Black Gate: Kanin no Gakuen

Our main protagonist Narifumi has gotten himself into quite the pinch!

If being seduced by his girlfriend’s sister Shizuku wasn’t bad enough, now she’s gone to another world in an effort to obtain an evil power to rule the earth! Using an ancient gate only she and her sister Kasumi can open, she’s going to give her body over to the demons on the other side in an effort to further her ambitions. Kasumi is not about to just let her acquire the power though, and she’s going to have to rally her friends and fellow protectors of the gate to help her stop her sister’s ... evil desires. Dragging Narifumi along for the ride, they’ll have to fight against demons and unearthly creatures in an effort to stop Shizuku thus begin a crazy rollercoaster …

Not all the girls are willing to participate in this adventure and jealousy towards Narifumi & Kasumi’s relationship may work against them in their struggles to save the world. They can only hope some people gain a little perspective before the battle is done.

It’s not the inherent quality of the story that’s the problem here, it just doesn’t go anywhere. So falls another title expectantly ending with a “to be continued” that will never be. As is often a problem with titles that are cut short, there isn’t sufficient time to flesh out the characters, their motives or the story elements. They do a valiant job with on setting up the background information behind the gate and the events that transpired around it, especially for a hentai title. This, however, just ends up as a waste of time since the series never goes anywhere with it. I would say they would have been better off just filling the whole thing with sex scenes, but unfortunately that’s the real weak link here.

Again the problem with this h-anime is that it just ends up with too many things working against it to be a truly enjoyable foray. The plot wasn’t bad; it just ends far short of where it was originally intended, whereas the sex scenes are not good enough for it to rest its laurels on in spite of that fact. There’s more promise with where the OVA could have gone, rather than where it ended up.

In conclusion Black Gate is another in a continuing line of Bible Black clones that could never measure up to their original.

If you do not value your precious time watch this. I assure you, you will be disappointed…

Our hero, Narifumi Hosokawa, is preparing for his high school's culture festival with the Kadomori twins. While everyone is distracted, Shizuku decides to open a mysterious gate through the use of magic and travel to an alternate world. She has broken the oath of her family's heritage, as to protect the Black Gate from those who seek the enormous power that lies within the world. The remaining defenders of the Black Gate, consisting of female students and a female teacher, must travel through to the other side and return before any distruptions come to either dimension. However, Narifumi accompanies the group and Shizuku is waiting ... for them with some new allies.

When it came to the sex, Black Game gave me the worst feeling you can get from a hentai. Boredom. I shouldn't be bored during a scene of two people fucking. And that's when the sex is even happening to begin with. I don't even know how you do that. There isn't enough time with any of the girls to at least give them stereotypical traits for me to jerk off to to begin with.

It also doesn't help that all of the good animation and anything even remotely interesting happens in the OP, which only lasts 30 seconds, and contains no sexual content. So you have to deal with a bunch of mediocre animation to go with your bad sex scenes knowing full well what good animation could look like for this OVA.

Also, the previously mentioned mysterious gate is blatantly the Stargate from the Stargate series. It's not even a homage, it's just a blatant rip-off. They probably put it in knowing that they could get away with it, because 1) Who the fuck is going to admit that they watched something like this to try and get money from a blatant Copyright Infringement, and 2) The people jerking off to this aren't going to care either way.

The dub is forgettable ans awkward and all around awful, and it has even worse dialogue. "You're wet." and "I'm going to move it now.", the same insufferably annoying filler dialogue. There's even forced foreshadowing during a sex scene – "I don't need your protection, I'm a big girl now." What a weird thing to say during sex.

And every other line out of out main protagonist is "Huh? What? What is going on?", like a complete doofus.

With generic spank material that's been done better in the years both before since, and the fact that the rest if it is just unappealing, Black Gate just isn't worth it.
