Synopsis

The film will be a continuation spinoff of the 2012 "Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine" television anime series.

Lupin and Jigen have their sights set on a treasure worth stealing called the Little Comet which is located in the country of East Doroa. The country has fortified its border after a singer named Queen Malta got assassinated in the neighboring country of West Doroa upon visit.

Despite the two countries being enemies, Lupin and Jigen still plan to steal the treasure. During the heist, Jigen almost got killed by a skilled sniper named Yael Okuzaki. His specialty is preparing tombstones for his targets before executing his kills. Its said that no one has survived after Yael makes a grave for that target.

'Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen Daisuke no Bohyou', or 'Jigen Daisuke's Tombstone' - a spinoff of one of my personal favourite anime 'Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Mine Fujiko'. While I certainly didn't see it meeting the same level of quality as the the original, this spin off was certainly still an enjoyable watch. But let me break it down:

~STORY~
The story of Jigen Daisuke's Tombstone is definitely weaker than its original counterpart, even compared to individual episodes - which is certainly a shame. Rather than a focus on Lupin III, as you may have guessed the story is focused more on his hat-tilting, gun-toting friend ...

Mixed Feelings
So this film has the same mature and adult tone as the fujiko mine series which I thought overall was good. I really enjoy the Lupin the 3rd series but this was pretty disappointing overall. Right from the beginning we already know that Jigen is not going to actually die which kills some of the mystery or any kind of “suspense” the viewer is supposed to be in. Also what was the point of having Fujiko Mine in this? 90% of her inclusion in this film is just her locked in a glass enclosure naked getting attacked by a robot. Her presence in this was ...

The premise is so bad and they know it, so much so that they don't even pretend to create a back story or force something from the past. It's just a random backdrop they created to define Jigen as the best gunslinger in the world, amazing that the best way they found to do that was to get a dubious guy to duel him. The big thing about this movie is that if they just wanted to show Jigen's amazing skills to the audience, why didn't they show his backstory???? We are tired of seeing Jigen being amazing in the anime, so much so that ...
