Recommendations

Compilation of 3 different and totally unrelated shorts by 3 different directors.

It felt like a story from Cowboy Bebop. They share the same melancholic atmosphere and the cold, lonely space setting echoing only with the sound of music by Yoko Kanno.

Has the same art style, and gives the same feeling as Akira. It is also made by the same people and the same director.

Well actually this is a recommendation to the 2nd episode of Memories "Stink Bomb". Both are how a little thing grows into a giant national-sized problem. It's the same type of silly comedy, although roujin Z, being a longer film, has more sentimentalist. If you like the comedy part of Roujin Z than you'll like Stink Bomb. Btw they're both created by Otomo.

This is a recommendation for the first part of Memories - Magnetic Rose. These stories are set in completely different settings, but both deal with hallucinations and desire to the point where the main character will find it difficult to seperate illusions from reality. Both stories are written by the late Satoshi Kon.

Also about space garbage removal.

Similar anthology movies again with Katsuhiro Otomo (AKIRA, Freedom) as a main director.

Two anthological sci-fi anime, which explore similar existential concepts.

The USY movie and Magnetic Rose both feature spacefarers entering surreal, perception bending environments that challenge their survival.

great pieces of art like this, that not only tells a compelling story in 40 mins --- but brings awe in its animation and story direction.

Memories' episode "Magnetic Rose" also takes place in the distant future, where the protagonists must fight against illusions in an ornate castle belonging to a mysterious noblewoman. Both have phenomenal art quality.

Home! and segment Magnetic Rose are both ghost stories set in space, where an exploring astronaut enters a wrecked space ship and meets a female human ghost. This is already where similarities end. Magnetic Rose is a psychological and atmospheric masterpiece. In Home!, the story is just there to showcase the CGI skills and physics engine of Studio Orange in a short submitted to the Young Animators project. Quality wise, we're millions of lightyears away from Magnetic Rose...

Memories is a 3 short movies combined into one flim and here I am perticularly talking about the first flim Magnetic Rose. • Both the anime have similar kind of plot where two guys gets trapped inside a escape room/abounded spaceship and they have to find a way out. • Both have similar kind of atmosphere, it felt very mysterious and haunting. • Both are psychological horror anime which will keep you in the edge of your seat.

similar themes to the first short in memories and also similar visuals

Both consist of totally different and unrelated little stories - so different in fact that I'd doubt there are many people who like all equally (I personally like the 3rd part of Memories and the 2nd part of Twilight Q notably more than the others).

Collections of short animations by different directors/artists. Shinji Kimura Deathtic 4 somewhat reminded me of the third segment in Memories (cannon fodder).

Millennium Actress and the "Magnetic Rose" section of Memories were both worked on by Satoshi Kon. Both films deal with once famous and successful woman reliving their past through memories. Both are visually inventive films with great animation.

Memories is best known for the short film Magnetic Rose, but Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder are good short films even if they do not measure up to Magnetic Rose. Like Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder, A Farewell to Arms is an anime short about warfare. Its animation is also very detailed like Magnetic Rose. You'd think this is the unofficial fourth film of Memories.

Both involve deep space expeditions and things going horribly wrong, although I feel that Magnetic Rose is the superior short film. Worth looking at if you're a sci-fi fanatic, at any rate.

Even though Memories are divided into three parts, if you like the heavy atmosphere and slow enfolding plot of The Sky Crawlers, I think you'll like at least the first and third stories of Memories. Both shows explore the meaning of existence and identity, even though The Sky Crawlers is a more depressing overall and Memories is more psychological. I would say the first story in Memories about a woman's unflinching grip over the past and her love is similar to the girl in The Sky Crawlers, but the other stories in Memories are definitely worth watching too.
