To LOVE-Ru Darkness OVA

Story (7/10) - As with Darkness, these OVAs were good. Doesn't really pertain to the story. You aren't really missing anything by not watching these. There are a few flashbacks, funny and perverted accidental mishaps, and maybe a thing or two that the main series won't show.

Character (8/10) - With the great character development in Darkness, the OVAs add a little more depth to some characters and their feelings.

Enjoyment (7/10) - The level of enjoyment felt in this series follows through, but some of the Ecchi scenes, were starting to become a bit much.

Overall (7/10) - These were nice little shorts to watch, now there's ... nothing stopping me from watching the last installment of the To LOVE-Ru series: To LOVE-Ru Darkness 2nd!

I wouldn't usually write a review for an ecchi/hentai/harem/porn/incest/whydon'tyoujustjackoffalready?-anime, but people are being driven crazy by this thing, it's already got a score of 7.99(at least when I wrote this) and this OVA basically is what they don't get to jack off to--I mean watch in the regular To Love Ru Darkness season, I mean, I get it, the show is good at getting your dick hard, good, and it can also make you have some giggles and good fun on the process? Great! But is it really a 10/10 show? No, it isn't.

And if there is anyone who dares to say that is the ... best anime they've ever watched, is because they probably mean it's the best porn they've ever watched, ask them to justify why it is the pinnacle of anime, and you'll see the awnser will be along the lines of "Can't you see how brave this characters are? They dare to have a guy touch them when he is already semi-kind of engaged! Not in this world man", "The art is soooo good! Have you seen the way those watermelons dance?", "I came 3 times that day", "My penis pretty much typed this review". And why? Why is it that all the people making reviews are getting so crazy about it? Well, that's because this is porn, what where they looking for when they watched this? Porn. The simple fact that they are looking at anime as a pure masturbation mean, makes them lose their criticism and can only say wonderfull things about it.

Now, I'm gonna stop being a dick to all those people who are controlled by their sexual lust and are not able to be critical about anime because of this reason.

Story (6): The story is not amazing, in Love-Ru we start of with the usual girl who falls in love with the main character and then they have a problem, and they have to fix it, they are given time, in that time more females are introduced, they all fall in love with the main character eventually, the problem comes back, and with enough -falling on their panties- moments, the problems comes back once again, and then it can either leave and come back later or end the problem and start something new. To Love-Ru is pretty much this, probably the only thing I've enjoyed in this new "lets create a Harem" deal, is the fact that Momo tries to get into Rito's mind and make him into a perverted playboy, wich adds somekind of psychological control, wich is a nice touch and I can appreciate it. I'd also like to add that Darkness probably beats the other To Love-Ru arcs, just for the fact that this might actually go somewhere, the character development is minimum but there is some of it...I think.

Art (9): I don't really care that much about art to be sincere, cause I believe a lot of people tend to ignore other animes just for the fact that the art style is strange or different to their usually anime, so I don't think the art makes the anime, but it can obviously be appreciated mostly in a show where the way characters look is so important. Darkness has a pretty solid art style and has a nice look to it.

Sound (7): I've never really liked the music themes in the To Love-Ru franchise, but I guess there might be someone out there who enjoys them, but is nothing I would consider memorable or outstanding, the sound effects in the show are good in setting the atmosphere, maybe not the greatest, but good.

Character (6): Well, maybe the part where most of the people might disagree with me, a lot of people can only say that the cast of characters is great, that they are all deep and amazing, original and well thought...this is one of those harem shows where the show is trying to make you pick wich girl you like the most, there's nothing new to them, you can find them on other harem shows, where they try to introduce as many female personalities as possible (wich I wouldn't say is always bad -Kotegawa best girl) , the shy, the dumb, the responsible, the perverted, the athletic and then there's the one that's in love and the one that just wants some action under the sheets. Despite what must people may say, I think the characters don't have that much to them, they don't really seem to have motives in their lifes, they are always in the same mood until something happens to them, they don't really seem to be troubled with their every day problems, their personality just blends into the situation.

Overall (6): But overall, I enjoy the show, not because of the plot, not because of the music, just because it has some ok comedy and is good at getting my dick hard, I can't deny that. In the ecchi category I could even consider that it stands out from the others, but if I'm really critical about it and look at it as anime as a whole, is not that incredible, the plot is ok, sound and art are nothing life changing, but is enjoyable. An overall 6 in my eyes.

Oh dear, so what do we have here.........well, what we have here is more like an unaired extension of "To Love Ru 2," even though it is titled "To Love Ru Darkness OVA," and it sure doesn't look like a teaser for the up coming "To Love Ru Darkness TV" what's funny is that it actually titled "To Love Ru 3." As usual this 1st OVA episode still follows the same genre of it the season 2 the only difference were is that this one is more racy that the last season 2. Racy in the sense that the last season is more on ... boob flashes, panty shots and booty calling. This one has a lot of intense sexual double entendre which includes near frontal exposure and simulated foreplay. So generally speaking there is no story at all to this 1st episode OVA so for the story I'll give it a "Dreadful" number 2 since everything about this thing evolves around the so called sexual double entendre .

As for the art, sound, character, I've given it a "Mediocre" number 5. Since nothing has change at all except for the opening and the closing theme, the character for the most part are still there and as usual Rito still hasn't got the balls to properly confess again to Haruna in the right time and in the right place, but the foreplay between him and her was surly nice (since he doesn't know that she's got turned into a cat).

Enjoyment: Good 7.

Ok, so I'm GUILTY for just enjoying the intense sexual double entendre of this 1st episode OVA, I admit I do find the foreplay as enjoyable, at this point it is safe to assume that the upcoming season 3 and the 2nd OVA will still have the same intense sexual double entendre.

Overall: Poor 3.

Ok, so at this point, it is quite disgusting that this 1st episode OVA doesn't include Yami or better known as "Golden Darkness," as much as I hate to say it- this more like a patsy and should have been included as part of the season 2's episode and it is safe to assume that the 2nd OVA episode should also be included to among the season 3's episodes, I guess this is studio Xebec's poor promotional gimmick. Co'z if the upcoming season 3 is gonna be all about Yami then this 1st OVA episode should have included her in all 3 parts of the episode. Overall if I can a describe this 1st OVA episode in one word it's gonna be "FOREPLAY!"
