The two stories are a lot similar. Mostly it's because Sara's life is also full of tragedies.

These animes have a great and similar story with a very kindhearted girl (and her doll) which experiences poverty early and is given in the care of strangers. From then on, the hardships start which she has to overcome. Both are World's Masterpiece Series and show the drama in a fantastic way.

Two older classics starring heroines who are naive but idealistic and surprisingly courageous. They enroll at prestigious private schools where they encounter many of life's mundane cruelties, make loyal friends and obsessive enemies, and become an inspiration to those around them. Both shows are heavy on drama and melodrama. Oniisama e is more of an intense ride with a flair for the dramatic and a tendency to have shocking plot twists; Princess Sara is more laid back as it steadily progresses its story.

The story of Emma revolves around a kind hearted young lady whose in love with a rich young man. The similarity between Shoukoujo Sara and Emma is that the anime is both set in Victorian time or somethin like that =_=. Their are both drama and the main character had the same attitude;both nice and down to earth and lastly they both lost their parents...

There's a lot of similarities between those two, in both anime protagonists are very kind, clever, spiritually strong, tenacious young girls with good upbringing but at one moment appearing to have a lot of hardship to struggle with on their life path. In the second half of both anime both girls are living very near to the persons who eventually will help them to resolve all of their trouble but couldn't take what is theirs for the time being, because of the different reasons though. Also there are some minor but pretty interesting similarities, for example Perrine while living in France knows English language very  read more

Both feature little girls as their main characters. Both of these girls go through major tragedies, and still manage to endure and move on with their lives.
