Okay, I know some people are going to be like "WTF STRAIGHT 10's!? THATS SO UNREALISTIC YOU ANIME NOOB!" Whatever. In my eyes, this is the perfect animated film. I'm 17, and still hook up my VCR just so I can watch my retro VHS copy of this film. Everything about this movie just oozes with epicness and win. The artwork is gorgeous, the score for this movie is fantastic, the dubbing is easily one of the best for any anime and the story is perfect. In Japan, this movie is actually 3 seperate short movies but I guess when they released it in North American theaters they edited all 3 together to great a story arc. I still have my soundtrack for this movie, and it still remains my favorite motion picture soundtrack. Even the freakin Digimon theme song is amazing. Though a little outdated, this movie has already imbedded itself as a classic. I will show this movie to my own kids one day, they will probably say THIS IS LAME but whatever. The characters are very well developed, and the first part of the film reminds me of a Godzilla movie. You have to see this movie if you haven't already. If you have seen it, watch it AGAIN and AGAIN, but I'm sure if you love it as much as I do, then you already are =) read more

If your like me, you'll watch this for the nostalgia that is Digimon. Lets start with the fact that this movie is comprised of the first three Digimon movies in Japan albeit heavily edited. After watching both the Sub and Dub I can safely say i prefer the Dub. Why? Heres why:
Story: Just incase you didn't know, heres a very brief overview of the TV series. 7, later 8, children are transported to the Digital world, where they meet their Digimon, which are monsters that fight and change form. You get the picture. Well this is the movie of that. It starts with a preque, then a sequel to the first series and finally a part about the second series.
Art: The art has aged a fair bit since its launch in the ninety's. While it was animated differently from the main series, it was a matter of preference over this and the original series. I personally prefered the shine of the series as opposed to the dark and dull movie. Thats not to say it has its moments but on the whole, average for its time, even worse now.
Sound: It's not memorable in the slightist. It wasn't terrible yet it definitly didn't stand out. The dub features some of the old tunes used in the dub of the anime, which is great if you remember them. Cheesy if you dont. The Sub voices were good, the average as far as monster related anime is concerned. The dub voices are so nostalgic, while some would laugh at them for their total blandness, hearing Joshua Seth's voice is like living the "good old days".
Character: They are shallow, stereotypical, but chances are you wont be watching this for deep thinking and unpredictable personalitys. Still, they work as far as Digimon is concerned. And it is aimed at younger audiences so who cares.
Enjoyment: I loved it as it was relieving a part of my childhood, from the familar voices and insert songs used to the "digivolve" sequences. It all stays true to what Digimon is all about. Being cool in a nostalgic sort of way.
Of course, if you dont remember or never watched Digimon, you won't enjoy this. Though I doubt anyone would be reading this if this was the case. read more
