Both shows follow a singular "ace" that progresses through tournaments and becomes increasingly better at soccer. Whistle is a little more on the realistic side (and also more childish), whereas Wild Striker has a few "super" moves, but is also more fun and for a slightly older audience. Young kids = Whistle, Older crowd = wild striker.
Both are sports anime about soccer although Hungry Heart Wild Striker is a lot better.
Both animes are about soccer
They are both the best soccer animes, if you like one you have to see the other.
There are a lot of things that reminds me of the other anime. They're both about a striker that wants to become a pro.The main characters and in some other supporting characters there are a lot of similarities to find. Even the endings are a lot like each other. I won't tell what exactly, cause I don't want to spoil the plot. So if you have looked one, you should also watch the other, because there are a lot of things that are alike (and to like). Even tough, there is some other atmosphere, I personally prefer Hungry Heart Wild Striker (a little) above Whistle!, but both are really enjoyable.
Both are soccer animes, aiming to become national champs. both have underdog teams taht rise in rank as new player joins.
they are both really good soccer animes and you can watch the developement of each of the characters.
The're both soccer animes.....
Both main characters try to become pros and tries to get better at them....
Both are sports anime about soccer.
they're quite similar, both main characters were raised by foster parents, both were sons of very promising players, while whistle is about younger players it does not go with impossible plays as captain tsubasa, one thing though, the main character voice in whistle is about the worse i've heard EVER!!!! if you can get pass by that then it's a pretty cool anime.

Both sports anime. Both male leads are self professing 'genius' at the sports, and have about the same character. The leads' group of friends even seem similar!
Two very similar anime's we have here, but only in one way and that is the main charachter and his friends/team and all the happy and serious moments that go with them.
Slam Dunk is closer to the real basketball play then Hungry Heart is to real football, but the atmosphere during the games in both animes are sometimes breathtaking.
The only difference in the main charaters is that Sakuragi from Slam Dunk never played basketball before joining the school team while Kanou did but he stoped for a period for some resones.
Through the anime both of them became the key player of the team, and they aim to win the nationals.
Both shows have a redhead tough guy with insane power and reflexes that takes interest in a sport (soccer vs. basketball) and is quite talented at it but often make goofy mistakes. Both are very cocky and talk a lot. Also, Both shows have a gorilla-looking character that puts the redhead in his place with a knock or two when he gets out of line for comedic effect.
Aside from the sport in question, the two series are extremely similar.
Very similar main characters, humor, ambition, basically just change the sport.
Change the soccer part with basketball n u will make hungry heart become slam dunk
Both main character are very energic, dumbass,n short tempered..Also.a bit problem with woman
U will feel similarity in the spirit from both anime that will make you happy to watch it

Similar plot but Hungry Heart is way better IMO.
By same author, Yoichi Takahashi.
Both characters are nekketsu. Kanou's personality is more along the lines of Hyuga though.
Same author works. Nice soccer shows. They looks like a remake, Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 is a "childish" version of Hungry Heart: Wild Striker.

main guy not liked at first and both are determined to lead the team to victory
both about football, both about teams struggling to be better, GK about a pro team, Hungry Heart about a high school team, both have comedy, but GK is a more down to earth look at the sport.
If you love football you'll love this. Giant Killing revolves a lot more about tactics and makes for some very interesting stuff.

Both are about football and can also be categorized as 'high school anime', something the creator of this series purposely left out of Captain Tsubasa. It deals with relationships (both romantic and friendship), growing and learning about football as the series goes.
Soccer, school club, friendship, brothers into sport, teenage themed, soft romance.

Well.. they are both about soccer. Aoki Densetsu Shoot is older though. But I gotta say Wild Striker is a lot more fun to watch.
Basically the same pattern in the plot... they are both great soccer anime. The main characters in both cases are really getting to you.

I always knew Hungry Heart and Captain Tsubasa had some relation. Later, I found out it was created by the same person! Hungry Heart is an anime I totally loved and still love as football is my favorite sport! It's story shows courage and determination like you'll never see it! Totally recommended! ^^
Another soccer anime from the same autor of Captain Tsubasa.

Both heavily focus on shounen and comedy. The male protagonists both start off hopeless as they are plunged into a new world (Kyosuke with Soccer and Luffy in the Grand Line). However, they grow and gain new friends and rivals along their journey.

|
Both male protagonists are a "genius" in their specified sport. However, they start off hopeless and grow with each game and each new encounter. Both of them are also very similar in character (hot-headed, dedicated, etc).
Character development is evident in both but Major emphasizes this element more with each season (6 in total) as you see the protagonist Goro grow from a baby to an adult.
Both contain similar themes and have a mutual love interest. If you enjoy the sport, you'll love the anime.

Soccer anime!!!
its similar but different
Both have comedy and serious focus in soccer.
|
|
|
Both have a hotheaded protagonist with superior strength and just loves beating the crap out of those who piss them off.
Though they do have a totally different plot (One being a quasi-teacher of a class full of delinquents and the other a student and his football club life)
But seriously, those two lead characters are like reincarnation of each other in different animes! The way they talk, behave, troubles others, and how they use their superior strength to solve any problems they face.
So the point is, if you idolize one of the protagonist in those anime, you'll surely love the other as well!

both try to achieve their dream to become a professional soccer/tennis player and try to lead their team to win the national. also both have to overcome their difficult pf facing many different teams. both player are very talented and have many potential to become stronger....

Their all about sports.. they both reaching their goals through hard training... :D
|
|
|
Both sports animes about an immensely gifted son and all the effort, work and sacrifice it takes to live up to his own potential. (I put the recommendation on S2 of Major because of the age similarity, but you should start at S1 if you're going to!)
