Both are really well done slice of life series that focus on students attending college focusing on artistic subjects (fine arts for Honey and Clover and classical music for Nodame Cantabile). The artistic style in both series is similar as well with well rounded humor to balance things out. I also can't help but see similarities between Morita and Nodame. I keep thinking that Nodame is the female version of Morita. :D
Produced by the same company, both anime have similar storylines and great music.
Both produced by J.C Staff, with similar art styles and featuring amazing music. Although the plots are entirely different, both animes will definitely appeal to you if you're looking for good slice of life anime that is both thought provoking and infinitely stirring while maintaining a light-hearted mood.
Peace atmosphere, same kind of graphic and almost the same humorous taste.
2 great dramas by the same studio. And they're both very funny! ^^
Nodame Cantabile is a great anime, especially if your fond of music. many people actually judge this anime directly because of its art, but it really has a great story. On the other hand Honey and Clover is the kind of anime wherein you could really appreciate the story as a whole especially the season II, despite the similarities of the art it really has a great story. I really recommend you watching it because I know you will really appreciate it. ^_^
definitly the same atmosphere.
Both are about college life and arts (music and art). Love, life and friendship. Wonderful feel good animes. Not to mention both have comedic moments too.
Both produced by J.C. Staff, Honey and Clover and Nodame Cantabile are romantic comedies with elements of fine arts (more so with Nodame Cantabile, in my opinion) and a similar comic style. Although they may have comedy elements, the romance in both of these is extremely powerful. A must watch for almost anyone.
The other explanations are spot on, similar feel, similar brand of humour, if you enjoyed one, you'll more than likely enjoy the other.
Same theme. Comedy mixed with daily drama. Both anime are great in slice of life genre.
Two slice of life/comedy shows that focu on college students, rather than highschool. They have a similar feel since one takes place in an art college and another in a music school.
Both are produced by the same studio. Both are hilarious, dramatic, and share a unique cast of characters with a particular appeal that captivates the audience.
both anime has hilarious comedy going around college/academy students. honey and clover may be a bit more romantic, but nodame has it too...oh and they have good soundtracks.
similar feel, similar humour, if you enjoyed one, you'll likely enjoy the other anime too.both are slice of life.
The animation and the whole general mood of trying to succeed in an artistic field are both extremely similar to each other.

similar animation and emotional storyline
The animation is similar especially the insert songs.
Both shows are extremely good shoujo romace/slice of life, and they both deal with similar themes. Honey and Clover has more emphasis on career and work, however, as the characters are older.
Mokura ga Ita has the same feel as Honey and Clover. It might be because of the insert songs or the animation.
The art style is really similar and both has drama with romantica.

Nana feels like the love-child of Beck and Honey & Clover. If you liked Nana, I'd suggest Honey & Clover if you liked the coming of age, slice of life, romance/drama aspects of Nana. And vice versa. =)
Both of these animes have a large prospect in the slice of life point of view and the drama in these animes are overwhelming. >_> While Nana concentrates on Music, Honey and Clover concentrates on Art, and they both display the characters of these anime trying to pursue a career toward these things.
both are slice of life dramas with a touch of romance and even some comedy. both portray the ups and downs of life extremely well, having tons of soul searching, character development, beautiful development between the characters in complex, interesting and realistic ways. beautiful!!

Both series have great art direction. The character designs for both anime were done by Umino Chika, who also wrote the Honey and Clover manga. Similarities in other aspects of the visual style can also be seen in the opening and closing animations and background designs. Both shows also deal with the themes of romance and separation.
Similarities between the characters' personalities, the art style, and the sense of humor found in both animes.
Same pretty art style, romantic content and some similiarities in characters.
Higashi no Eden is more deep, telling about changing the world, while Honey and Clover is lighter, more of a romance and focused mostly on relationships and pshychological aspects of love.

On one hand Genshiken doesnt have romantic stories. But still it's a slice of life and narration is rather melancholic.
If you like calm series about normal life, so you can enjoy Genshiken as well as Honey and Clover
Students from university trying to find happiness in life. Both anime are bitter-sweet, but they leave a viewer with a simile on his or her face, claiming that we really can be happy, even in spite of difficulties.

they are both based around romance, and though they have different storylines, the general feel (in some aspects), comedy, character development are similar. both brilliant slice-of-life drama romantic comedies which is different from the usual harem. both how slice-of-lifes should really be like. also, morita = Tamaki (to an extent)
Both are light-hearted slice-of-life shows with just the right amount of romance, comedy, and drama. Overall, the general atmosphere gives off a "refreshing" feeling as well.

honey and clover is faster paced and less reflective, whilst 5 cm per second is much more bittersweet, however both shows the harshness of life, and shows the aspects (good and mainly bad) of love. amazing watches.
Both show how tough love and life can be. And how people slowly drift away from each other. There's unrequited love in them too, which makes them even more dramatic.

