Same mangaka, so the similarities are endless - humourous happenings between a bunch of quirky characters in a work-based setting. If you liked one, you will like the other!

Both portray love and friendship and have lovely characters . Office work environment. Both anime are romantic comedies. Both have a similar overall feel, are light-hearted, funny and cute.

- Both are seinen comedies. - Both are about a working staff: one at a city welfare department, other at a manga store. - Both have a side-focus on romance which develops nicely. - Both are quite refreshing. If you liked Servant x Service, chances are you that you will like Denki-gai no Honya-san as well.

Similarities: Both involves people in everyday situations in their work place. Both have the same comedy and slice of life genre. Dissimilarities: The characters in one anime are in their twenties, while the characters in the other anime are a combinations of mix ages. One is set in a gov't office, while the other anime was set in a family restaurant.

Don't let the titles fool you. Servant x Service and Hataraki Man can be misleading at first but comes handy dandy with its elements of surprise especially in the working field. In both series, there's an office woman who works and puts a lot of her effort at what she does whether its' benefiting the company or the public as a whole. At the same time, they sometimes slack off during breaks and occasionally gets into situations involving the typical 'office romances'. The working environment portrayed in these two series are somewhat realistic but contains a lighthearted tone fused with comedy. There's many cases in which  read more

Ditzy girl and clueless girl plus player guy and a light-hearted story following them and their friends.

Both are seinen with comedy and romance. Both criticize society. Each character has its unique characteristic and both have adult characters.
report Recommended by Usotsukki
Romantic comedy involving young adults working in the office. Main girl is a tsundere and main guy is constantly teasing her.

What a lot of comedy anime lack is a sense of genuine progression in the relationships and dynamics between the characters. Not only do both Servant x Service and Hataraku Maou-sama both show genuine development, but they also incorporate conventions of romance (as well as action in Maou-sama's case) without ever really coming across as angsty and melodramatic, and without dropping their humour.

Comedies with bureaucratic themes and build around office work. Just that one of those offices is more fantasy-based.

The main female character hits main male character often. The main male characters in both anime are extremely alike. Also, the main female characters are both workaholics.

Its not exactly the same, but there are quite a few similarities. The dim witted main character and the humor are similar. Although, SxS contains less plot and is just like comedic mild office romance. The best part about the jokes are not when they happen, its the characters reactions.

Both portray a working environment with hint of comedy. Although unlike working it has only one season

I think Hasabe acts exactly like Manabe-kun while Lucy is very similar to Kotoura.

It's another cute story that contains a lot of funny, crazy and romantic moments. The story mostly focuses on relationship between lovey-dovey guy and hard-working prude girl.
report Recommended by Hong-Sul
Both are about working at a job, and about service to others while the characters build their relationships with their colleagues. Hanasaku Iroha is about teenage girls and how they deal professionally to make an inn work, Servant x Service is about college graduates who just became civil servants.
report Recommended by Kundalini
Both series are from an older perspective of daily life, with a splash of romance thrown in. Definitely a relatable and easy watch.

These anime are both similar in feel and in theme/style. Simple trashy enjoyable anime with good characters and a bingey kind of story. Both are those kinds of shows that you watch to watch, good and enjoyable but nothing special.

- Both are romantic comedies - Both have "adult" characters, unlike most of the highschool animes
report Recommended by abystoma2
Both anime deals with their chosen profession and how they interact with their co-workers and to the different people in their workplace.
report Recommended by Hitsuzen09
Both these animes are about young people working for their city's government. Most the characters are earnest though there is slice of life comedy. Nice to have some shows about regular people in there mid-late twenties.

Adult workplace comedy. Servant x Service is definitely more on the comedy side than work, but I think both have a similar feel to them.

Both are light-hearted slice-of-life shows with a similar teasing dynamic between the main characters

Both are comedic anime series placed in the workplace, and both shows contain romance.
report Recommended by flutterdash
Both anime feature fun in the workplace, with eccentric cast members, each with their own unique quirks.

Working life and culture of civil servants, complete with zangyou, black kigyou, etc.

Did you enjoy watching a waifu working in a regular job? If the answer was "yes" then you will probably enjoy this anime as well. Honda-san and Lucy are some of the best waifus this industry can supply and will probably hook you to the show.

