A boy named Yuuichi is moving to a town he lived in seven years ago. However, he doesn't remember anything. When living in this town, he meets a lot of girls, all with tragic stories, and he helps them.
Sure, the concept sounds like just about any other anime based on a visual novel would be. However, despite several other shows of that type, this actually does remarkably well.
STORY
Well, to be honest, this show has got to be one of the greater shows I've ever watched, no doubt! The story is just so good it leaves me astonished at times. It starts out as a pretty normal show of its genre. You're also introduced to several of the girls, but it doesn't touch upon all their stories at once. There's some comedic moments every now and then.
At first it might seem like it's just some slice of life series, but the story progresses a lot from its initial stages, and as you're taken through the individual girls' story arcs, you'll be taken away. It has good a lot of good moments, some romantic, some dramatic. However, just about everything that happens in the story later on will base itself on supernatural elements (mostly miracles), which makes a contrast to the earlier parts of it. That's not really a bad thing though; I at least found it most enjoyable.
ART
The animation in the series is really awesome too; the character designs, details in environments and everything just looks awesome. The lighting which you find in many of the afternoon scenes is pure awesomeness too; it really makes the scenes moody; and very dramatic if that's what the scene is about.
CHARACTER
The characters of Kanon is really awesome. The girls' stories are just awesome to behold, and Yuuichi's own background with them is very intriguing, and it ends up making you wanting to know more about it. The main hero, Yuuichi, is also a very interesting character in his own right. To be short about it; they are awesome and you'll love them (at least one or two of them).
SOUND
The music in this anime is really great as well. There's a lot of nice piano themes, so if you enjoy good piano themes you'll definitely enjoy the music in this series. The show's got some good music aside that too, and the OP and ED themes are magnificent.
There's nothing to say on the sounds aside the music, and the seiyuu do a great job on their roles; the characters' voices are very good.
All in all, this is a lovely anime, a true masterpiece. If you like anime series based on visual novels, you'll enjoy this. If you haven't watched any anime series of that kind, watch it anyway, because you'll love it.
To 'Not Helpful' voters (and you 'Helpful' voters too): Feedback greatly appreciated =) read more

"It's called a miracle because it never happens." - Misaka Shiori
This review could contain some spoilers if you have not watched Clannad.
Kanon (2006) or Kanon for short, as a whole is a riveting story, but it left me wanting a bit more, no, I don't mean it in a good way. I'll explain it soon.
Story: You have Yuuichi Aizawa, who returns to a city he used to visit after being gone for several years. He lives with his cousin Nayuki, and goes to school with her. As soon as he transfers to her school, that's when things begin to ravel, and he recollects his past. I won't explain much because I'm afraid I might spoil, but the synopsis is there for you. The story is a very entertaining one if you're a fan of drama and romance. The episodes are set up nicely, leaving you wanting to watch the next one. Don't let the cliches early in the series drive you away, as the rest of the series can change your mind about it. Keep in mind that this series has 'Supernatural' as one of the genres, so try not to judge this with realism. This may be slow paced for some people, but comparing this to Clannad (which you should not fully compare it to), the story runs at a much quicker pace.
Rating: 9
Comparing to Clannad: I think Clannad is more popular than Kanon, so more people probably have watched that first. Keep in mind that Clannad was aired a couple of months after Kanon was done, so the similarities between the two are very high. The plot between the two are not 100% identical, but this being a Key visual novel adaptation, well I'm not saying anymore. What I'm saying is you shouldn't compare those two thinking it's the absolute same thing. The difference I can say about Kanon is that the drama and conflict isn't as forced as After Story.
Character: The development between Yuuichi and the other characters was pretty good, but I think could have been improved on some characters. However, it's just enough to make you know a lot about them, know their relationships between the main character, and understand their feelings. The conflict and drama of Kanon really hit you hard, and that's what kept me interested in this series.
Rating: 9
Sound: To start Kanon, Last Regrets is played as the opening, which I think is really fitting to the series and is a great song in general. However, the soundtrack is the real thing. Some of the tracks are from the visual novel, but everything is fitting throughout. Oh yeah, Canon in D.
