Slam Dunk Movie 4

Of all the Slam Dunk movies, this has got to be my favorite.

I didn't start out as a Slam Dunk fan. It was after I happened to chance upon this movie that I got hooked onto the whole thing, prompting me to start the series from scratch, buy the other movies, read the manga and try to watch every re-airing of the series on local television.

I'm more of a 'character' watcher, meaning I base my love for a series on the way its characters carry the story and this is the aspect that pulled me into loving this movie. For one, it stuck to canon and despite the rather cliche and dramatic plot, it handled itself quite well. With this movie, I got to appreciate Rukawa more (and eventually have him as my favorite character until now), as well as Sakuragi's... Sakuragi-ness.

This movie shows how passionate one can really get in living in general, and how we stand on the shoulders of others to get a better view of life. read more
