Sonic X, the 2nd anime adaption of Sega's mascot: Sonic the Hedgehog. Although, the 4kids dub was full of fail, the Japanese version was very enjoyable.
Story: The story involves many of the characters from the games, except this time adding more involvement with humans. Although the first arc was made of fillers (collecting chaos emeralds), the story gets better once you reach around 25. Episode 27 will start the game adaptions, and then the main series plot ends at 52. Ep 53-78 is the Meterex Wars arc, which were never aired on Japanese TV due to TV Tokyo's drop of Sonic X. The japanese version of it were first available through the Chinese DVD's, and are currently downloadable by cellphone though. Each of the finale's of the arcs are the most worth watching. In between them are pretty average, though pacing is never a big problem.
Animation: The animation is average for shounen. Some scenes aren't drawn very well, and the proportions were off. Also, I'm not fond the the art style used on humans. It is still watchable though.
Sound: I found the OST one of the best parts of the series. The majority of the BGM fits very well with the scenes, especially during the finale's of the arcs. The insert songs were also very well used, giving great emotion to various events during the story. Also Sonic engrish ftw.
Character: About all of the main characters of the original game series make a appearance. The existance of Chris make it more unique to the game though, as there is more character development. The few darker elements to certain episodes during the Meterex arc also give to the characters something that isn't seen too often in other Sonic works.
Enjoyment: I found the entire series enjoyable, as a long time fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Scenes with the humans may be a bit cheesy at times, but the fact that the story moves makes it superior to the other animated works.
Overall: The visual quality may be poor, but it's a good treat for those into the Sonic series. The soundtrack and the character relationships are the series strongpoints, and most of those are removed on the 4kids edition. Sonic X was one of the first anime I've completed, and shall always be memorable to me.

WATCH SONIC X or PLAY SONIC ADVENTURE 1&2 AND SONIC BATTLE BEFORE READING
4KIDS screwed the U.S dub up horribly,i reccomend the uncut verson if you want the full diolouge and story.season 1 was a litle rough around the edges, but it was just starting,i likednhow the characters sticked to their personalitys in the games.but ii have one problem with this anime...its name...chris thorndike!the devil chiled,i really did not like this character.he was verry verry annoying.i liked season 2 the best,it had game based arks, like sonic advnture, and sonic adventure2,also a sonic battle ark.and thare were no filler episodes between SA1&SA2 arks, and at the end of the SA2 ark, when sonic and shadow fought finnal hazzard, and live and learn played...i loved it!!!season 3 was ok,chris was useful for once(holy crap)and was less annoying, and tails finnaly got some love! read more

Story: (Dub) 5/10 (Sub) 8/10
Sonic the Hedgehog attacks Eggma’s base, trying to save his friend Cream the Rabbit, but Dr. Eggman uses the opportunity to activate the seven Chaos Emeralds. Something goes wrong and Chaos Control is activated, sending Sonic to a whole new world, earth. Dr. Eggman, Knuckles Tails and Amy, Cream and Cheese, and various others are transported to earth as well. Now another world is threatened by the arrival of Dr. Eggman, and Sonic devotes himself to help put a stop to it.
The story is very weak at the beginning; there were various filler arks. Season two was not much better, but I really liked the portrayals of the Sonic Game Series', (Sonic Adventure Ark, Sonic Adventure Two Ark, Sonic Battle Ark.) they put an interesting spin on it.
The third season had the best story, they were actually put to challenges, and they did not win every time like they did before, Sonic was faced up with harder choices, and harder situations. I also loved the story between Tails and Cosmo, and Shadow’s dilemma over his memory. The ending episodes were treated badly in the Dub with tiny details cut out that ruined the overall feel of its conclusion, but in the Sub the ending episodes were just great, a lot less kiddy then when it first began.
Animation: 6/10
There were scenes, particularly in the season conclusions, where the animation was very nice. But sadly, it seemed like their budget was not very big, and some of the animators were lazy. It gets increasingly better the third season; probably they had a bigger budget then.
Music: (Dub) 5/10 (Sub) 8/10
4Kids replaced a lot of the music in the Dub, which is a shame. The Sub used a lot of Game music, even, “Live and Learn,” was featured in the Super Sonic and Super Shadow story ark. I don’t understand why they replaced all the tracks; I really thought the Japanese artists did a pretty good job on their soundtrack.
Voice Acting: (Dub) 4/10
I’m going to have to be honest; the Dub was not very good. 4Kids gave Sonic X a really lame script, and a lot of the actors were inexperienced doing this, sadly it showed. Dan Green did pretty well, and Lisa Ortez also, they just didn’t have many opportunities in this series.
Voice Acting: (Sub) 7/10
I can’t accurately judge the Japanese voice actors as I don’t speak the language. But it was clear the Japanese sub was way better. A lot of the Japanese actors have been experienced in other Animes, and even though some characters I couldn’t stand in the dub, they were more likable with a good voice, Tails’ voice actress impressed me a lot with her performance in the ending episodes. I also love the fact Sonic speaks fractured English in the Sub.
Characters: 5/10
I can’t stand Chris Thorndyke and the human characters. In fact, every character that was not from Sonic’s home planet, Season 1 and Season 2’s humans; sucked. Not mild terrible, pull your hair out terrible. But I’ve always liked the Sonic characters, (Sonic Tails Amy ect.) and they were good in this series. In the third season they were treated the best, as other characters were focused on, Tails and Shadow especially. In the third season as well, some of the human characters were fair, Molly was a good addition to Shadow’s story as an obvious reminder of Maria, and Dark Oak and his minions were fun villains to watch. Cosmo was the best of the added characters; she actually contributed to the plot a great deal in the third season, and was very different from the other Sonic characters.
Over-All: (Dub) 5/10 (Average) (Sub) 7/10 (Good)
Its Dub is not good. 4Kids has a bad reputation for treating its viewers as if they are childish, even for 10 year olds. But its Sub is worth a watch, especially the last season, I’d advise just jumping into the third season as there’s not much you will miss that they won’t fill you in later about.