Rating: 10
Art: The art is comparable to Air, and looks almost identical to Clannad (e.g. Ayu looks a lot like Fuko), but nonetheless, the animations are just as good.
Rating: 9
Enjoyment/Overall: Kanon (2006) was a really enjoyable series to watch. The drama keeps you glued to your seat, and also makes you tear up in many moments. Though it left me wanting more, and supernatural elements playing a role, I was very satisfied with series, and would recommend it to anyone.

Kyoto Animation is the producer again. The stories have the same positive feeling about them, the art is amazing in both, and each Character is unique.
Same characters, same Animation Studio, same voices, same story...You can't miss this!
The two main characters are very similar in their sarcastic tone. The story surrounds the main male lead's interaction with the girls around him.
Same company made both with very similar elements such as the theme music. Both have very good storylines that are totally individual to the character no matter how random it is.
The same studio, similiar main characters, many cute girls, both are fantastic.
The shows are both very similar in the fact that parts of the stories mirror each other as well as similar main character in similar situation
Well, it has the same productionstudio, same kind of animation and style. Even the music sounds the same (what is great). And if you like the mysterious style of Clannad, you sure will in Kanon (2006). Clannad actually "steals" the same type of jokes from Kanon, so you can't go wrong with both ^^
From watching the first few episodes it is obvious to notice several similarities between the 2 shows and I'm not just talking about the production studio. ^_^
its made by the same people, and has the same sort of effect-like you could go back and watch it hundreds of times.
Both by the same company. As tory of loyalty and love, both animes are about the school life of high school students. There are different arcs for different characters and you'll see the sad and happy parts of each person's life
Very Similar. It's Actually Made By The Same People. That's Why It's So Good.
:-)
Both Produced by the prestigious developer KEY and the renowned animation Studio Kyoto Animation. Its something you DONT wanna miss (:
The quality and cohesiveness of how the story all goes together. The slight, but perfectly witty and timed humor from the male protagonist is present in both. Both also have the perfect mix of humor and drama.
Kanon 2006 is the second of the Key/Kyoto series and later followed by Clannad
because some of the characters are the same like
fuko and aya
Made by the same company, aniamted in the same style and basically a pretty similar plot-line, Clannad and Kanon are very much alike and yet both so awfully enjoyable. The classic elements and humour you saw in Kanon (2006) are all present in Clannad, if not more so.
Like many others say, it is made by the same people. It has the same sort of sarcastic main character that has a different sort of relationship with numerous girls. However, unlike many other animes, these are clean fun that aren't loaded down with fan service and ecchi.
They both seem to have the same story plot, a boy surrounded by girls.
its also made by the same creator "Key"
Well, they are similar to a very high degree that there are almost the same.
I really enjoyed Clannad and I enjoyed Kanon (2006) even more! Kyoto Animation works its magic in both of these romance / drama anime. Clannad and Kanon were both written by Key, and were video games before anime. They both have really intriguing plots and the animation is amazing and close to flawless! I was brought to tears by both of these shows. There are really moving scenes, and also scenes where you find yourself smiling from ear to ear or even laughing! I strongly recommend Kanon (2006) if you liked Clannad!
same company, have similar characteristics...
Same original visual novel studio (key), same animation studio (Kyoani)
Agree with all the others here. CLANNAD is a revisiting of the themes in Kanon, so watch that one first.
It is a very similar plot as are all made by Key a harem type anime where a boy helps out a bunch of girls
Same creators, similar story, similar characters, similar music... The two series are almost exactly the same, so if you liked one of them, you'd propably enjoy the other one too.
Clannad and Kanon 2006 belong to the same creator and they share a story, art and very similar characters.
Same maker, very similar, two great animes.
Both animes are made by the same company. These two series' have lovely art and story lines, filled with romance, drama, and comedy. Both involve a male lead who befriends a couple girls and learns more about them.
