, I think the main reason that this show is rated so low is due to it being watching in the wrong way (for the Koko/Sakurai relationship). Also, the information given about the show's main characters (on the actual anime page) is not exactly correct. Minatsu is NOT a supporting role, if anything you could say the majority of the show is about her - thus putting her as one of the MOST main characters in the series. read more

There is always romance and jelousy between characters. Even that, the main characters of the series always end up together or brake up and then cry for each other. Even if people know that you should forever be with your beloved one, they just back away from him and tells him to be happy with someone else. But that's wrong. They should be always together. They love each other, right? Then they don't have to do things like that. Because the two of them won't be happy with someone else...
