SynopsisSome people suddenly find religion, but for 16-year-old Kusanagi GoDo, it's that REALLY old time religion that's found him! As the result of defeating the God of War in mortal combat, GoDo's stuck with the unwanted position of Campione!, or God Slayer, whose duty is to fight Herectical Gods whenever they try to muscle in on the local turf. Not only is this likely to make GoDo roadkill on the Highway to Heaven, it's also a job that comes with a lot of other problems. Like how to deal with the fact that his "enhanced status" is attracting a bevy of overly-worshippy female followers. After all, they're just there to aid him in his demi-godly duties, right? So why is it that their leader, the demonically manipulative sword-mistress Erica Brandelli, seems to have such a devilish interest in encouraging some VERY unorthodox activities?

"Kusanagi Godou is a Campione. Campione is the title given to those who succeed in killing a god. He is the king of kings. This is the story of a young man who has become a Campione and the women surrounding him."
To begin with, everyone would expect this anime to be about what the last sentence of the prologue dictates ,and that is a harem/romance story. On the other hand, the real thing came to emphasize and use too much screentime on the battles. This makes it awfully hard to decide from which point of view you should be reviewing this, as it is clear that either the shounen/action or the harem/romance element gets in the way and I will explain later exactly what I mean.
The whole storyboard is based on a mixture of Greek, Roman and Persian mythology, twisted according to the author’s needs to support the MC's origin and purpose as a Campione, as well as create a solid background for the heretic gods. Therefore, despite that well constructed base, there’s no actual plot in the anime, rather some random battles with various gods turning rampant and thus threatening humanity.
Through those battles Godou must survive and prevail as it is his duty to protect the world by those heretic deities. He can use the Authorities (spiritual forms that equip the yielder with various skills) of the heretic god he killed in order to defend both himself and humanity. A fact is that the most useful weapon against those deities is a golden sword. And what you think it needs to activate?
Knowledge. Knowledge that lies to the very foundation of each deity he encounters. After identifying his opponent, that knowledge will be put into words that can rip off the deity’s divinity. And the most interesting part comes to how he comes to acquire that knowledge, with the answer being passionate juicy kisses with the beautiful heroines, who will pour inside him all the necessary information (Plot 5/10)
The art was amazing at times, but disappointing in others. When the whole battle scenery gets filled with mythical creatures emmiting sparky auras and tons of shining swords pointing at the enemy, the scenery gets immersed in a plethora of colors and greatly raises the overall quality. The (scarce though) ecchi scenes were also well presented. The overall quality difference, though, from these moments to the daily life ones is from noticeable to annoying. Moreover, the details on the characters faces while kissing were also well made. (Art 8/10)
The sound was descent. Not amazed by either the opening or ending themes. The battle scenes though are supported by an background epic tempo to highlight our MC’s long and fancy incantations. (Sound 7/10)
The main character comes to be the typical harem lead, appearing uninterested and stolid by the girls approach, well at least in the beginning. In addition, as the classic main character, he is also the one that wants to protect everyone. As for the females, we have to view them from both perspectives .As a shounen/action based anime, the characters are necessary and pretty active when it comes to fighting and aiding Godou. Nonetheless, from the harem/romance point of view, there is not enough time to have any character development between them and the MC excluding a kiss, except for Erica (she is the most active character of this series). As a result, we can see how low the other harem members status is , compared to her’s. To sum it up, the characters (except Erica and Athena(she’s a deity that Godou fought with)) were relatively weak, and that leaves a bad taste since they didn’t get enough screentime to either learn more about their past and personalities or establish a fertile connection with our MC.
Heretic gods, fancy incantations, mythology ripoffs, passionate kisses. The whole presentation was quite interesting, confusing though at some points. As for the harem time (whatever we got from it), was quite enjoyable (but I guess that depends on what this anime is based on let it be action or romance, so it’s up to you). The fact that the MC releases his full powers with a kiss wasn’t really original ,as in Sekirei a kiss between him/her and its Ashikabi would unleash its full potential .The fact that in both Sekirei and Campione were directed by Kusakawa Keizo can’t go unnoticed.