Clannad and Kanon have a similar kind of Tragedy element, where Kanon is slightly stronger in Tragedy, and Clannad has a stronger Commedy/Romance feel.
They'll both make you cry and if you love one, you'll like (or love) the other.
Both Animes are centered around a male lead and many females. They are also Key + KyoAni, which pretty much means they both have amazing animations.
The stories are a little bit similar. They have the same positive feeling about them, the art is also amazing. They both are kinds like miracle happens. Really Beutifull story.
The third anime provided by Key Studios portraying great animation as always by Kyoto Animation Studios. Well-liked characters from Kanon06 can certainly be found in Clannad as well.
Both stories are originally done by Key, and both are of the romance genre. Both Kanon and CLANNAD are highly dramatic, and considering the many similarities between both stories, a fan of CLANNAD would definitely love Kanon (2006).
Both were adapted from visual novels by Key and animated by the same studio - Kyoto Animation.
They're boh visual novels by Key and were adapted by Kyoto Animation. The storylines are quite similar. They both involve a male protagonist who helps different young girls he befriends throughout the series.
Same art style and character personalities and plots are similar like a girl disappear in both. Super drama is how I define these two. The main characters like to be funny and joke around.
The characters are really similar by nature; Yuuichi and Tomoya are both pretty sarcastic and there is plenty of girls around him. Also girls resembles each others on strange ways. Also the animation is done by the same studio. And both animes have "snow opening".
Same as Clannad, But a little more focused on the comedy side, If you liked Clannad, you will sure like Kanon
It is made from the same people, and they are similar ind that the genre is the same.
Made by KyoAni, have similar feeling to them
Both adaptions of Key visual novels by the ever so capable Kyoto Animation. The girls are pretty similar and the male leads are both incredibly sarcastic.
Produced by the same people, Clannad and Kanon are really similar. They both have a lot of girls, a little bit of supernatural, and the atmosphere of the anime is really calm.
Very similar drawing style. The behaviour of both main chars are also so similar, that I imagined it's a story about one person in two different dimensions.
They are both about the past and about characters who are a lot the same. People hiding their past and trying to make friends.
These anime have a very similar feeling to them. I watched Clannad before Kanon 2006 and when I watched Kanon 2006 I felt the same way as I had with Clannad.
Yes, if you like one of these, you will like the other.
If you liked Clannad, you will like Kannon 2006, give it a try, i wont say anything more
Characters, story and much more.
The greats Key/ Visual Art's works!
Same people did this. Same good art, lovable characters, heart wrenching moments. A little more action and a lot less tears, but overall good series if you liked Clannad.
First off, they're both made by Key. That right there is a plus. Both anime revolve around a young man surrounded by girls, they both have many teary moments, and they both easily make you laugh. The art style is somewhat similar, and you're pretty much guaranteed to find a character you'll end up favoriting. They also both have a few magical elements added into the mix.
well it is made from the same company and the story line is almost the same
The stories have the same positive feeling about them, and each Character is unique.
Same studio and if you watched the one you really have to watch the other.
Both are romances with a little bit of fantasy in them but it doesn't ruin the story itself even if you don't like fantasy =]
both have a kind boy around some girls and thay are nade bay kyoto animation
Yuuichi = Tomoya; the same mangaka, both have very similar style.
Kanon and Clannad may seem to have come out of the same mold. Truth is, they have - there are many similarities between the two. They are both excellent nonetheless and you should watch BOTH.
Trust me on this one, I was a bit skeptical on whether I should Kanon if I've already finished watching Clannad or which one I should watch first but in reality, it doesn't matter. Chances are if you liked one of these two animes you will like the other one just as much.
Almost the same anime as the other. x)
Made by same producer. Comedy, school, slice of life romances which have one main male characters and a lots of different girls around him.
Both feature a male protagonist meeting different females who have weird quirks
In Kanon Ayu says "uguu" a lot
In Air Misuzu says "gao" a lot
In Clannad Nagisa is obsessed with the dango song
They have similar art and music and will both make you CRY!
Same genres
They're both about love and drama in daily life. Also, they're both rather sad.
