In some interpretations, Guren can be seen as a "spiritual prequel" to Gurren Lagann set in an alternative timeline focusing on the "Guren", not the "Lagan".
What if... humanity was never forced to live underground?
What if... instead of giant robots, demons invaded instead?
What if... instead of having Simon and Kamina, our main character is Rekka, a monster fighting, ninja-like guy with a harem?