Anyway , the battles, even though they were the starting point to a new add to the harem, drained all the potential of the character/harem/romance development, which I’m sure disappointed those that had such expectations. On the other side of the coin, action fans had enough of it, with a plethora of intriguing god based mythological innovations. (Enjoyment 7/10)
All in all, Campione is an anime that may tire harem fans, since it’s about 70-80% of the whole anime time focused on battles. This is the big flaw of this series in my honest opinion, as they had the potential to create a good balance between action and romance, sacrificing the latter in the place of the first, maybe in their effort to support their script and original (for anime) story. As an shounen/action viewer i felt like the romance intervened with the action and and as harem/romance one the battles took away a lot of possible character development.(Overall 7/10)
Shounen/action fans will find this rather intriguing, as they may like the whole “battle with gods” concept.
As for harem/romance fans ,this may dissapoint a bit, not so much because of the quality of the harem/romance itself , but due to the poor quantity.
This anime takes controversial criticism and that’s perfectly rational. Anyway, make sure you rate this series with your own criteria and remember – the truth might be somewhere in the middle.
Campione! well that was probably the best anime i've seen with ecchi in it.
Okay guys before starting this i want to make clear that there are 2 versions of ecchi: showoff ecchi and romance ecchi. and this anime has a 90% romance ecchi and 10% showoff ecchi. (showoff echi is KissxSis style, and romance ecchi speaks for it self).
This is one of those anime's who is in commen with most harem styled anime's
Boy gets powerfull or special, Girls love it and are competing against each other.
But this is one of the few times when you watch anime's because of ecchi, you really want the action the happend like fighting. becuase it's just epic.
With this in mind i will give my honnest revieuw about this anime, and call out the good points from this anime and the bad one. enjoy.
well yeay i like it alot i must say, one of these story's involving taughts in real life like polytheism and the old greek style of believing in their gods. i like it alot that way and that it's implemented in the anime itself, that pretty unique.
also the idea of becomming a kind of Hero after killing a god is awesome, With some extra Fanservice i think they did a great job with the story.
basic art like most anime's not the best not the worst. lack in detail lack in extra face expressions. well yeay you have to get used to this in anime's which aren't in the top 100 of the anime list. still a decent job, but nothing to look out for
Sound: is like all animes just neutral, nothing special. pretty much the same story as the art, but again you have to get used to it.
Well yeay the first time accualy that the origin of the characters is inplemented in the anime: like speaking italian the first time they see the boy. and getting old habbits form back home which is nicely done. good artwork on the characters and great feeling expressions, again not to much face expressions.
Enjoyment, that's up to you, I loved it and i think this has to be the most enjoyable anime to watch for me at this moment but well yeay everybody has different interest.
I need to be honnest i think this anime would be able to get a 9, but if i look in a way of writing a revieuw, i would say 8. well yeay a great anime to have some fun. and i recomend it to you if you prefer it that way.
overall recomended to Ecchi lovers, romance lovers, action lovers and Magic usage lovers.
Not recomended to People who are to serious and can't stand anything unrealisticly in ecchi/romance wise.
Thank's for reading, Any suggestions or pointers for me? send me a message i want to inprove myself in making these reviews, My english isn't the best out there so sorry for that.
Same type of main character the type that becomes stronger by interacting with females
Both are Fantasy/Action/Romance relating to fairy tales and gods.
+ Strong Male Main Character
+ Unique Female support characters
+ Both have great action
+ Similar Atmosphere (OP Main vs. Antagonist)
+ Both main characters have set of strong abilities that surpass others.
Fantasy shows with magical battles and harem in it, similar badass cast. Also both main chars gets stronger with every girl they get.
The main character in Campione! is a lot more manlier and is overall better with his harem girls. Also, the fights are more epic because he's kicking asses of GODS.
Ecchi-supernatural-harem shows with multiple sexy female characters and a strong male lead. The male leads are not perverted but nonetheless get into arousing situation with their harem.
The overall concept of both shows are similiar. Guy meets girl, guy gets strong, guy gets harem.
The main characters are both beings with so much power they are practically world powers. Both have an organization that allows a girl to serve the main character. Both have magic societies that are also affiliated with the powerful beyond like the main characters.
- A normal guy becomes one of the most powerful beings on earth overnight.
- His powers are associated with 10/12 animals and creatures.
- He suddenly gets surrounded by females, who fall for him one after the other.
