Pretty much both anime revolve around the rise of a young superstar and their path to their respective sports' ultimate championship game.
Major S1, 2, 3 ,4 and PoT are all sports related anime. Like PoT's Echizen Ryoma, Major has an arrogant but likable male lead Honda Goro. Hence you don't have to suffer through those sports anime with depressing and low self esteem lead characters. Furthermore, the matches in both anime are interesting and shows character development. Both of these are on the top of my sports anime list.
While the skills of the main characters are on opposite ends (one being pro quality and the other a beginner), both series follow the road to the top. Both series give great history on the designated sport so if you're unfamiliar with it, things will be explained throughout each episodes. Comedy is also thrown in every once in a while. Don't like sports? Don't worry, you don't have to!

they're both sports anime, and really humorous
If you like Sport anime, I highly recommend watching Whistle!
Both are great sports anime, though both of these sports are not very similar they both have awesome plots and great characters.
Also about sports, with a prodigy as the main character who gradually evolves as the anime continues. Both great sport animes!
Oofuri is a sports Anime... It's about Baseball.. While Prince ot Tennis, like the name tells us all, is about Tennis.

And as real Prince of Tennis fan I can say that the sense of humor (and especially the gay moments..) in both series are very similiar, sometimes even the same.

Ookiku Furikabutte offers lots and lots of awesome characters who develope their personalities over the series and who you learn to love and hate, and so does the Prince of Tennis.

In any case, it's both worth watching it!

the movie is a sidestory to the show
prince of tennis and major are very interesting animes since its center plot is about sports, and not just any sport, but the best sports in the world(tennis and baseball). if you want an inspiring anime with a lot of cute guys then you must try this. it will never let you down, every episode is very good, i must say its a masterpiece.
The character stereotypes are the same, and even the designs are similar. Otherwise, they are shows with a great amount of good looking guys engaging in school activities.
Both anime is based on teams trying to get into the nationals by defeating other schools.
And they both got in the nationals
They both have the same story about tennis, a freshmen joining tennis club and reach their goal to the top.
Both have sports teams that work together led by a small child prodigy.
both of these animes have sports in them but princess nine is like the more feminine style. they both have two extraordinary players who are comitted to their playing. one plays tennis while the other baseball.princess nine has a little bit more romance in it. you would have to like sports, school life, action and a little bit of romance to enjoy both these animes.
dear boys similar to prince of tennis, b/c they are both based on sports, and they have the same competitive work hard spirit. in dear boys the sport is basketball, but like in prince of tennis it has the character building in the premise of the story. if you like prince of tennis you will like dear boys.
They're both sporty anime, about the main character getting stronger physically and mentally as the story progresses. Of course, the main characters happen to become friends with amazing people who help them in their process of getting better in their sport. Both have good humor.
Ryoma (PoT) and Takumi (Initial D) are pretty much the same person. One plays tennis and one is a street racer, but they're both aloof prodigies that pull out new miracle techniques whenever they need to, who were privately groomed by their "retired" fathers. ;) So even though the sport, setting and animation styles differ dramatically, if you liked the basis of the story or the main character in one, you'd probably like th other.
Well, the aura of competition and the amazing abilities of the main character seem to be the same. The progression in revealing the character and skills of the main character seems to be the same, as well. The main differences are that One Outs is much more adult in content and tone, and we're dealing with more of a team sport since it's about baseball rather than tennis. The characters in One Outs are much more adult-looking as well, but I believe some people (OK, I mean women especially) can definitely find something to feast their eyes on! In addition there's quite a bit about gambling, both in the strict sense, and as a personality trait.
Although quite different in nature, active sports against strategic table game, but the anime is very similar in intensity, and its ability to capture one's interest.
It starts out differently, a boy beginning from scratch in playing Go, with direction and support of divine nature. But as the story goes on, the character is discovering his own talents trying both to beat his main opponent, his teacher, and discover his own strengths.
Very similar to the Prince of Tennis in a way the games are set up. Matches remind us of duels and the opponents striving for their win, coming up with their techniques, new moves and ways to surprise and beat each other.
It's a great anime, not quite as long, but not a second of it I found wasted when I was watching.
