I admit it, I've been on a Sailor Moon craze lately. After reading the first two story arcs of the manga, I wanted to take a break from that story and I decided to do so by finally getting around to watching the SuperS movie. Chibiusa is one of my favorite characters, along with Hotaru and Minako, so I was pretty happy to watch a movie based on her for a change of pace. So, without further ado, here is my review of the Sailor Moon SuperS Movie: Black Dream Hole!
Story: The story was wasn't bad. Like the other people before me have mentioned, it was kind of cliched with all the talk of sugar and dreams. The pied piper thing was also used a million times before. There were also parts of it that didn't make sense; for instance, there was no real explanation for why the Outers showed up out of nowhere. The part where Usagi was in her dream was also a bit confusing at first, but it's explained shortly after. Anyway, the story wasn't that bad, but it wasn't particularly excellent either.
Art: The art was fabulous. There's no other way to describe it. Everything looked so much nicer than in the series. The thing that stuck out the most to me was how shiny everyone's hair was, especially Chibiusa and Usagi. Chibiusa's hair was also more styled than it is in the series, and looks more like that of the manga; a huge plus.
Sound: I thought the sound was really good. I liked the song that the kids sang in while on the ship -- it was so catchy!
Character: As a Sailor Moon movie, the most familiar characters are naturally in it. The Outer Senshi, with the exception of Saturn, also make an appearence which is nice since they weren't in the SuperS series at all. The new character, Peruru was also pretty cool. I liked him. My problem, however, is with the antagonists. They had absolutely no depth, and there was no real reason why the evil queen (I can't remember her name, sorry) wanted to take over, or why she wanted to make the children dream. (She did say something to Sailor Moon about how if everyone slept and only dreamed of themselves no one would get hurt. Still, it doesn't explain much.)
Enjoyment/Overall: Well, I enjoyed it. I thought it was cute, and I loved the art style. Naturally, this is a movie that Moonies should watch. But if you're not a fan of Chibiusa or cute things in general, then you may not want to watch this. Overall, it's a good movie, and I give it a seven. read more

Let me first admit that Chibi-Usa is my most disliked-character, so if you feel this review isn't exactly unbiased, I'm not going to argue. >X3
After BSSM S, which highlights Chibi-Usa's friendship with Tomoe Hotaru, there came BSSM SuperS which also focused on Chibi-Usa... in almost every episode. Thinking one couldn't possibly tire of this pink-haired loud-mouthed girl, here is an enitre movie dedicated to her.
The story is weak compared to its two predecessors. The idea of fairies that kidnap children seems pretty contrived... in regards to forcing a plot that will center around Chibi-Usa. It introduces characters such as Peruru and Badiyanu who are hollow in character and mere plot-triggers.
The art quality is superb. As the third movie with a large budget, animators can afford to try new and more complicated angles, which may bother some people as the shots can be considered a little too ambitious.
The soundtrack is lacking when compared to the S or R movie. Badiyanu's persistent laughter is very irritating, moreso than what is usual for the Evil Villianess character-type. And she laughs so often you want to shoot yourself. The theme song "Morning Moon" is introduced and it is a light and fitting song, a great addition to the other movies' ending themes.
There is virtually no Character Development. The story presents a conflict and the Sailor Senshi must resolve it. The end.
The Enjoyment and Overall quality of this movie is average. Its delicious eye-candy but the plot fails to draw you in. read more

This has to be one of my least favorite out of the whole Sailor Moon series. Many fans also agree because of the following factors.
Not many is explained- To top that it all goes halfway in songs, the plotline is very poorly explained
Rini all of a sudden falls out of love with Helios- It's true like nothing happened she was acting like Helios never existed and was interested in Peruru and if this movie takes place before any romance between Rini and Helios happened then Rini fell out of love with Peruru faster.
Peruru is never explained- Peruru is almost never explained as his character all we know is that he's a dream moth, but the strange thing is why didn't Helios mention him as he is the keeper of dreams.
Unexplainable Outers- Meanwhile the outers were nowhere to be seen in SuperS and Pluto was supposably away in her time. They appeared like nothing in this movie, not to mention OOC and the others scouts weren't even surprised or excited, but then in Stars even Uranus and Neptune wa shocked at Pluto's appearance. To top off Saturn didn't even make a appearance.
None are the songs are in English-No new songs were made in the dub except the Candy Boat one and it was in Jap
Even though the BonBon Babies lol are funny, and the fact that the villains are candy armed.Plus Peruru you can't possibly hate. This movie I reccomend for a big moonie fan. read more