5 cute girls 1 guy and a lot of emotions.
There both high school harems with great music and sarcastic main characters.
they both have lots of romances and drama and if u like this kinds of thing i think you should watch them for sure. these or two of the best drama anime iv ever seen so far and the best anime to hope i find more like these soon.
Kanon is, in my book, a must if you're into the comedy, romance & supernatural genres as in Clannad & Afterstory.
Both are created by Key and animated by KyoAni.
There's a positive and happy foreground, but the backgrounds of each character are very deep. Many arcs focus on the main characters, further developing them, and continuing the overall plot.
Similar atmosphere and characters in both animes.
Storyline is a bit different but only a bit and your feelings when you are watching them are very similar.
Both of them are very emotional stories with a bit of harem: a boy who is friend of several girls and helps them a lot.
I really think that if you liked one of them, you'll definitely have to watch the another one. And if you like high-school stories with romance, fantasy, a bit of mistery, a bit of harem... (and very emotional stories), you should watch both of them.
oriented towards a school as the backdrop to an engaging plot, if you are a sap/ sucker like myself, this could be a potential tear jerker
Honestly, these things are the same damn show, with many similar characters, absurd amounts of moe, and the main difference is that Clannad has a lot more jokes than Kanon, yet you know you're going to love both just as much.
Made by the same company. Kanon and Clannad both have their good parts but ultimately Clannad beats Kanon and shows why the company Key is awesome.
Kanon and Clannad are made by the same people and are similar in the slice of life theory. You'll enjoy it as much as Clannad
Both are very similar, after all, they are made by the same company. The difference: Kanon has a huge moe factor, as many of the characters have a cute catch phrase they repeat (Uguu~!). Kanon also has more of a mystical element, while Clannad is pretty realistic (though, there are mystic elements too in the form of ancient Japanese folklore).
Both were originally developed as a Visual Novel by key. In addition, the anime version of each one contains a exceptional combination of Drama, Romance and bit of comedy.
Aside from both being created by Key, Kanon and Clannad both are herems centered around a kind-hearted guy who helps one girl after another. Both of these animes are very comical at points, but also have their sensitive moments. There are points at where you're completely appalled by what you have found out and leaves you asking and wanting more.
Both are great visual novel adaptations by Key (you should consider checking them out if you liked either of these!) which revolve around a likable and clever protagonist helping out a bunch of girls. Each of them have a good deal of drama, as well as some great comedy. Kanon and Clannad each have supernatural elements, and many of the characters are quite similar, although to go into their similarities would spoil it. They're both very good, but the second season of Clannad sweeps them both away.
same genre. Also has some same problems as Kanon
Same studio and same theme , 5 girls 1 boy, comedy and sad moments
Same producers - namely KyoAni, and they both have the same vibe. They share a lot of similarities, everything from a guy helping girls with various things, to love and the emotions they bring out.
To cut it short - if you liked Kanon, then you will definitely like Clannad.
Same creators and both anime are very sad Uguu~~
Same producer and they're both EPIC.
also about a boy who finds himself in a mystery with several girls
Same creator, studio, and a plot eerily similar to each other. You could pretty much substitute the characters back and forth and you wouldn't notice much of a difference. The biggest difference I would say is the higher art quality in Clannad, as well as a more serious aspect to Kanon. Clannad uses comedy throughout the series to great effect, which Kanon also uses, however to a much lesser extent. Both are great series, and if you liked one, you'll like the other.
Both have crisp animation and art style characteristic to Key. You'll find cute characters like Ayu, Fuko, Nagisa, Nayuki, Shiori, Kotomi, Kyou and many more in both of these, one of which you are bound to like, and eventually get to love. These two animes have that specific heartwarming style of storytelling. If you've watched one of these, it is crucial that you do not miss the other.
-Self-narrative protagonists
-Each girl receives her own arc
-Animes adapted from creations by KEY
-Drama, romance, comedy, bromance, school life, all along with supernatural tones
same company. both use elements of "miracles" in their stories. both have 5 girls protagonists, and many are actually very similar - Ayu = Fuko, Mai = Tomoyo (maybe), etc.
