This is my first review, I'll do my best. Also, I watched it in 2005 or 2006, when I was a child, this is one of my first anime series I've seen.

Story: 9

Let's start with the story. JUST LET ME TELL YOU: It's not all about COOKING, this anime is more than that, and I freely recommend it to boys and girls.

The story is about Jang Geum and her adventures in the Emperor's Palace, cooking delicious food, and making people happy with it. She's talented and smart, friendly and cheerful making good friends.
But that's not all! Jang Geum is a girl with courage and read more

This is my first review I've written but I'll try my best. I haven't finished this but i already love it. This story has a light hearted feel yet it gets deeper the more you watch. I love this story because the main character is not weak. Even though those were rough times for the poor and women, she didn't let it hinder her. She's very bright and hardworking.
The animation is great too. Although you can tell it differs from the norm anime. It has korean style. Witch isn't bad, it's refreshing. I also think the music is adorable. It has a very good read more

Both story are very alike, for one they follow a girl who have the same dream to be good at cooking. in jangeum case it's lots of different dishes and in amano case there are sweets. also girls are probably about same age.
both mikan and janggeum have a goal to get in place where only special people can get in. and they are trying hard to be recognised by people. I think if you like this anime you will like the ither too.
Well they both start of with two little girls who are smart, cheerful, and hardworking. They give me the same feel and if you watch em both you'll notice some similarities
This is similar because They both have two main characters who work to overcome that gender barrier. They are both women in olden times who are very bright and work in a palace. Hardworking even though they face hardships or bullying. If you like one you'll like the other. Saiunkoku is more adultish though.
