Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku monogatari has many things in common. Both animes are taken place in ancient Asian cultures. It takes place in an era of war where the emperors rage wars to keep their empires in toll. Both animes revolves around a romantic triangle. Character personas and design are also very similar.

If you are a fan of either anime, i'd strongly recommend and encourage you to watch the other as well!