Both are almost harem, where in the beginning, the male lead has connections with every girl, and in the end chooses one. However, I would say that Kanon is sadder in general while Clannad is mostly happy (until after story anyways)
Basically the Same Anime, They Are So close Its Ridiculous.
Both Centre Around A Nice Guys Who Cant Help But Help Females Out With their Problems, Which Causes them To Swarm to Him Like Flys, Both Under A Harem Fantasy Category To.
Both is made by kyoani, both is made by key, both is tear jerk, both have an amazing story line.
The story evolves between one guy a few girls in High School which is similar to Clannad. Both of them has supernaturals in them. Also they both has a spirit of a young looking kid which claims to be in the same grade as the main character. Both of them has a lot of very similar characters. Therefore, if you love one of the anime, you will love the other. But the Most important thing of all, is that both of them has the same creator
Both are dramatic harem from the same director.
Both whare Created By Key so both of them are awsome. If you like Clannad, u will defenetly life Kanon 2006 aswell
Both series show us very good story. Watching both series will cause a lot of tears in our eyes;)
I was recommended to watch Kanon after Clannad by a friend, and I can see why. Both animes are from Visual Arts/Key, they are similarly animated and they have their own very interesting stories to tell about the citizens of a town. Who knew a little magic, some storytelling and interesting characters could make such great animes?
These 2 animes are both made by the same company (key visual arts) the story line is similar it takes place with another guy surronded by girls but is bad at school and is always in trouble one day he meets a girl called nagisa on his way to school which starts to change his approach to school and life and caring throughout the series the main protagonist tomoya helps other friends to gain orbs for the future the orbs he gets will help for season 2 now you will have to watch this first to go on to season 2 the after story
Both series are masterpieces and emotion-packed moments. You should expect some tissues if you are very sensitive. The achievement is of great beauty. In the two series you will follow the adventures of a boy who will create strong bonds of friendship and maybe more ... Expect to spend a great time watching these animes simple and refreshing. (Sorry for my English)
Same type of story. In first few episodes, the main male character gets to know many female characters, and later on in the series, tragic events happen with a few episodes dedicated to each female character.
Both are very touching and emotional stories. Make sure you get some tissues before watching them. =)
Both anime series are extremely similar. From art-style, animation, and character design to the involvement of somewhat magical elements, storyline, and events. If you enjoyed either Clannad or Kanon, you'll definitely enjoy the other.
Both have very similar art.
same creator, you get the same feeling from both, kyoani does both, so animation is amazing
Both are very touching and emotional stories.
Incredulously similar and both involving very good characters where the ending is a happy ending for everyone
Both anime involves a guy who helps others while at the same time dealing with his own, although 1 deals with slight memory loss and the other dealing with family issues. Both created and produced by the same people
As if the 104 other recommendations to Kanon weren't enough, I felt as if I had to add to the rec pile since a lot of people I know who have watched Clannad have slipped by Kanon (2006).
The first thing I'd like to say is that I don't believe Kanon was inferior to the first season of Clannad in any way shape or form, despite a lot of people who say so. The only disadvantage that Kanon had to the Clannad series was its length, which didn't include the "After Story" portion and didn't give Kanon the opportunity to add further depth to its story.
Clannad and Kanon involve a harem-like setting, while at the same time not really presenting itself as a typical harem. This is mainly evident through their protagonists - witty, grounded, and a bit sarcastic (they both remind me of Kyon from Haruhi; a type of character that's always fun to watch). Also, it's really difficult to hate any of the characters in Clannad and Kanon. They may be fairly moe, but they're believable and all likeable.
Essentially, the plots of the two anime revolve around a main character helping various girls in a highschool/small town setting. Don't let my lacklustre synopsis fool you though, the storylines are deep and rewarding that give you indescribable feelings of joy and sadness (sometimes, at the same time). These plots are supported by a pretty fantastic job on art, drawn by the same studio.