-Both anime tell about everyday life in working world (New Game in game company and SxS in government office). -Both anime story take place in office. -Both anime have many jokes and comedies about problem in work and problem with their co-workers.

Both of them have a similar humour: an interesting bunch of characters are put in very awkward and hilarious situations. I would say Danshi Kakousei no Nichijou is more about mini comedic snippets whereas Servant x Service has a more detailed plot behind it (even though it doesn't seem like it at the beginning). Both are really funny!
report Recommended by tish92
Similar humor that is heavily based on the characters' personalities. Both take it easy and have little real story: they are more about the journey than any particular destination.
report Recommended by colonelpanic
Similar gags and humor. Seitokai Yakuindomo has more ecchi, though.
report Recommended by Cureyurika
Similar comedy. Hasabe looks like Italy. Their senpai Ichimiya looks like Spain. One series is full length episode while the other is only five minutes long

Comedy shows with similar humour, with the strengths of the show being its diverse, hilarious and idiotic cast. While the plot have their differences, where one is set in an office work place, while another is of high schoolers who work on a manga together, they are both motivated by mild hints of romance (that focuses more on humour than drama). Both are adapted from 4-koma comedy manga, and focuses on the daily lives of the characters as they encounter hilarious day-to-day problems. If you love the humour of one show, then you will definitely love the other and both will leave you laughing non-stop!  read more

Servant x Service and Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita (Yuushibu for short) both try to capitalize on comedy at the workplace. While Servant x Service focuses on the government office and the irritating everyday occurrences from being civil servants and repetition of it all, Yuushibu takes the hum-drum repetitive daily life of a retail clerk and throws in comical scenarios from the foreignness of it all to a demon adapting to regular life.
report Recommended by yngtadpole
Both are about adults working at a job. While Natsuyuki Rendezvous is more serious and deals with a personally owned flower shop, Servant x Service is more light hearted and is about college graduates who just became civil servants.
report Recommended by Kundalini
They are not really similar but they are both comedies and the lead characters both have cowlicks that move on their own. Its so cute. That is really the only similarity and I enjoy both of them.

If working an new environment is a factor, then both Rec and Servant x Service definitely has similarities in terms of their stories. In fact, the main female protagonist is a new recruit to their line of business. They start out as a newbie but adjusts to their environment as each episode progresses. Speaking of progressing, the main female protagonist also has interesting relationships with the various characters at their workplace ranging from friendship, to romantic, and to respect. There's also fun comedy and humorous dialogues that formulates entertainment for both series.
report Recommended by Stark700
While both series doesn't have the same premise, they involve the concept of the working environment. The major difference is the addition of animals in Shirokuma Cafe. However, Servant x Service does have our mascot bunny as a boss. There's a lot of humorous moments presented in a slice of life format. The main characters' interactions makes up for the memorable scenes and dialogues. Both series' also has an ordinary girl that works with the characters who is considered kind but sometimes naive.

Cute main heroine? Check. Office setting? Check. Quirky Cast of Characters? Check. Bubbling Romance? Check. Hilarious laughing? Check. Servant x Service follows Lucy Yamagami as she begins her job as a government employee. However this show is anything but typical. Like Aggressive, it takes a normal day and brings it up a notch to something more grander than typically allowed with it's humour and zany characters.

It's pleasant mindless fun. So you can sit back, grab a snack, and enjoy it!
report Recommended by Suteii
Both Servant x Service and Inu x Boku SS skillfully handle character relationships where you find yourself cheering as the plot progresses because the development is very well executed.

Female character enters job for revenge. Main male character teases main female character.
report Recommended by rudeAi
They are both slice of life comedy themed animes with attractive characters and nice seiyuus. Likeable by both male and female audiences.
report Recommended by MizukoAoki
Similar comedy, very similar characters, the plot is in adult world, maybe there isn't so many deph in the story, but it is like a comedy when something like Morita tries to hit on a sexually oblivious girl :D
report Recommended by EvaZariche
The Comedy is similar and there is an air of romance. The reaction of the characters to random events is what makes them both hilarious. Although, SxS takes place with adults in a work environment, not a high school
