Slayers and Rune Soldier are similar because they are comedies base in a fantasy world with magicians, warriors, priestesses and thieves. Rune Soldier was a easier series to watch and a lot more funnier then Slayers but there are a lot of good Slayer episodes and more of them then Rune Soldier.
Light-hearted fantasy with a tongue-in-cheek approach to the usual clichés.

Fantasy, Comedy, Adventure.
Both have a group of adventurers with a important male lead that is all muscle no brain.
Those who hunt elves is a mix of Fantasy and our modern world like guns, tanks and *martial arts (male lead)*. Rune soldier is a fantasy only anime, but the main character use alot of hand to hand combat. I can't say more for now accept that they just feel very similar and if you like one there is a chance that you will enjoy the other.

Allthough in "Rune Soldier" there is nothing such as a epic story line, some very similar basic points can be pointed out e.g. the fantasy background, the medievil society and lost not least both stories wrap around a group of "heroes" with special abilities.

Similar:
*Medieval setting
*Action/Adventure/Comedy
*Color theme
Both animes have Swords and Sorcery and the heroes are bound with a girl/woman. I think you will like them both, but Rune Soldier have less romance/ecchiness or not at all, and have older characters.

Louie and Company embark on fantastic journeys, much like Gokudo and his troupe. There's magic, sorcery, comic moments, and surprises around every corner. Both fit nicely into the action/adventure/fantasy genre.

They both involve the same characters going on miscellaneous adventures, with some attempts at humour.