One thing I would NOT recommend is watching these two anime back to back. While they are both fantastic, it'd probably be best to recover from the emotional shellshock of watching Clannad/Kanon before watching the other. Seeing any two Kyoto anime back to back is like going back in time, and it'd be crazy to watch them back to back (trust me on this, you'll enjoy both of them way more).
Thanks for the read, and enjoy!
Riotnoob.
Kanon has that cute, funny, serious, supernatural and mysterious feel to it as did Clannad. It doesn't go as deep as Clannad though, but it will give you around the same feeling.
made by the same makers. kind of the same principe. one guy and multiple girls who all had a rough past.. and alot of romance in both..
Because they are both have a main boy character that doesn't like school or doesn't have meaning to their lives. Characters in the shows are simular, they both have deaths. They are both funny and sad, and i recemand watching both.
Both series follow the same basic structure, with the main male character helping a cast of female characters with their problems. Each arc starts out funny and lighthearted, but slowly turn into very sad stories.
Well, both stories are done by the same visual novel company, Key. They are essentially set up in the same harem (1 boy and 5 girls) format. But unlike typical harem, both anime actually have plot involving these characters and the story makes sense.
Despite what I said previously, these two anime are actually quite different in some aspects in that Clannad is a intense tear jerker, while Kanon has more plot twist and mind-blowing revelations.
The main theme is about friendship and family. The artwork is very similar, there are story arcs and you'll love the characters.
Both series are made by Kyoto Animation and are both Key novel adaptations.
The main character has similar interactions between the characters, and the animations look almost identical.
Both these Anime give a heart-warming cry when something tragic happens. Both Male Protagonist will have friends on their side when going through tough times. When they see the truth, they can't take it and refuse to accept the fact. There life is dealt with in school, but Kanon deals with more supernatural stuff. The Romance in both happen in different occasions in the show. ENJOY :)
Clannad is made by the same company "key" so the quality with be almost the same. and who know's you may see a cameo appearance :)
Both anime were made by Key and have an amazing storyline with awesome soundtracks. Kanon (2006) bases more around the memory loss of a character during its character development, but it is a very moving anime just like Clannad. If you liked one, you'll most likely like the other!
Both of these harem series are game conversions from 'Key', animated by 'KyoAni'. As such both series are very very pretty and extremely well-produced.
Clannad and Kanon center around a male high school student (Yuichi in Kanon, Tomoya in Clannad). They are similar in personality: both are quite sarcastic and at times, obnoxious, towards the girls they are surrounded with. There is also a female in each that is the main love interest for the male (Ayu in Kanon, Nagisa in Clannad); they are similar in character design and influence on the male. The plots are also similar; each has a number of arcs related to the girls' stories and how they affect the males' lives.
In short, both of these series are quite similar, and surely if you liked one you would like the other. If nothing else they are beautifully produced and a joy to watch.
Same plot, Kanon has more fantasy in it
You´ll definitely experience a similar feeling while watching this show. It has the same kind of emotional, tragic, funny and above all, touching story/atmosphere.
If you cried during either one of them, chances are good that you will as well during the other one.
All in all, i couldn´t recommend watching this show more, if you liked the other one.
Kyoto Animation ftw ^^

also done by Kyoto Animation, and produced by Visual Art's/Key. Looking for sad stories like in Air? Kanon is your answer, but twice as long and just as good.
Fantasy and Romance with bits of Comedy thrown in
Do I need to say anythign at all? Kawaii girls that you can choose from! imo kanon is better cuz it has more kawaii girls.
KyoAni does sad girls with sad stories yet again, but this time with an easier to understand plot.
Same people made it both stories are in the slice of life, fantasy genre.
Same creators, and it's good o:
One guy and a lot of different girls with there own beautiful arcs. Both have supernatural elements and are animated by the same studio, Kyoto Animation.
Besides being made by the same creator, both these series are sweet and sentimental. Best suited if you're looking to shed a tear or two.
Well first off, they're both originated from Key games and animated by Kyoani.
They're both incredibly sad story's which will tug at your heart, mind you with fabulous animation (kyoani ftw!)