- He gets stronger with every new member of his harem.
- Unlike many harem animes, he isn't totally oblivious to their feelings.
- Kusanagi Godou and Akatsuki Kojou have similar personalities.
- Gods from real legends VS. fictional demons & vampires.
- Gets stronger through kissing VS. sucking blood from the girls (but please note that the blood sucking is at least as ecchi as the kissing).
- In Campione! the girls are more open with their feelings (especially Erica Blandelli) than in Strike the Blood.
Same type of main character the type that becomes stronger by interacting with females
Both MCs depend on the women around them to get stronger. Both contain some comedy too and are really enjoyable to watch.
Male protagonist unlocks new powers after physical contact with female main characters. As battle progresses, main character's harem grows.
Both animes possess these qualities:
A Harem that develops around a resisting main character
a main character that is rather likable in a harem anime
Supernatural elements:Vampires and demons in Strike the blood and in Campione! there are magic and gods
both main characters are some of the strongest beings on the planet(the MC of Campione is literally god-like)
and an echii-ish scene begins when they want to unlock their powers(Strike the Blood: blood sucking, Campione: a rather deep kiss)
Both powers were given ,Both have harems, Both are OP as hell, Both are in a way supernatural.
-Kiss vs Suck Blood (so hot and ecchi for both)
hence become more powerful~
-Harem Harem Harem!!!!!!!
-Bunch of super-natural
Both of the main character gains power not only by their harems but sometime by the defeats of their opponent.
Both anime will keep your blood boil hot!
The protagonists in both series control multiple avatars within them, but are still inexperienced in their use. Both heroines of these series belong to a secret magic organizations and more experienced in both the use of magic and combat than the protagonists. Both protagonists need the girls in the series to gain something in order to win the fight, in Campione! Godou has to kiss the to gain new information and in Strike the Blood Kojou needs to drink their blood to unlock a new avatar.
Harem with interesting plot
One main male characters surrounded by a lot of pretty girls. The girls in both series could use magic. Both series are harem-based with a lot of fan services to keep your eyes open.
-Both based on a light novel
-Harem genre but still with a very good plot
-Strong male and female lead
-Similar art styles
-Both very good series
Both series are considered harem with the main protagonists involved with various girls after a destiny encounter.
Both series contain ecchi, fan-service, drama, comedy, romance, and magic/supernatural themes.
Both series' main female protagonist are also quite fond of the main protagonist after their initial meeting.
-Main girl is not just normal girl.
-Main guy has the special powers.
-No censorship on the chest and pants.
Ecchi Magic Harem shows that contain tonnes of comedy, sexiness, and fight scenes. Both male leads have harems in which the girls work together with the MC to defeat enemies.
Both Main Characters are innocent ppl and get sucked in to a new way of life, is what you could call it
Main Characters get new Powers and grow from the standard weak to stronger except Highschool DxD's character is more "pathetic"
Both Animes get surrounded by girls
Spoiler Alert!: Both Main Characters become HEROs (is my way of putting it)
Campione fights against gods, highschool dxd fights against vampires and such. What is there not to love about both of them? highschool has alot more lewdness but still great all around. Camptione! has a crap ton of action with alot of cool babes!
If you liked highschool DxD, you must like Campione too.
similar is the guy, who is surrounded by beautiful girls
The Guy also posseses Great powers just like highschool
Girls, magic, and actually a nice plot to go with them.
- Similar type of heroine. Elegant one and love the protagonist (both mind and body). Grimoire Rias with red hair and from Europe, Blandelli Erica with blonde hair from Italy. not to mention the Seiyuu was the same person.
- Highschool DxD and Campione have similar plot. protagonist with power the didn't know they had, fantasy where heroine is something supernatural (Devil and Godslayer)
- Lastly, same genre of Ecchi Comedy Romance, and of course, Harem with 4 girls.
- overpowered and badass MC who isn't incompetent like many other Ecchi/Harems
- both have a better plot compared to others of this genre
- plot is quite similar
Opening Theme"BRAVE BLADE!" by Megu Sakuragawa (eps 2-11)
Ending Theme#1: "Raise" by Yui Ogura (eps 2-11, 13)
#2: "BRAVE BLADE!" by Megu Sakuragawa (ep 12)