Both series deal with 5 friends in a school setting. (Honey and Clover in college). Both are slice-of-life comedies that also have drama mixed in. Both are VERY character centric.
both start off a comedy
and end an adolescence drama, main character grownup, relationship concluded, future chosen

While the setting on these two animes is very different, the themes flowing through them are very similar; Love, Friendship and Trust.
The reliance on these themes makes for great story telling with perfectly executed character development.
If you like the more serious side of H&C, then definately check this one out (that's not to say that Gankutsuou doesnt have its share of laughs).
Both focus on a group of friends going through tough times. Lots of drama and emotion within them both.

another great drama, slice-of-life or what have you.. it's centered mostly on the romance between just two characters which leaves more room for character development.. some interesting comedy thrown in there too-not exactly what i've seen in other series but it works.. it doesn't give me the same sort of feeling as honey and clover, but i just wanted to recommend it because it's highly entertaining.
Similar type of storytelling. A good mix of comedy and romance. Incredible soundtrack.

Story of the adolescents. All adults are used to be teenagers. And all teenagers will manage to become grown-up.
Both shows feature how teenagers deal with relationships and become more adult in the process. Aoi Hana offers shoujo-ai elements as a sidekick while honey&clover has comedy elements that you can considered them as comic relieves. The tension of both drama show are not always high, cuteness and jokes relieve it. Both are recommended for comfortable, slice of life fans.
The pangs of growing up and coming into your own, first loves, true loves, friendships and social responsibilities are important themes in Aoi Hana and Honey and Clover.
Both anime have light, gentle and soothing atmospheres pregnant with heavy emotions. While Aoi Hana lacks the verbal narration found in Honey and Clover, Honey and Clover in turn lacks the visual narrative style found in Aoi Hana. However, each anime is driven by the characters and their development.
Despite Honey and Clover featuring university students, Aoi Hana's cast being composed of high schoolers, the depiction of each sect is realistically and carefully handled. What you have in the end are two anime with convincing, maturing and likeable characters with whom you can empathise and sympathise.
Aoi Hana focusses more on drama while Honey and Clover utilises a more comedic approach, but both are essentially great slice of life anime with touches of romance to them.

Slice-of-life, slow pace. They've got almost the same feel in them.
In both stories, the main character is on a journey to find themselves and solve their problems while riding aimlessly on a bicycle. (Though this happens in later episodes for "Honey and Clover").
Both anime' series' timeframe is somewhat related to college life.
The animation and the atmosphere that both give you is the same.
Both series are very bittersweet, with plentiful moments of light-hearted comedy and emotional drama. They share the theme that nothing lasts forever, and that is what makes life so precious. Both have an incredibly memorable cast of characters, as well as a dreamy watercolor art style.

Both are quite funny in places and have extreme characters...

While the setting of Emma is Victorian, and that of Honey and Clover is Modern, if you want the light and airy atmosphere, then this anime would be worth it. While both encompass the "slice of life" and romantic touch, where Emma has its serious tone, Honey and Clover is mixed with good comedy.
Although, unlike the single focused character of Emma, Honey and Clover revolves around the lives of 5 friends in an Art College, but the focus for both are the same: their relationships, their characters, their troubles.
Both feature poignant scenes in which hard-boiled eggs are eaten in awkward silence.
They both have the same dramatic feel to it. Both sound tracks are phenomenal (I would have to say Honey and Clovers is better though). Both are about love and friendship too. However, Clannad as some supernatural elements and takes place in High school where as Honey and Clover is basically 100% real college life with no supernatural elements. Bits of humor too... I thought of Clannad when i saw H&C so watch em!

Darker love stories with bits of humor mixed in.
Slice of life drama, has both comedy and sad stories. It can make you laugh one moment and cry the next.
Both contain the same kind of real life drama and anxieties that often come with life and stress the importance of the people around you at all times. Both are equal parts comedy and drama, and both have girls that look far younger than they really are ^_^
strong philosophical, humanistic element
The characters in both series go to art schools and at the same time, they experience love and friendship with their peers.
well.. it's my other favorite drama [without all the science-fiction-y unrealistic elements].. great animation, some of the best i've seen.. and the characters are solid.. romance, whatnot.. it's all there and my guess is that if you liked honey and clover you'd like this one as well.

At first glance these two series are nothing a like. One is about lives of people who work in space, the other the lives of art school students. But at their cores, both series are exploring what it means to be human or how to live in this world, and the path these people take in finding their way in the world. Both series start slow as they take the time to let you get to know the characters. However around the halfway point they begin to go through some changes that will ultimately lead to their development. Most of the characters have their own back story which gives them their drive. Both of these series center on how the characters grow as individuals, in their own way. If you liked that about one of the series, then give the other a try. Aside from what I wrote, keep in mind these series are very different in how they tell their story and what they use as plot devices.

Both dealing with the same issues--unrequited love, school, and not to mention lovable characters and great humor.
Slice-of-Life character study featuring college students having ambiguous romantic feelings for each other. Totally different feel, though.
The relationship between the protagonists are both incredibly deep.
The pace of both the stories are comparable, somehow H&C reminded me to the movie.
both extremely emotional dramas which reflect the harshness of love and life. both show many different storylines which show the soul searching of different individuals. ef a tale of memories is more based on young school goers and is also more artistic, whilst honey and clover is more based on older adult problems and has a different way of protraying the events; however both and brilliant watches and both have the same extremely bitter sweet taste.

well... there's the infatuation of the older guy to a small girl, this time its not only the height but also the age... but then the most similar of the two are: school life, love/romance, comedy... oh... don't worry the guy doesn't have a shotacon complex... its just that he's attached to this younger "girl"... ^_^

Takemoto and Koyuki are both struggling to fulfill their artistic dreams while maturing and confronting the obstacles of life.