Its the same story, all over again
Both from KyoAni. Have a same feeling to it overall.
Both series are based off games from the company Key for starters. The first plot of Kanon (with Makoto) is extremely similar to Air's story, except of course not exactly the same.
Both are based on Visual Novels done by KEY. The story contains that Air feel about it, but it's still got it's own vibe throughout the series.
Both are very sad. Funny at other times.
Air was really similar to Kanon in the style and presentation but really takes a more emotional route and was def an anime to watch.
Both have the same atmosphere. They both basicly tell the story about a guy whho comes to a town and helps the sad girls in it...
The same creators are responsible for Air and Kanon and it shows: from the character design to the pacing and plot, these are indeed akin titles that should appeal to a similar fanbase. Both are heartfelt anime that compel the viewer to empathize with he characters. However, Air takes drama to a whole different level and becomes downward tragic while Kanon manages to retain a bitter sweet feeling.
Both are made by Key, and adapted by KyoAni. Both have a tragic feel to them, and they follow the "girl arc" formula with a boy coming to a town, meeting girls and their individual tragedies and troubles, each story arc focusing on one girl.
Both are made by the same group - Key and Kyoto Animation. Both have similar (yet different) and sad plots involving a main character and several girls.
Boths series have lot in common. They are both KyoAni products and both have wonderfukl stories that will move your heart. They are Both harem shows with character arcs, and some of the character arcs in Kanon and Air resemble each other. IN other words, if you liked AIR you're definetly going to like Kanon.
It's similar to air in case of the drama intensity. However, Air lacks the longevity of the story, but it's a pretty good one too. Kanon is great because of the unpredictable flow of the story. These two will surely bring tears to your eyes.
its made by the same people, and has the same sort of effect-like you could go back and watch it hundreds of times.
Air is the first of the Key/Kyoto series followed by Kanon 2006
One guy... A bunch of girl's...
Both titles being games produced by Key and both Animated by the wonderful KyoAni, both shows are beautiful to look at, and they both feature very sad stories. Keep your eyes open during ep 2 you might get a pleasant surprise lol
Both are very sad. And they can be really funny, you can cry. x3
I really enjoyed Air but I enjoyed Kanon (2006) even more! Kyoto Animation works its magic in both of these romance / drama anime. Air and Kanon were both written by Key, and were video games before anime. They both have really intriguing plots and the animation is amazing and close to flawless! I was brought to tears by both of these shows. There are really moving scenes, and also scenes where you find yourself smiling from ear to ear! I strongly recommend Kanon (2006) if you liked Air!
Both Drama series from Kyoto Animation. If you watched Air (/Kanon (2006) then you should check the other one. They both include good Character developing, an emotional story through the Animé and great graphics and soundtracks fitting the whole atmosphere. Mixed with some Humor makes Kanon (2006) an overall great Animé which is definatly worth watching!
Same original visual novel studio (key), same animation studio (Kyoani)
They are very similar in several ways, both very tragic animes.
Besides the obvious reason of both of them being made by the same company, Air and Kanon both seem to be domant in a season and center in a season. Air capture the soul of Summer as Kanon gets the essence of winter. Both have a still , silent vibe. Both are awesome!
Similar character developments and story.
The've Got The Same Producers And They've Both Got Beautifull Drama Stories
-About the same animation style
-A little bit of harem
-Made by Key Animation
-Comedy
I'll try to keep this short. A lot of people have been suggesting things like kanon, or sola, or whatever for air, because they're both "sad". let me tell you that I don't get why that is. Kanon is nowhere NEAR Air's level. Air is spectacular. Why? Well, because, it doesn't just deal with the usual "tragedy" - the whole doomed love thing. Air goes so much deeper than that - not only does it explore one (make that two >.<'') of the purest couples I've ever seen before, it also goes into the love of sisters, and a mother and her daughter, and more. If you've watched Kanon, watch air right this second. It is WORTH it. If you've watched Air and you know what real tragedy is, I guess Kanon would be a good next stop. It's not as sad, but the animation is really similar, as is the way they lay out the story.
