Classic, sweet, old-school anime of the slice of life genre. Very similar animation, character design, and style. Both have an European setting, and in both the protagonist is a little girl, orphaned, but very talkative and cheerful, who lives with and older person (either a relative or just a tutor) and who loves nature. These series have overall the same characteristics and feeling. Also: in both the director is Isao Takahata; the storyboard of both was made by Yoshiyuki Tomino; Hayao Miyazaki worked in both anime.

Both orphans, both pretty old series. Both extremely amazing. If you like the sort of story Heidi has to bring then you will love Candy as much.

Both series are from the same animation-studio, the same animation-style. Both have a "grandpa"^^

Both series part of World Masterpiece Theatre following the life of a young girl

Both are about little girls getting involved with various quirky characters in an european-style setting. Both girls are also idealistic females, and finally Hayao Miyazaki took participation in both productions. However AnSH lack of KDS's magical elements.

Stories following the lives of young girls as they learn much about the world around them and human relationships. Their is also emphasis placed on the beauty of nature and the creatures that inhabit it. Also, both are based from novels, feature a young girl and boy, and are animated by ghibli. Truly wonderful stories that portray the hardships of growing up and the many life lessons learned.

Fun Iyashikei with very cheerful and charismatic characters. In addition to Moomin taking place much more in spring, autumn and summer, there are also episodes in winter, which reminded me of Heidi. Of course, both are part of my favorite anime.

The good old true and purest Slice of Life. Similar in aesthetics and character design, being from the same studio and the same decade. Heidi and Laura are two extremely cheerful and charismatic characters that it's hard not to like them both. Both animes are enjoyable, and as I said before: the purest Slife of Life. Both are the pioneers of Iyashikei.

Firstly, I wanted to make a more complete recommendation, but that would be a spoiler for Erin. Heidi and Erin (to some extent) are literally very similar, and I don't doubt that the author of Erin was inspired by Heidi for this, as it is a classic. Let's go: Everyday life is often relaxing with the child protagonists, in a certain part of the story both protagonists go to school, they take care of animals... I wanted to say more, which would complement a lot in how similar they both are, but that would be a spoiler from Erin.

Both revolve around a cute little girl who lives in the countryside and around the mountains away from the bustling cities. They have a girl who is always happy, and they both show the daily life of some friends who are exploring the countryside and each day they take on a new adventure. If you enjoy watching Slice of Life and beautiful scenery, I highly recommend it

As in Ie Naki Ko Heidi is also an orphan child looking for a family that accepts her having the same hardships of living sometimes on her own and having to endure the life with strange people that don't understands her. And is also based on a very good novel like many of anime made in those ages.

Both are set in the magnificent Swiss Alps and both are stories of beautiful friendships and superation. There are also several situations that appears in both series, like sled races, going to live in a unknown house and city, handicapped children, and of course, daily life in the Alps.

- Taking place in an alpine environment - Created in the 70ties - Containing real life images (Nobara no Julie) or drawn images based on reality (Heidi) - Protagonist is an orphaned girl, who gets to live at a relative I find Heidi to be superior in every aspect, but you may still enjoy Nobara no Julie if you like coming of age stories in rural settings.

The pair of girls is very similar: Heidi and Mizuki are both the little ones, with short hair and cheerful personality; Klara and Shizuru are both quiet and thoughtful. Heidi and Mokke have both a grandfather as very important character; and the main background is the nature (mountains for Heidi and country for Mokke). Folkloristic entities of Mokke can be partially regarded as the animals of Heidi. Some of the developments of the plots are similar, too.
