Synopsis

Long ago, a race of beings known as the Golden Tribe, sent out a telepathic message into the depths of space, to the other races, who were still young. "Come, from the planets you were born on, here into space and join us." Three races answered. The Golden Tribe called them the Silver Tribe (a race that would directly study under the precursors), the Bronze Tribe (a race of sentient insects) and the Heroic Tribe (a race of giants). The Heroic Tribe quickly annihilated themselves save for five individuals, who were subdued by the Golden Tribe and enslaved to the other Tribes.

In time, when the Golden Tribe chose to undertake a journey to another galaxy, there was a last race which answered their call. The fourth race, which took to the stars using their own power, was Humanity. They were named the Iron Tribe.

In the present day, Humanity has been decimated and driven from Earth by the Silver Tribe and their Bronze Tribe slaves. Battle weary and on the run, they receive a new source of hope from their discovery of a surviving Heroic Tribe member, a Nodos, which has taken the form of a young boy called Age. This does not sit well with the Silver Tribe, who redouble their efforts to destroy the upstart Tribe of Iron. They too possess Nodos, four to the Iron Tribe's one.

The story proceeds along parallel lines from this point, following Humanity's search for a new home and for peace, Age's crusade to protect his Human friends and the struggles of the Silver Tribe Nodos as they attempt to understand Age's resistance and their own place in the Golden Tribe's grand designs. Story:
I think the story is told very well. The pace is even and while it doesn't speed along it doesn't go so slow as to be annoying or particularly noticeable. And the pace does improve as the anime goes on.
The story I think is a very enjoyable one. It is very original, having several unique qualities.
It fallows the 'classic' way of doing things. Introduces characters, establishes personalities and let's you get to know the characters, then puts the story into full force.
an 8 on story from me.

Art:
For me, the art was very strange at first. Having an unfamiliar look, at least out of the things read more

Heroic Age is a Space, Sci-fi, Action, Adventure with a story basically about mankind's struggle to exist in the galaxy and to carry out instructions laid out by the Golden Tribe. The basic premise of the story itself is great but not original, but at least it's made easy to understand with the superb intros in the first couple of episode. There happen to be some similarities in this anime's plot and Star Wars IV and some other sci-fi anime; Vandread and Gundam Seed. So this is an anime Star Wars fans can enjoy however don't expect to see any lightsaber duels.

Recommendations

It's similar with saving Earth along with mechas..
Although set in different times, both are action packed and have very similar "monster" design (sorry don't know how to put it any other way)

Opening Theme

Ending Theme

#1: "Azurite" by Tae Urakabe
#2: "Azurite ~ for luster star Deianera" by Yui Ishikawa (ep 15)