:)
Viewers that are teary-eyed on the sad moments from Air should certainly check out Kanon(2006). Kanon presents a simple but unpredictable storyline and captivating animation provided by the famous Kyoto Animation Studios. Be ready with those tissues though.
A one guy and a lot of girls, each one with its own drama and a beautiful background story. A serie that will make you cry and smile with the characters.
Possui um estilo bem parecido tanto no desenho como na historia ^^
Kanon and Air are both adapted from visual novels by Key.
Both anime have the same type of supernatural elements and the moods of both stories are bittersweet. Anybody who enjoys one of these will definitely like the other.
Both were adapted from visual novels by Key and animated by the same studio - Kyoto Animation.
both are sad and have good animation.both are harem animes by key based off their games.
Made from the same people. Key!
Air and Kanon are very similair. they are both made by kyoani
the first arc in kanon 2006 is very similar to air tv. the following arcs also carry a resemlance and even take it that tiny bit further
both are very sad but beatiful
if you like air you will def like kanon and vice versa
Sad girls that seem happy, a sad town that seems happy and a sad, sad, sad story that seems happy. Also, Kanon is based around winter while Air is based around summer.
Air and Kanon 2006 are both based off of visual novels by Key, and each have very moving stories that will probably make you cry. Also, the Makoto and Misuzu arcs are incredibly similar.
One male main character and a lot of girls around him. Both sad, touching, interesting and heart breaking stories made by Key.
Both feature a male protagonist meeting different females who have weird quirks
In Kanon Ayu says "uguu" a lot
In Air Misuzu says "gao" a lot
In Clannad Nagisa is obsessed with the dango song
They have similar art and music and will both make you CRY!
Same genres
Both series pictures the lives of a main person (Yuuichi/Yukito). They both meet a girl (Ayu/Misuzu) who is a little childish, and becomes very close to the main character. Both will make you cry after a few episodes, as they both turn and twist the story all around.
They both have sort of the same music, characters and both are harems plus in Air a couple of characters from Kanon show up.
It's been said so many times but if you liked Air your bound to love Kanon. Although I feel Kanon is much better than Air.
both have the same feel to them they are both a little on the dark side but the story really shines.
They are made by the same company, Air is like the first attempt but they hit the jackpot on Kanon. They both deal with a fairly strange story line but still understandable with a GREAT twist.
Same creators Gao~~ and both anime are very sad Uguu~~
With Kanon (2006) and Clannad, Air completes the triade of the best KyoAni adaptations of Key's Visual Novels. Awesome stories about love, life, death and human relationships. Tragic stories, confused pasts and a uncertain future with supernatural events in all of them.
A must for every fan of Jun Maeda or drama/romance animes.
The two anime's are both slice of life, with main characters suffering from memory loss. They are beautifully put together. I found Kanon to be more comic in the start but they both sink into a darker plot. Both have a character who is suffering or trying to find memories.
Both have the power to make you cry and laugh.
-Each girl receives her own arc
-Animes adapted from creations by KEY
-Drama, romance, comedy, bromance, school life, all along with supernatural tones
Both of these animes are really heart breaking, but i loved them both. The art styles are incredibly similar. AND Ayu, Nayuki and Makoto all make a small appearence in the show.
Both animes are based around some girl's arc ... And they both made me cry.
Very alike in drawings, personality, and others
Main characters both very similar,
Both amazing anime's
They both start slow also -.-
Air is however better IMO
I suppose it's pretty obvious, but a lot of newer people don't realise that Air and Kanon are by the same original author; Key. Art style and some of the themes are similar, but what I find the most striking is their presentation of seasonal opposites. Air does the melancholy in summer so amazingly well, and Kanon does the melancholy in winter almost as amazingly well.
So I suppose if you liked the summer feel of Air and want the winter version, Kanon (2006) would be it.
It has the same animation style of air. It also has the same supernatural tone, but kanon focuses on miracles, while air just seems to get more depressing lol
