Something evil is stirring in the shadows of Tokyo...

During the spring of his senior year in high school, quiet Tatsuma Hiyuu transfers to Magami Academy in Shinjuku. The mysterious boy's "outsider" status and his profound skills in martial arts quickly earn him the friendship of class delinquent Kyouichi Houraiji. Through an uncanny connection and a happenstance challenge, he also meets Yuuya Daigo of the wrestling club, the captain of the girls' archery club, Komaki Sakurai, and Aoi Misato, the Student Council President.

During their encounter, there is a sudden, harsh disruption of the Ryumyaku (literally Dragon Pulse, otherwise known as Dragon Vein or Dragon Stream), the flow of arcane energy. The surge awakens within the five teenagers a latent power, giving them each a supernatural ability. Enlightened to their newly acquired gifts by Hisui, the young heir of the Kisaragi Clan who maintains his family's antiques shop - as well as their duty to protect Tokyo from Oni (demons) - the Magami students decide to use their power to protect the city from the onslaught of dark forces.

Battling the demons alongside Hisui Kisaragi, the five unlikely friends discover that they may have to face a greater threat to Tokyo other than destroying a few malevolent, random monsters. The Ryumyaku had been disrupted by force, from someone invoking the Dark Arts - and that person has a wicked desire to unleash a long-dead evil.

Can the teenagers overcome their own fears and flaws to fight against the Dark Arts? And soon they will also have to face their own destinies as they discover their Stars of Fate.

This anime is based on a manga, which was based on the Nintendo role-playing video game originally released in 1998.

This anime has all the classic elements from shounen, action, anime and uses them to produce this eerie, confusing yet superb show. ^_^

The story follows five students: Tatsuma, Kyouichi, Aoi, Sakurai and Daigo who never really have talked to each other, in their fight to protect the city. The 1st episode was extremely intense and exciting to watch, on the other hand it will leave you completely bewildered and wondering what was going on. Yet for the first couple episodes of Tokyo Majin not much was explained about the current plot and it felt unnecessarily confusing. It's only until episode 7 "Multitude of Demonic Arts" read more

hm.. alright so.. i'm not exactly sure why this anime hasn't scored a higher average.. it's one of the most fantastic things i've seen in awhile.. i was even tempted to rate it a 10 just because i enjoyed it so much..

the story might sound a little familiar.. dragon veins, daoist monks, martial arts, spiritually-endowed high school students faced with an apocalyptic event.. but so what if the elements aren't anything new.. it works, plain and simple.. and compared with other end-of-the-world anime, this one wins hand-down as far as style goes.. the story is pretty easy to follow, though the spiritual stuff gets a read more

The one thing that made me watch this Anime was it's genre; I just needed to see for myself whether this was really such a badass action Anime.

It starts out weird, with monsters and them beating it up. The Animations seems to be ok. That was until I saw something that changed my whole perspective of this Anime. But more about that later, I'll discuss the story and characters first.

The story revolves about a group of youngsters. Each one of them having their respected influence, as they all have different strengths, weaknesses, powers and personalities.

It seems to be a pretty cool cast. You have the read more

*Note: if you don't want to read the detailed review, skip to the end to see the pointers and a 1-sentence conclusion.

I am not a fan of horror. The horror anime that I've seen I can count on one hand. The reason for my reluctance is because I like to watch anime for things other than disturb-value, and since I like to complete a series within a couple of days, the grotesqueness of the genre can wear on me after a few hours. But I decided to try "Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: Tou" because I like good romance coupled with good action, and "Tokyo Majin" read more

Anime: Persona 4 The Animation
Both Anime contain a group of kids with special powers trying to prevent the world from going to pot. Lots of angst, one is darker then the other.

Anime: Samurai Champloo
Both have astounishing, stylish, well choregraphied fights. And to support that fact, Samurai Champloo's animation director Jun Nakai has worked on Tokyo Majin as chief animation director.

Anime: Persona: Trinity Soul
In both animes there is a group of school students with special powers who have to fight monsters to protect the world from destruction. Both animes also has similar atmosphere - rather dark and sad. They both also have similar tempo - they are not dynamic, with unexpected leaps of timeline but once you get into them, they are quite gripping.

Anime: Red Garden
TMGK and Red Garden are both series about a happy go lucky group of high schoolers who find themselves in an unusual situation and become unlikely friends (teammates?). They both have creepy settings and both episodic and series long stories. Although I wasn't a fan of Red Garden, I think others who enjoyed TMGK may enjoy the dead girls of Red Garden as well!

Anime: Highschool of the Dead
High school kids fighting the undead and demons. If you want blood and gore, these animes will fill your appetite. There is also some similiarities between characters based upon personalities and the formation of the groups in each anime. Though High school of the dead has quite a bit of ecchi and fan service where non is found in Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho.

Anime: Ikkitousen
They both suround high school students with powers and a story about fudel japan coming back to destroy japan now.
